Derek Boogaard clear win Fun

These two bump into each other and shake the mitts. Shelley drops his mitts first and throws the first three rights landing one. Boogaard misses a right in response and takes another but lands his second punch. Boogaard then lands a body shot and avoids a right from Shelley. They then both land a right. They back up to arms length use jersey jabs. Boogaard then drills Shelley with a hard right to the ribs. Shelley misses a right in response. Boogaard lands a right and Shelley lands a counter shot. Shelley lands another as Boogaard is in close pushing the jersey into Shelley's face. After that they are in the clinch for a bit Boogaard backs out and connects on two rights. Shelley throws a right back as his elbow pad comes off. Boogaard lands another two rights. Boogaard follows landing two more as Shelley missed a left. Boogaard threw the next three possibly glancing on them but Shelley did a good job of ducking them and caused Boogaard to get bent over where Shelley took off Boogaard's lid. Boogaard threw the next right looking to connect as they threw jersey jabs at arms length. Shelley then connected on a right. Boogaard pushed forward with a jab and missed a right that was countered with a short landing right from Shelley. Shelley now looked to be done and wanted the linesmen to come in but Boogaard didn't and he connected with five body shots before taking a short right. Boogaard landed a right in response and Shelley again ducked in waiting for the linesmen to come in. Boogaard tried to push Shelley out front but couldn't. Boogaard got a final body shot as the linesmen came in.

Good fight between two super heavies. Boogaard landed a lot more and better for a clear win though Shelley did pretty well and landed some good shots.

The face off comes at center ice and Boogaard and Shelley are lined up next to each other. The puck drops and they have a long chat. The puck is dumped into the Columbus zone and these two are still chatting and get damn near the goalie before they decide to go.

Shelley dumps his gloves and sneaks in a right on Boogaard before he drops his gloves. He gets them off and they grab on. Boogaard throws a right over the top, and Shelley responds with one of his own.

Boogaard throws another right, but comes up short. He follows up with a jersey jab and an uppercut attempt, but misses on the uppercut. Shelley lands one over the top before Boogaard comes back with another right. Shelley gets in multiple jersey jabs before Boogaard comes back with a wicked body shot. Shelley looked to have stumbled a little bit from that shot.

They exchange rights like it's their job. Shelley with a right, then Boogaard, then Shelley again. They wrestle for a second before Shelley tries to throw another right, but it comes up short. They wrestle for a few seconds and they finally get out of the hugging position.

Boogaard throws a big right that may have landed with his excellent reach. Boogaard unloads another right, but this one lands to the back of Shelley's helmet. Derek gets in two more rights before he tries to remove Shelley's helmet, but is unable to do so.

Boogaard comes with another right that connects. He goes to throw another, but is met with a solid left from Shelley. Shelley seems quite off balance now, but Derek keeps coming with rights. He throws multiple rights over the top of Shelley's helmet and missing.

Shelley gets his right free, but is holding Boogaard off with his left. Boogaard tries a jersey jab, but Shelley is able to dodge it. Shelley comes back with a right, but comes up short and takes a jersey jab from Boogaard.

Boogaard throws a right and Shelley counters with a right himself. They are getting tired at this point and aren't throwing as much. Boogaard gets into position and unloads about four body shots on Shelley, with the fourth one hitting Shelley in the back.

Boogaard gets a big right in as they get back upright. After taking that punch, Shelley comes in close as if he's hurting. Boogaard throws a weak body shot as they continue to wrestle. They wrestle for a few more seconds, both tired as can be before the linesmen move in to break them apart.

Clear win for Boogaard as he was just punishing Shelley with his rights and his vicious body shots. Shelley didn't have an answer for Derek's rights and was in defensive mode for most of the fight. I gave this fight a 9 because this was a quality scrap. Very long, and lots of action throughout.

Shelley and Boogaard are talking as they skate down the ice. Shelley then drops the gloves quickly and lands a right hand on Boogaard, Boogaard then drops his gloves as well.

Shelley throws another right at Boogaard, before Boogaard lands a couple of rights back. Boogaard then misses with an upper cut, and they trade a few more rights each. They both then land some jersey jabs, before Boogaard lands a good body punch and a good right hand over the top.

