Flockhart had the puck along the boards. Chartraw came barreling in on him. He got his knee up and also clipped Ron in the face with his stick. Flockhart was stunned by the stick to the face and was attended to be the trainer. Chartraw was attended to by young heavyweight prospect Dave Brown. This was an irresponsible play by Chartraw and it led to an injury to Flockhart. Dirty

Dave Brown narrow win Fun
5
"The Brown Kid," as one of the announcers called him, was taking on a tough veteran in Rick Chartraw. Dave got his left hand going early in the contest. He landed three solid lefts and a partial connect. It appeared that his other punch missed. Chartraw landed a couple of solid left hands of his own. Dave clinched and Rick shoved his forearm in his face. The men toppled over and grappled on the ice.

I rate this as a narrow win for Brown. Chartraw landed a couple of effective punches and kept the bout very close. I give Dave the slight edge for landing a couple more punches than his opponent. The power of both men was pretty even in this contest and Brown earned the nod by virtue of landing a couple more punches.

This was an interesting contest between an old warrior and a young phenom. Brown went on to be an all-time great. Chartraw was a good NHL fighter who proved that he could hold his own with the better fighters in the league.

Dave Brown clear win Fun
5
A veteran tough guy takes on an eager newcomer here in this preseason game between two major rivals the New York Rangers and the Philadelphia Flyers. Defenseman Rick Chartraw is playing in his final NHL season while young 20 year old Dave Brown has only played 2 career games at this point. The two men engage in a brief fight at the blueline. Brown quickly gets his left hand going. Brown drills Chartraw directly in the face with five straight blows. Chartraw tries to fight back and he lands one right. Chartraw throws another right but only connects with Brown's shoulder. Chartraw tries to pull Brown's jersey up over his face, causing Brown to lose his helmet. The two men then fall to the ice, ending the fight.

I'm going to call this a clear win for Brown here. Not only did he out land Chartraw, Brown's blows were more damaging. Additionally he also was in clear control of the fight which helps warrant the clear and not narrow win call.

Chartraw highsticked one of the Flyers and Brown played his roll as an enforcer and went after him. Brown landed a bunch of lefts before Chartraw tied him up and they tumbled to the ice.
Chartraw got in one or maybe two of his own.

I thought Brown had a pretty clear advantage here, or "that Brown-kid" as Esposito called him, LOL!

Draw Fun
3
Allison tried to bully Hedberg, but Anders fought back and acquitted himself well. Ray skated by and landed a gloved blow. Hedberg got the lumber up and the fight broke out. Allison landed a partial connect, missed two blows, and landed an average shot. He landed a partial connect. Anders missed two punches and landed an average right. He missed a couple of blows and landed an average right. The men wrestled and the refs stepped in. Hedberg missed a final punch.

I rate this as a draw. Both men landed multiple blows with moderate effectiveness. Nothing big or damaging landed.
