You think this should be changed to an unfair fight? A couple punches were thrown with the gloves off.Reply

A borderline call but considering they were out of range, I'd say there wasn't enough action.

This was a tremendous action bout where both men fought through lactic acid buildup in the muscles and through the pain of incoming effective punches. These guys had a war on the ice on this occasion.

Tinordi was going after Tie Domi. The refs were there to corral Domi and Mark was trying to take advantage and land some shots. Smith saw that Tie may be in a position to get hit with an extracurricular shot. He jumped right in and challenged Tinordi to put up his dukes.

Smith missed a punch, landed a solid blow, and missed a couple of punches. Tinordi landed an average punch and missed a shot. Jason landed a solid punch and an average left. He missed a punch. Mark missed a couple of blows and landed a solid right.

Tinordi was going with right hands. Smith did a nice job of switching hands in this fight. He landed a solid right, missed a couple of punches, and landed a couple of pretty good shots. Mark landed a couple of average blow, two solid connects, and a pretty good uppercut. He landed a solid blow.

The men were going at it in exciting toe-to-toe fashion. Smith missed two punches, landed a solid blow, missed a punch, and landed a solid connect. Tinordi landed a couple of average shots and missed a couple of punches. Jason landed a decent left, missed a right, and missed a left. Mark landed an average right.

Smith missed a couple of punches, landed a solid blow, missed a shot, and landed an average connect. Tinordi missed a couple of punches, landed a pretty good shot, landed a couple of solid blows, and landed an average punch. Jason missed a couple of rights and a left. He landed an average right.

The men looked weary, but neither wanted to give an inch. Tinordi had a couple of small cuts on his face. Mark missed a couple of rights and landed a few average blows. Jason landed a solid shot, landed a decent punch, and missed a blow. He missed a left and a right. Tinordi missed a final right hand. The refs stopped the fight with both men completely spent.

This was a terrific fight with great sustained action. Both men landed a number of effective punches. It was a battle of wills and neither man would back down. I rate this fight as a draw. I think that the presence of blood in a fight can be somewhat overrated. Tinordi was cut over the bridge of his nose, but he dished out a lot of punishment of his own in the contest. It was pretty even in the number of punches landed and the impact of the blows. I think it was a solid draw.

Smith surprised me in this fight. He was a solid fighter, but Tinordi had to be the favorite going in to the bout. Mark was a very good fighter and a hard puncher. Smith took some punishment in order to land effective blows of his own. This was undoubtedly one of the best performances of his career.

Smith was a solid player who was an asset for whatever team he played for. He was never a primary enforcer, but he was a solid fighter who could compete with heavyweights. He concentrated on playing the game and fought when necessary. He demonstrated against Tinordi that he was willing to go with the toughest men in hockey when the situation warranted. He was not about to allow anyone to get freebies on a teammate. Smith earned respect throughout the NHL for his toughness, durability, and consistency.

Mark Tinordi and Tie Domi get after each other in a scrum in Olaf Kolzig's crease but the linesmen come in and get between the two. Jason Smith moves in from the point and grabs Tinordi, moving him away from Domi and the linesmen. The two defensemen waste no time getting at it and start trading. Tinordi and Smith both throw four rights and lands one but then Tinordi pauses as Smith switches hands. Smith throws three lefts and connects on two but switches hands again. Smith and Tinordi then have an intense toe-to-toe exchange, both guys just whaling on the other with strong punches. Tinordi tosses eighteen rights and lands ten with one snapping Smith's head back while Smith chucks twelve rights and lands seven, not doing quite as well as Tinordi. Smith switches hands and misses a left as they proceed to grapple around. Tinordi hangs on and Smith switches hands to miss two rights, then switches hands yet again and misses another left. Smith then jersey jabs at Tinordi who lands a right in return and they go toe-to-toe again. This time they both throw slower and are in closer to each other but it's another intense exchange. Tinordi chucks eight rights and lands five while Smith tosses six rights and lands two. Tinordi just hangs on afterwards while Smith switches hands and misses a left, switches hands again and lands a right, and then switches hands to miss another left. Tinordi lands two rights and after Smith misses a right, Tinordi throws four rights and lands two as Smith throws two rights and lands one. Smith stands back while Tinordi throws three rights and lands one and Smith yet again switches hands. Smith lands a left and then after Tinordi misses a right, they stop and the linesmen come in. A long, toe-to-toe, fight with a few good tradings throughout. Tinordi landed more frequently but they each landed a lot and landed well with a similar amount.

this was an amazing fight...happened in front of the Washington net, i forget what happened to start the scrum, but Tinordi threw some shots at Domi...Smith came in, and Tinordi and Smith had an amazing toe to toe scrap....they went toe to toe 3 times, with brief rests in between....when the linesmen finally came in, they just separated and went to the box...amazing fight

Domi and Tinordi tussle in front of the Capitals goal. Smith then comes out of nowhere and starts punching Tinordi and lands a few. They both throw furiously, but neither seems to land a huge punch--kinda like all action and no damage really. I guess Smith won the fight, but I am kinda reluctant to give it to him given how he got the jump.

Actually thought of giving Tinordi the edge here, but there is no clear winner. One of the best fights since the eighties. Tinordi is a madman.

Starts by the net when Domi & Tinordi begin a scrum. But then Smith races in to get involved with Tinordi for some reason. Tinordi began at a disadvantage since he was already grappling with Domi before Smith came along to surprise him. Toe-to-toe action while Jason Smith looked good throwing all those swings but if you watch closely, many of his swings simply don't reach Tinordi's face. Tinordi definitely totaled more facialpunches than Smith, so Tinordi gets the narrow win.
