Eric Boulton win by KO Fun

Wiemer wanted this one, he took a loss to Boulton earlier in the season and was looking for another piece of him. One punch by Boulton and Wiemer is out before he hits the ice, arms frozen in the air while he falls. His nose is bleeding as well. Nice KO.

Worrell and Boulton yap it up afterwards with Boulton threatening to put Worrell to sleep as well (which didn't happen, and in addition to their crap fight from this game, Boulton ended up on the wrong side of a beating to Peter the next season).

EDIT: Lowered the rating.

Biron had just held onto the puck for a whistle when Boulton skated by Wiemer.  They make eye contact and Wiemer issues the challenge as he skates up to Boulton and dangles his stick down.  Boulton accepts the invitation and they quickly go at it.  They each throw one simultaneously.  Boulton ducks Wiemer's punch and lands a huge right and Wiemer drops and goes down to the ice.  Huge KO here.  Afterward Worrell and Boulton were chatting it up and Boulton acted all big and tough because he took out Wiemer and said he would do the same to Worrell.  Ironically enough though next season Worrell would end up breaking Boulton's cheekbone in a fight.

Jason Wiemer and Eric Boulton meet up after a whistle and they want to go after Boulton had jumped Wiemer earlier in the season for fighting Taylor Pyatt. They drop the gloves and soon after grabbing on, Boulton loses his footing and goes to the ice. Boulton misses a right while getting up and then has his elbow pad fall off. They then both throw a right simultaneously, Wiemer missing and Boulton landing, his elbow incidentally catching Wiemer right on the button. Wiemer is instantly knocked out and drops heavily to the ice. Boulton lets go and skates away as it's clear Wiemer is injured. Wiemer makes up to his feet by himself but he's shaken up and gets helped off the ice. Wiemer was also bleeding from the nose after the fight. After going to the box, Boulton gets into some trash talking with Peter Worrell who is on the bench.

This was a bit of a freakish and unusual incident. Boulton missed a right and Wiemer missed a blow. Eric threw a powerful right and missed with his fist. He followed through with the blow and connected with great force to Jason's face with his lower forearm and elbow. Wiemer went down like a ton of bricks and was hurt in the aftermath.

This was a KO for Boulton. Wiemer was flat on the ice for a spell. He got up and almost fell over. An official helped him maintain balance. His teammates helped get him off the ice. His nose was bloody in the aftermath. It was a bit flukey as Boulton attempted a routine punch. He wasn't intending on throwing an elbow.

The reason I give this a 10, not only did Boulton send Wiemer to LaLa-Land, but Boulton was chirping Worrell from the box, suggesting he's going to knockout Worrell aswell. Peter didn't look impressed, so they went later on in the game.

Instant Classic, Wiemer was bleeding from the nose and went off for repairs.

Wiemer had a good start as Boulton was down on his knees for a while. But then both went for a big right hand bomb at the same time, Boulton connecting big time (Wiemer missed narrowly). Great KO for Boulton who did some yapping after the fight from the box.

Eric boulton ko Jason wiemer with a huge right. It's tough to say Boulton hit Wiemer with what hand, forearm or elbow but anyway it's a nice knockout to Watch.

What would be the proper call for this fight? Most people call it a KO but after watching that clip it shows that Eric Boulton's punch misses and his elbow is what hit Jason Wiemer and KO'd him.Reply

KO Boulton.

Do you think that if it happened in boxing, it would be called differently?

The youtube clip is in pretty shitty quality, i have the Boulton DVD with much better quality and i will take a look on Friday. Btw, Grimson KOed Simpson with an elbow/foream combo, imo i stick with the KO call.Reply

Have no idea about boxing but my pure guess would be that it would be called a KO, however you've said numerous times that boxing and hockey fights cannot be called the same so I don't call them the same.

The reason I asked is because when look at this site's criteria for a KO it says that the loser was dropped by a punch. From what I've seen, the loser was not dropped by a punch, he was dropped by an elbow.

If so, the elbow looked accidental to me. Do you think that Boulton's intent was to elbow Wiemer?

The main difference between our rules and rules elsewhere is that we call many things based on intent.

If Boulton's intent was to punch Wiemer and he accidentally KO's him with an elbow, it's a KO. However, if his intent were to elbow Wiemer and he accidentally KO'd him with his hand, it would be a cheap shot by our rules.