They tie up for a few seconds, before breaking apart again. Boogaard then lands four right hands on Shelley, and Shelley looks in trouble. Shelley throws a left at Boogaard, before Boogaard throws another five right hands but only three land. They then lock each other out at arms length, with both guys having the right arms back ready to throw punches.

Boogaard throws a right hand and a left jab at Shelley, Shelley comes back with a right hand. They then swap a right hand each, before coming in close and clinching. Boogaard then lands five solid punches to Shelley's rib cage, Shelley then throws a right hand back at Boogaard. Boogaard then catches Shelley with a good straight right hand on the chin, and Shelley comes in close and holds on. They skate about for a few more seconds, before the lino's come in to stop the fight.

Shelley got the jump on Boogaard at the start, but Boogaard controlled the fight and landed some big punches. Shelley hung in well, but this was a clear win for Boogaard.

Clear win Boogaard.

Jody Shelley vs. Derek Boogaard (Rd ll) / Oct 14, 2006

These two are talking near the blue line and decide to drop the gloves in the Columbus end, neither men wasted time squaring off and just grabbed on with Shelley throwing a right at Boogaard. Boogaard blocked with his left hand and Shelley threw two more right hands at Boogaard, the first hitting Boogaard's shoulder pads and the second grazing the top of his head.

Boogaard then used his reach to land a good right on Shelley who came back with a right of his own, Boogaard then looked to tag Shelley with a left jab before trying the uppercut which missed. Shelley threw a right in response but it fell short and Boogaard missed with a right, both guys were intent on trading bombs but for now were working the jabs with the use of the jersey.

Boogaard connected with a few as Shelley was falling off the mark and Boogaard switched to kidney shots, landing one before being tagged by a Shelley right. Boogaard then came back with a good right and Shelley missed with a right before trying to get Boogaard tied up. Boogaard then managed to get some space and landed a big right on Shelley who took another in succession.

Shelley tried to throw one back but again fell off the mark as Boogaard looked to connect with another right, he then was allowed to follow up again and this time knocked Shelley's helmet off. Boogaard then landed a shot to the back of Shelley's head, Shelley then threw and missed with a left as Boogaard was holding Shelley's right.

Boogaard then landed another right to the side of Shelley's head and was able to follow up as Shelley's defence was poor. Shelley's helmet slid back onto his head as Boogaard threw two more rights which this time Shelley managed to duck, Boogaard then connected with one and tagged Shelley with a left jab. Shelley then threw a right back at Boogaard and Boogaard missed with a wild one which left him lent over.

Boogaard was quick to get positioned again and Shelley tried to play the holding game for a bit, but in doing so set Boogaard up for some kidney shots. Boogaard unloaded four kidney shots before being caught by a Shelley right, Boogaard then waited for Shelley to throw again before catching him with a bomb that shook Shelley as he just tried to hold Boogaard.

Boogaard tried to get the right free of Shelley but in the end both men agreed to call it a day after a great heavyweight tilt featuring some good punches, neither guy afraid to throw them in this one but I think Boogaard bettered the exchange landing more and better punches. Boogaard also caught Shelley with a good shot at the end which Shelley did well to stay up against.

Very good fight here with both men willing to exchange but I'm calling a clear win for Boogaard as he controlled the fight and landed better punches.

Clear win Boogaard.

