| Bouillon throws a nice check into the boards stopping a rush into the Montreal zone. Tucker runs Bouillon into the boards. Bouillon gets up, drops his gloves and faces up to Tucker. Tucker moves toward Bouillon and pushes his gloves into Bouillon's face. Bouillon drops him with a right. I wouldn't call this unfair since Tucker clearly knew Bouillon's intentions when he saw him discard his gloves. Tucker doesn't hide from the fight but he doesn't drop the gloves either. He actually eggs Bouillon on with the pushing and shoving and Bouillon just metes out justice. Nice TKO punch. |

Bouillon hits a Toronto player into the boards hard, and gets a cheer from the crowd. Tucker then comes in and he checks Bouillon hard, Bouillon falls to the ice but gets up and drops the gloves and skates towards Tucker.
Bouillon grabs Tucker but Tucker keeps his gloves on, they exchange a few pushes before the lino's come in between them. Tucker gives Bouillon two glove shots to the face before Bouillon responds with a short hard right hand, it lands flush on Tuckers face and Tucker goes down to the ice.
When Tucker got up he had blood coming from his nose, and he's not happy looking as he skates to the penalty box. This is a TKO win Bouillon as he drops Tucker with a punch, Tucker and Bouillon would drop the gloves later on in the season.
TKO win Bouillon. |

| Francis Bouillon levels Kyle Wellwood on a rush and then Darcy Tucker runs Bouillon despite the puck being nowhere near. Bouillon gets up and drops his gloves, going right after Tucker. Tucker shoves at Bouillon as he grabs on and then continues pushing Bouillon back. Bouillon then starts throwing as the referees come in. Bouillon gets off three right hands and lands two with the last one dropping Tucker cleanly. Bouillon lands a right as Tucker is going down and when Tucker gets up, he jaws with Bouillon. Tucker never dropped his gloves while engaged with Bouillon but was shoving back. However Bouillon began throwing and dropped (and cut) Tucker. |

| Nice to see. Boulion nails Wellwood. Tucker comes over and nails Boulion who doesn't have the puck so Boulion drops his gloves. Tucker though pussies out and keeps his gloves on. Boulion grabs Tucker and Tucker pushes him. Boulion says something Tucker gets pissed starts throwing gloves on punches. but Boulion lands one good shot then another that puts Tucker down bloodied. |

| I would call this unfair. Bouillon drills a Leaf and Tucker goes after him. Tucker lays a hard body check on Bouillon, who immediately gets up and drops the gloves. He tries to goad Tucker into a fight but he doesn't drop them. The linesmen come in and Tucker gets dropped by a punch. It looked like Tucker was out of position to defend himself. |

if this stays as a fight its a one punch TKO for Bouillon as he droped Tucker and Tucker had a mouse under his eye from the punch.
Bouillon lays out a Toronto player and then Tucker charges him into the boards and Bouillon wants after him and throws off his gloves and grabs Tucker and trys to get his gloves off, they shove and throw some gloved punches and as the linesman start to make there way between them Bouillon cracks Tucker who drops like a sack of potatoes.
Bouillon showed clear intent to fight. |

Wellwood gets cranked ... Tucker goes after him and levels him ... Bouillion gets up without the gloves and grabs Tucker ... Tucker glove punches him and the linesman begin to come in as Bouillion drills Tucker knocking him to the ice .. Tucker gets up very and angry with blood pouring from his nose and has a small cut under his eye ..

CDD Dec 2, 2006 17:04 ET | if this is going to be called Unfair it needs to be because Tucker never inteaded to fight back, not because of interference. The refs had nothing to do with Tucker not dropping his gloves and fighting back, they had nothing to do with Tucker being droped from one punch. They werent between them yet and if they were Tucker wouldnt have droped to the ice because the ref would have been holding him. So dont say interference is the reason this is unfair it would be because Tucker bitched out and didnt want to fight. | Reply |

How could you tell that Tucker never intended to fight back? Bouillon dropped him with his first punch, so Tucker simply didn't get a chance to fight back. This is different from "never intended to fight back", so your Unfair call is clearly wrong. Please cancel it, otherwise I'll have to do it.
I'm not saying that this fight can't be called Unfair for some other reason, but it clearly can't be called Unfair because Tucker never intended to fight back. | Reply |

Bouillon dropped his gloved and waited for Tucker to fight back, after Tucker punched him three times Bouillon punched him back. Tucker might not have wanted to fight back, but he certainly did. Even if Bouillon did cheap-shot (which he didn't), Tucker deserved it for his cheap-shot beforehand. | Reply |

MarkV Dec 21, 2006 13:02 ET | This site is clearly consistent at being inconsistent. When everyone wants to call the Probert Semenko fight unfair, meanwhile Tucker gets dropped from a punch when his gloves were still on and everyone thinks that's the greatest and no one was allowed to call it unfair?. Being objective is awfully hard, being silly is so easy here it just seems if you don't like a player you lean more towards making bogus reviews. Is it case closed when a player does not drop his gloves, therefore he doesn't intend to fight back? See Clark vs. Fetisov #2 that was called unfair? Yet in my eyes it's the same as Tucker vs. Bouillon. | Reply |
no.7 Dec 21, 2006 14:29 ET | | | everyone wants to call the Probert Semenko fight unfair | Wrong. Several people who reviewed that fight could have called it Unfair but didn't.

