Gary Roberts and Jason Spezza are battling for puck possession near the boards in front of the Penguins bench. Roberts and Spezza throw some good pushes towards each other. Spezza falls back on the door of the Penguins bench. Jarkko Ruutu, standing in the bench, opens up the door causing Spezza to fall right in. While this was developing, Sidney Crosby scored a goal but it didn't count because the whistle was blown way before it went in. Fun

Patrick Eaves is behind the net and is being chased by Josef Melichar. He is either looking for the wrap-around or the pass in front. Armstrong suddenly appears from the middle of the zone and is lining Eaves up. Eaves throws the puck in front of the net but is caught with the shoulder of Armstrong. Eaves goes down, not fully unconscious, but with a limp status that signals that he had no clue what happened. Trainers come out to assist Eaves and the stretcher is brought out. Eaves is escorted off the ice.

Armstrong delivers another punishing hit. Again, anytime a player has his head down, Armstrong will be there to nail him. Armstrong clipped Eaves on the chin, which almost blew Eaves helmet off. This hit was similar to the Letowski hit but a different setting. Great hit, best hit of the series. This also leads to Talbot and McAmmond fighting.

Huge hit. Eaves comes around the Pittsburgh net with his head down and Armstrong absolutely tags Eaves shoulder to head. Huge hit. They are bringing out the strecher to escort Eaves off. Fun

Eaves is carrying the puck behind the net and has Melichar (I think) behind him back checking and Eaves comes around the net with his head down and just gets leveled by Armstrong. That was one of the biggest hits I've seen this year and that shows exactly why you always have your head up. Fun

Great clean hit here by Armstrong. Eaves is carrying the puck and goes around the net with his head down. Armstrong sees this and lines him up, Eaves just gets plowed by Armstrong. Some people say it was a dirty hit, but to me it was a good clean hit. They brings out a stretcher and escort Eaves off the ice. This then soon leads to a fight between Maxime Talbot and Dean McAmmond. Fun

Patrick Eaves skates around the Pittsburgh net with Melichar in pursuit. When he comes out the other side, Armstrong nails him with a solid check. As Eaves lies on the ice, Armstrong is well guarded by one of the officials and McAmmond responds for his team by squaring off with Talbot. After about 15 seconds of posturing by both parties, McAmmond reaches in but Talbot pulls away before they finally come together. Talbot lands a right as he moves in and they latch on. He throws the first 9 punches of the fight unanswered, connecting with several rights to the head. McAmmond has difficulty freeing up his right and misses one before trying to get inside Talbot's defense. He still fails to connect and switches to the left, landing one weak body punch. Talbot continues to throw rights and McAmmond takes a couple more to the noggin before he's able to get his right arm loose. He tosses some haymaker attempts and puts Talbot on the defensive. He misses some shots but lands with a forearm to the head and gets Talbot reeling. McAmmond knocks his helmet off and Talbot leans away in an attempt to avoid the big punches. McAmmond grazes him again a couple of times and Talbot misses with a wild right before falling to the ice. McAmmond lands one last punch as he falls on top of his fallen opponent. This is a very difficult fight to call. Talbot controls the majority of the fight, tying up McAmmond well and scoring with rights. Once McAmmond gets his right loose, Talbot seems to go into panic mode and backs off like he's fighting McGrattan instead of McAmmond. Talbot lands more punches and cleaner blows, particularly in the early going but McAmmond finished stronger and had Talbot on the run at the end. Talbot falls as McAmmond is taking over and his slip could be easily construed as a bailout. Talbot won the early and middle portions of the scrap but looked like he was riding his bicycle out of there at the finish. McAmmond didn't land well enough to get an outright win here but Talbot couldn't sustain his solid early showing. The choice for me is between draw or a narrow Talbot win. Considering the weak finish for Talbot, whether from bailing or just plain fatigue, draw is my call.

Armstrong levels Eaves to the side of the net. Eaves is down hurt, the whistle blows and the Senators are all looking for Armstrong. McAmmond and Talbot come out of the scrum and square off just inside the blueline. After a long squareoff, McAmmond trys to get things going with a jab but Talbot ducks back. They come together as Talbot grabs on and lands one to the side of McAmmonds helmet. They grapple for a bit, McAmmond has Talbot tied up who is trying to throw. Talbot gets his right hand loose and throws four at McAmmond, two of which appeared to land. They trade non damaging punches and grapple for a bit. Then Talbot lands a couple more on McAmmond. Then things open up as they trade three or four punches wildly. McAmmond now gets going for the first time in the fight as he throws five or six punches at Talbot, who goes down. I rated this a draw, Talbot controlled the fight early and middle, while McAmmond came on strong at the end.

Colby Armstrong just destroys Patrick Eaves with a brutal hit to the head. Some rough stuff ensues and Maxime Talbot and Dean McAmmond drop the gloves. They squareoff for a long time before finally getting a grip of their opponent's sweater. As they do, Talbot connects with a right. McAmmond starts to grapple and Talbot begins to rain short, over the top rights, on McAmmond. Seven are thrown by Talbot and four connect. Then McAmmond finally replies, missing a right. Talbot misses three rights while McAmmond gets inside. McAmmond then changes hands and misses a left. McAmmond again changes hands and Talbot stands back. McAmmond misses with an overhand right and Talbot connects with a counter right. McAmmond again misses a right and Talbot responds with two connecting rights. McAmmond however comes back with two rights and connects with one. Then Talbot misses on a right and McAmmond throws two rights with one connecting as Talbot tries to duck away. Talbot counters with a right that misses and McAmmond continues to swing away with three rights, two of which connect as Talbot keeps his head low and loses his helmet. Talbot misses another overhand right and McAmmond throws two rights over the top and connects with one. Talbot misses with a right and the momentum from it carries Talbot to the ice. McAmmond connects with one last right as he's brought down to the ice with Talbot. Good fight. It was all Talbot early as he was landing all the punches and McAmmond was very conservative. Then McAmmond made a great come back and got Talbot playing defense until he went down.

After a big scrum starts because of a huge Armstrong hit, Talbot and McAmmond get away and square off. Talbot controls the first half of the fight, landing some good rights on McAmmond. McAmmond makes a come back and lands some good shots to Talbot as well. McAmmond barely got the upper hand in this one as the refs break it up. Narrow win for McAmmond.

Good fight... Talbot early,McAmmond late. If the fight went any longer Talbot would have been in trouble... However I have to give it a draw maybe an edge to Mc Ammond just for finishing strong but Talbot had the advantage at the start of the fight to warrant the draw.

Good long square-off, McAmmond for a non-fighter looks real relaxed. Let's be real, there are plenty of guys in the league who don't fight that often but can handle themselves. These guys have all seen fights, they know what to do and when called upon you do it. I'm not saying McAmmonds Larry Robinson, but everyone knew Robinson could throw and left him alone or he would sort out a lot of problems really quick. McAmmond came back nicely and got the right free to pummel Talbot to the ice.