Jody Shelley wants to counter the momentum of a Brian Rolston goal and sets out to get a scrap going with Derek Boogaard. Boogaard is hesitant but Shelley throws a gloved right and both men shed the mitts. Shelley then misses a pair of rights and Boogaard responds with a missing right. Shelley catches helmet with a right and then Boogaard misses another right before trying underneath with a right but again, not connecting. Shelley misses over the top with a right, then Boogaard replies with a missing right. Shelley misses again on a right and then jersey jabs with Boogaard a little. Boogaard then goes to the body with a right which lands and Shelley comes back with a landing right to the side of the head. Boogaard connects on a right over the top and then Shelley lands a right which almost knocks Boogaard off balance but he stays up. Boogaard gets in closer to Shelley and pulls the jersey in front of his face. They wrestle for a bit but then Shelley steps back from Boogaard and misses a right. Boogaard then lands a straight overhand right before following with another connecting right. Attempting to counter, Shelley throws a right but it misses badly and Boogaard then lands two rights again. Shelley tries to prod with the left, dislodging Boogaard's helmet but Boogaard lands another right which gets Shelley bent over. Shelley decides to switch hands and misses a left wide before Boogaard strikes helmet with a right. Boogaard throws three rights but they're all ducked by Shelley who switches hands again. Shelley comes back with a missing right and pulls off Boogaard's helmet. Boogaard misses a right, and then tries to lean out of the way of a Shelley right but it still connects. Boogaard counters with a right over the top but it misses and Shelley misses a right before moving in close and ducking his head. Boogaard misses on a right that's low on a bent over Shelley, then Boogaard targets the body and lands three rights in a row. Shelley then uprights himself and counters with a right that misses but it causes a right by Boogaard to miss as well. Boogaard stands back and misses an overhand right and then Shelley gets back in close. They begin to wrestle more and Boogaard lands another right to the body before the linesmen move in. Good, lengthy, scrap between two heavyweights. Boogaard landed more and controlled the fight for the win.

This was a good bout with sustained action. Shelley missed a blow, landed an average shot, and missed a punch. He landed an average right and missed two blows. Boogaard missed a punch, landed two average blows, and missed a shot. Jody landed a decent blow and missed two left jabs.

Derek landed a decent punch and missed two left jabs. Shelley landed a decent blow and missed two punches. The men had a brief clinch. Boogaard took control of the fight. He missed a shot, landed a solid connect, and landed a good blow. He missed two punches.

Jody missed a left. Derek missed a punch, landed a solid blow, and missed a shot. Shelley landed a solid connect and a decent right. Boogaard landed four body punches and missed a shot. He landed a good right. Jody landed a solid blow and clinched. The refs stepped in to stop the contest.

I rate this as a clear win for Boogaard. He landed a number of power shots and won the fight by a comfortable margin.

Nice long scrap here. Too much action for me to describe. Great exchange sequence to start, both guys matching each other punch for punch, even matching jersey jabs. Boogaard throws punches at Shelley's kidney region for whatever reason. They tie up briefly, and Boogaard starts to take over, throwing about eight or nine big punches, landing quite a few of them. Shelley doesn't quit, throwing a couple back. Boogaard starts pounding on Shelley's back/kidney, and Shelley pops him good with a solid right. Boogaard pops him right back and that's it as the refs step in. Excellent fight, Boogaard easy win.

As Boogaard skates into the Columbus zone, Shelley faces up to him and drops his gloves. His right is blocked by Boogaard and they take turns throwing big rights that miss the targets. They each throw some left jabs and then go back to the rights. Boogaard lands a kidney punch and then a grazer to the head. Shelley lands 2 to the head and then takes about 5 in a row including some heavy shots to the melon. Shelley starts bobbing his head up and down to avoid any further punches and after dodging a couple, Shelley throws a right knocking the helmet off Boogaard. They each throw some more rights and clinch. Shelley bends over and Boogaard throws some more hard kidney punches. Shelley comes up to land a right, then avoids Boogaard's return punch and they hang on. Good, active fight with Boogaard landing the better shots.

Very nice hit here. Mattias Weinhandl comes into the Blue Jackets zone, full speed, with his down. Malhotra is coming into his own zone to backcheck. He spots Weinhandl with his head down. So he cuts across the blue line and puts a very nice body check on Weinhandl. Fun

Veilleux and Svitov drop the gloves behind the play. Veilleux throws a couple of rights early and misses badly. Svitov comes back with some rights and has trouble finding the range at first but he effectively uses his reach advantage and connects with several punches. Veilleux plays defense except for one right to the helmet near the end. Clear win for Svitov landing more punches. Veilleux did more ducking than throwing.