The key question is this: are you sure that Tucker's intent was not to fight Bouillon, but trick him into taking a penalty? I don't think so.
By contrast, I think that Bootland's intent was not to fight Tootoo but trick him into taking a penalty.

To me Tucker didn't turtle and niether did Bootland, We've all seen players facewash other players and Tuckers gloved punches had little steam on them, kinda like go ahead take a swing at me. Bootland stopped Tootoo with a little tap on his leg as if to say "let's go" and Tootoo obliged. This is something I have seen a thousand times. re Mar 16, 2007 19:11 ET | This fight is fair. I don't think Tucker had intent to "fight". But he was hitting Boulion with glove shots obvisouly because he didn't think Boulion would throw a punch with the gloves off because he thought Boulion would be scared to take to extra penalty. Well he was wrong.Tucker decided to look tough infront of Toronto fans and he paid for it. Theres no way Boulion suckerd him because he clearly threw the mits off after the hit by Tucker. Tucker cleary saw Boulion wanted to fight. Boulion grabbed on Tucker who decided not to fist fight but to throw glove punches. So Boulion defended him self and threw a punch back. So no I don't think Tucker had intent to fist fight but he made it so Boulion had to defende himself. So yes this is a fair fight. And Tucker deserves a loss on his card because he decided to throw punches. | Reply |
MarkV Mar 17, 2007 08:36 ET | Then how is this different from Bootland and Tootoo? This is the only reason I brought this up, if this is fair how is Bootland and Tootoo unfair? Nevermind the details I have eyes and saw both incidents, and they both have the same smell to them. | Reply |
MarkV Mar 17, 2007 08:48 ET | I have tried and tried to proove mycase for this incident and all I get is rhetoric. I give up with this and hope that you're happy running a site that's consistent at being inconsistent based on who the favourites are. I have to sit here and justify every detail and have gone over all the reasons why it should be a fair fight? I am probably correct by saying that most other users don't have to go through the gauntlet to get their calls turned to the correct one? From intent to fight by dropping his glove, to throwing a gloved punch at Tootoo, to the tap on the shin pads (universal gesture for "Let's go") to the fact that in our own rules intent to fight may still be defined if a player did not get his gloves off in time or was/is playing in Europe and threw punches. This is plain and simple and if the right call cannot be made then I'm confident that there is an EXTREME bias towards players on this site by registered users and it goes ignored, undetected and/or accepted. | Reply |
re Mar 17, 2007 10:46 ET | The difference is.. That Tootoo and Bootland where roughing it up and Tootoo threw his gloves off and surprised Bootland with punches. Tucker clearly saw Boulion throw his gloves off chelllangen him then Boulion grabbed Tucker where Tucker started punching Boulion even though Boulion had his mits off. If you look at the Tootoo incident Tootoo drop his gloves quickly and poped Bootland before Bootland could get his mits off. So theres a difference | Reply |
MarkV Mar 17, 2007 11:12 ET | Bootland had one glove off and waas holding on for dear life after he got punched. Tucker had no steam behind his gloved jabs, he was enticing Bouillion to throw a punch, one which I don't think Tucker thought he would do. Does gloves on mean a fight? We've all seen Tucker throw a punch before and what he can do with it. There is no difference if Bootland dropped at least one of his gloves, even if he was trying to trick Tootoo into a penalty he should have been ready for it like Tucker should have. Besides Tucker's not going to drop his gloves to hit a girl either! | Reply |
re Mar 17, 2007 11:30 ET | Tootoo though suckerd Bootland. Sure Bootland has intent but Tootoo got his punches off before Bootland had a chance to fight back. Tucker started punching Boulion so Boulion acted in self defence and punched Tucker back there for if Boulion had to defende himself its a fair fight.. If this was the case with Bootland it would have been fair too/ | Reply |
MarkV Mar 17, 2007 11:43 ET | Bootland drops his glove and throws a gloved right at Tootoo, is Tootoo supposed to wait for Bootland to punch him 3 times before he knows he's in a fight? Not even close to being a sucker punch, a sucker punch is when the guys not even squared up or looking at you, this was clear as day as Bootland wasn't ready for the faster Tootoo. | Reply |
re Mar 17, 2007 11:46 ET | No but its the same as Dale Purinton vs Cairns Tootoo droped his gloves before Bootland and got in rights before Bootland had a chance so it was unfair because Bootland had no way of fighting back. Tucker threw glove shot when Boulion clearly had the gloves off so what did he expect. | Reply |

no.7 Mar 17, 2007 12:38 ET | Don't give up. If someone comes up with Detroit feed of the Bootland-Tootoo, it may reveal something which can't be seen on the Nashville feed. The same goes for any camcorder footage.
In any case, if any of our fair/unfair calls are wrong, it's only a matter of when, not if, they will be corrected. One day, Darryl Bootland himself may tell us what exactly his intention was in the Tootoo incident. And if Darcy Tucker ever manages to pursuade us that his intention was to draw a penalty in the Bouillon fight, we'll re-consider this fight too. I can't really see that happening, but one never knows. | Reply |