After going to the box following the fight, Eric Boulton gets into some trash talking with Peter Worrell who is on the bench. Worrell points at the Buffalo Sabres' bench while shouting across the ice at Boulton. Boulton readjusts his equipment while nodding at Worrell but the points right at him and makes a sleeping gesture. Worrell mockingly claps his hands and says something before nodding his head and ignoring Boulton. Not much action but some definite emotion from both guys during some. They did end up dropping the gloves later in the game. Fun

After Boulton Ko'd Wiemer him and Worrell are having words. Worrell is on his bench Boulton in the box. Boulton does a sigh that meant I'll put you to sleep to. But Worrell just laughs and as expected that wasn't the case because in all Worrell and Boulton fights Worrell wasted Boulton. Fun

After Eric Boulton delivered a devastating knockout on tough guy Jason Wiemer, Peter Worrell was chirping Eric Boulton from his bench and Boulton from the penalty box. Worrell was most probably saying to Boulton to fight him since he knocked out his teammate and since Worrell knows he is a way better fighter than Wiemer (better fight card, and he's a super-heavyweight at 6'7'' and 250 pounds). In the box, Boulton was making a gesture meaning:Hey Worrell, what are you saying, I just put your buddy to sleep. So Worrell was pretty fired up and couldn't wait to take on Boulton later in the game, which happens about 20 hockey minutes later. Eric Boulton is 26-years-old at this time and Peter Worrell is 25-years-old so they are pretty much the same age but Worrell has a bit more experience (it was the 144th career fight for Eric Boulton and the 234th career scrap for Peter Worrell). But when you reach those numbers at that age you were an experience scrapper so they were both very experienced. But Worrell is in fact a better fighter, so, coming into this fight, Boulton knows he's not going to win anyway, even though he does try to win but the outcome is pretty disappointing. They fought against each the season after in a good, fair and long scrap where Worrell completed pounded on Boulton, getting a decisive win, and proving he's better than Boulton in the fighting department. The size different is just way too big.

They drop their gloves near the Sabres' bench and size each other up all the way to the Sabres' zone. Boulton is getting extremely low in attempt to be further away from Worrell's big reach. He comes in close, and tries to land some left jabs while having a grip on Worrell's right sleeve. Only thing is that by reacting to that, Worrell makes Boulton lose his balance and Boulton goes to the ice. Worrell lands a wild body shot. Then, Boulton tries to get back up but the linesmen were already jumping in trying to save Boulton who didn't need help. Worrell then lands another body shot but the linesmen stopped the fight. After the fight, Worrell was chirping at Boulton, making a gesture saying that he turtlled on him.

This is a draw: yes, Worrell landed 2 body shots and Boulton none but Boulton was making about to make a come-back towards the end but the linesmen stopped the fight too early. Also, body shots like that don't really make a difference in an outcome of a fight in my opinion. Also, Boulton didn't turtle: he clearly see that he wanted to have a good scrap but lost his balance and the linesmen thought they had to intervene to stop the fight. Also, I give it a 2 of fun rating because it was a short fight in which they fell down almost right away. It was a very disappointing fight because the two combattants are experienced fighters who usually are at least a minimum amount of entertaining. There was also quite a big build up since Boulton scored a big KO on Worrell's teammate Wiemer and Worrell was seeking revenge.

Peter Worrell wants a piece of Eric Boulton after he knocked out Jason Wiemer in a previous fight. Worrell and Boulton did some trash talking after the fight and later in the game they come together and drop the gloves. Boulton ducks low and moves in on the much bigger Worrell, grabbing onto his jersey sleeve. That lets Worrell get his left arm out of his jersey while Boulton moves in tight. Boulton cannot adjust his grip and after colliding with Worrell, falls to the ice. Worrell throws two rights to the body and lands one before holding back as the linesmen come in. Worrell goes off the ice and taunts Boulton by making a covering up gesture towards Boulton when they skate to the penalty boxes.

There was some buildup to this fight. Boulton scored a big KO win over Wiemer. Worrell pointed at him as Eric was sitting in the penalty box. It was as if to say, "Watch yourself!" Boulton was far from repentant and made a "He's gone to sleep." motion. The two decided to go after the penalty was served. Eric did some backpedaling. He missed a right. Peter landed a decent blow and missed two punches. The refs stepped in and stopped the fight.

This was a draw. Neither man got much going offensively. It was a very disappointing tilt based on the heated spat earlier in the game.

After Boulton floored Wiemer and went to the penaltybox, he started yapping with Worrell and he signaled to Worrell that I'll put you to sleep too. Later in the game the dropped 'em, but it was a crap fight, Boulton went down right away and Worrell then hit him a few times. They went to the penaltyboxes and Worrell was mocking Boulton for turtling on a way to the penaltybox.

Garbage. Boulton looks like he's squatting down to take a crap, he finally grabs Worrell's sleeve and reels him in but then does his "lose balance and fall down" act he pulls when he doesn't want to fight and covers up while Worrell takes a few swings at him. On the way to the box, Worrell makes fun of him for not delivering on the bravado earlier.