Alexander Svitov and Stephane Veilleux drop the gloves early in the second period and they get a hold on each other's jerseys with the left. Svitov misses a right poorly and then Veilleux also misses a right fairly badly. Then they start spinning around and Veilleux misses a right, well out of range against the much larger Svitov. Svitov throws eleven consecutive rights, throwing selectively as Veilleux tries to dodge while remaining inactive but can't get away from too many. Svitov lands seven and then Veilleux finally comes back with a wild right that lands and Svitov then misses a right. Then Svitov attempts to remove Veilleux's helmet but can't and they move in tight on each other as they grapple. Veilleux misses a weak right and it puts his in a bad position, bent over Svitov's arm. Svitov waits for a couple moments before landing a right just as the linesmen get in to break it up. An okay scrap. Win Svitov for landing almost every punch in the fight.

Not sure what started it, but off they go. They grapple to start, and both miss a right hand. Svitov ducks a right hand from Veilleux as they start spinning. Svitov comes back with six or seven in a row, landing a few in there. Veilleux smacks one off of Svitov's helmet, and Svitov lands one back before the linesmen can step in. Edge Svitov, but take your shield off you asshole.

Veilleux throws a few punches that fall well short of the mark. Then Svitov gets his right free and swings away. Veilleux does well enough to avoid damage for a while, then gets hit with a pretty nice shot and starts ducking away. Svitov continues swinging, then Veilleux pops up with a very wild swing that grazes the shoulder and helmet. Svitov throws one more right and jars the helmet. Veilleux gets all hunched over and Svitov probably could have cranked him a few more, but he holds off and lets the linesmen come in. Maybe Veilleux thought Svitov would be a wuss or something, but the Euro has absolutely no trouble taking care of business.

Boogaard goes at Foote and puts a shoulder to shoulder hit on him. The play continues and Shelley meets Boogaard and gives him a shove. Foote is trailing and comes in and gives Boogaard a shove himself. Shelley comes back and gives another shove to Derek. The Columbus boys get their gloves up and give Boogaard a couple face washes before the linesmen can get in to separate them. The linesmen move away and Shelley decides to get in another shove.

Schultz is near and Shelley grabs onto his helmet and is pulling, making Nick turn his head to the side. Schultz is grabbing onto Foote to keep his balance, and Foote turns around and has some words before giving him a light gloved punch.

Boogaard hits Foote shoulder to shoulder and Shelley goes at Boogaard and shoves him, these two had already gone at it in this match and Shelley was doing his job and getting involved with Boogaard. Foote then came in and started double teaming Boogaard, Foote then turned and roughed up Schultz and Boogaard laughed in the face of Shelley who got angry and glove punched Boogaard.

Boogaard stood his ground but it was a bit of a yellow thing to do on Foote's part as he felt the need to come in when Shelley was dealing with the situation, Boogaard and Shelley might have gone again if Foote hadn't of made it a three-on-one and I'm not sure weather Shelley would of been relieved with that or not.

Foote and Shelley both jump Boogaard and press him up agianst the glass. The linesmen pull them apart and Boogaard laughes at Shelley which pisses Shelley off and he shoves Boogaard but doesn't even move Boogaard. Then Shelley face washes Scultz and Foote also roughs up Schultzs a bit. This pisses me off though because Shelley went after Boogaard first and they were going to go intill Foote gets in there and jumps Boogaard from behind. Fun

Boogaard is coming around the net and Foote gives him a check. There is a penalty going to be called for interference on Footer. Shelley is roughing up Nummelin along the boards and Boogaard begins to skate towards those two to help his teammate. Foote is following Boogaard, and once Derek turns to face Shelley, Foote hooks Boogaard from behind and pulls him down. Boogaard gets up and surprisingly does not retaliate. Fun

Boogaard is skating behind the net and notices Shelley roughing up one of his teammates, instinctively Boogaard skates towards them but takes a cheap hit to the head from Foote. Boogaard ignores it and carries on going till he gets close enough to confront Shelley about his actions, before he could do so Foote skated up behind him and hooked him with his stick.

Boogaard fell to the ice but was quick to get back up and confront Foote who had been niggling at him all night, the lino's were quick to make sure neither men dropped the gloves but Shelley and Foote didn't do themselves any favours in this match almost double teaming Boogaard every chance they got.
