Grier took a run at Forsberg, Forsberg favored his arm for a second. Knuble came in and got the stick up, Grier facewashes him. Other players pile in, Hatcher and Grier mix it up with gloved punches. Hatcher drops his gloves and gets Grier all turned around and on his knees, Grier eventually drops his gloves and gets up, they look ready to go, but then nothing happens. Fun

Oh Baby. Here we go. The play is coming out of the Flyers end and Niko Dimitrakos gives a suicide pass to R.J. Umberger. He fumbles with it and the puck gets away from him. He has his head down and Brian Campbell is flying. The puck slips off Umberger's stick and through the legs of Campbell, who is about to crush Umberger. The impact is huge. Umberger is immediately put down by a hard right shoulder to the head of Umberger. Umberger falls to the ice on his back/side and is seeing stars. He is looking up at the ceiling, obviously having no clue where he was at the time. The hit sparks a mini-brawl in the Sabres end. The trainer runs out to help Umberger put his senses back together. "He lined him up, He sized him out, He layed him out". That fits this hit perfectly. Umberger sits up, all woozy, and is obviously in "La-La land".

This could have all been avoided if it weren't for Niko Dimitrakos sending the puck to Umberger who was on the "Trolley Tracks". The puck got away from Umberger and it's too bad that his head followed the puck as it went through Campbell's legs. Campbell came in so perfectly that Umberger had no time to get out of the way. He was done. A great hit by Campbell. Best of the year.

After a big scoring chance for the Sabres the Flyers clear the zone. Dimitrakos sends a suicide pass to Umberger who has his head down. Campbell skates up and just lowers the boom on Umberger! Campbell's shoulder hit him on the chin and just dropped Umberger. Umberger stayed on the ice for a while and he clearly was in la-la land after the hit. When the trainer helped him up he was still wobbly. This was the hit of the year and 1 of the best I've ever seen. Fun

Shades of Scott Stevens! This was one of the biggest hits of all time.

Philly's R.J. Umberger takes a suicide pass near the blue line from his teammate Niko Dimitrakos. He fumbles with the puck and tries to control it, his head down. Just as Umberger sends the puck out of the Flyer zone, Sabre defenseman Brian Campbell rushes forward and delivers a crushing body check on his unsuspecting victim.

Campbell's shoulder makes heavy impact against Umberger's head and chest. The Flyer is leveled in a second, driven hard to the ice. Umberger is left sprawled on his back, twitching and eyes glassy. He clearly has no idea where he is. The play is whistled down soon after that because of the scrum that develops right after this crushing hit.

As the Philly trainer tends to the fallen Umberger, the Flyers are upset and try to get at Campbell. A mini-scrum develops, but not much action comes from it except for some pushing and shoving. Umberger, still dazed and confused, is eventually helped up and led off the ice by a couple teammates.

The sheer devastation wrought and the unlikely perpetrator of the body check (Brian Campbell, who rarely threw any kind of hit at anyone) makes this perhaps the biggest and most meaningful hit in Sabres playoff history.

I'd say this is the hit of the Month. Campbell levels Umberger with his shoulder. Umberger's head was down and he got smoked. They showed his face and his eyes were glazed over laying on the ice. Fun

Campbell catches Umberger with his head down. Looking at Umberger after the hit was pretty scary. He looked really out of it. The Sabres showed the hit on the Jumbo-Tron afterwards, which you aren't supposed to do (an unwritten rule when someone gets injured) and the Flyers benched were pissed. You could see Hitchcock say "Bullshit!...Fuckin' bullshit!" Fun

Campbell KO's Umberger with a shoulder as he moves the puck out of his zone, leaving him glassy eyed and staring off into space. Umberger is down for a very long time and needs help getting off the ice. Upgraded to "hit of the year." Fun

Niko Dimitrakos give R.J. Umberger a pass right up the middle of the ice. Umberger pokes it forward and puts his head down. As soon as that happens Brian Campbell pinches in; and in a big way. He absolutely destroys Umberger with a big hit. Campbell just gets his shoulder out and lets Umberger hit it. Umberger is flattened in an instant and doesn't get up. He lies on the ice, motionless, staring upwards and clearly out of it. The play goes on and a few Philadelphia Flyers' go over to Campbell but nothing happens. Fun

Gotta be hit of year.

In overtime Nico Dimitrakos gives Umberger a suicide pass. To Umberger's credit, I think he knew he would get hit he took one for the team. Anyway Campbell waiting at the blueline, steps in and gives hell an earthquake. The ground shook with intensity, as the game boiled over.

RJ Umberger turns his head up ice at the blueline.
He runs into a brick wall of Campbell.

Clean hit with the shoulder.

Umberger is out like a light on the ice, petrified.
Got to love it.

This is quite possibly one of the biggest hits of all time, Umberger catches a suicide pass and promptly gets absolutely demolished by Brian Campbell, who doesn't usually even throw any hits.

Umberger is out before he hits the ice, and when he does hit the ice, he just lays there. His eyes are open, but there's no light behind them.

A scrum breaks out in the opposite corner following the hit, but no one is able to properly get at Campbell.

Brian Campbell just wrecks R.J. Umberger with a mammoth bodycheck and while play goes on, Jeff Carter and Niko Dimitrakos just go after Campbell for the hit. Jay McKee comes to his teammate's aid and grabs Carter. Carter struggles to keep his balance but is able to and drops his gloves while tangled up with McKee. McKee meanwhile, drops his gloves as well and pries off Carter's helmet and visor. The linesmen start to come in and Carter misses a right uppercut. The linesmen are able to split up Carter and McKee as other players have just paired off. Not much of a fight after a massive hit. Only one punch was thrown and it was by Carter but it missed.

Carter wanted after Campbell for the hit on Umberger, McKee stepped in and they dropped the gloves. Wrestling, Carter threw a punch towards McKee's body, and it's hard to see what happened from there, as MSG cut back to Umberger on the ice and OLN's replay of it has them skating out of view.
