McCrimmon gives Quinn a high stick to the mouth, cutting him bad and I think they said Quinn needed dental work too (but he's a hockey player so he returned later in the game). McCrimmon got a Major and a Game Misconduct. Emotion

Someone from the Wings takes Marois into the boards, but unfortunately Fedorov was there and Marois basically crushed Fedorov's head into the boards. Marois received a penalty even though he was checked into Fedorov. I think Fedorov had a concussion. Imagine your finger is Marois and a grape Fedorov's head. Fun

Dave Lowry narrow win Fun
4
The camera comes in late as Potvin and Lowry are already tied up with two linesmen in the way. Lowry throws a left, then an overhead left that lands, and an uppercut right that lands (Lowry's helmet is knocked off by the Linesmen who are still trying to separate them). Lowry tries to throw another left but the Linesman grabs his arm in mid punch. Both guys hit the ice. Massive interference by the linesmen but Lowry gets the win by landing the only punches...this could be why Potvin was basically pissed off all game long and fighing every shift.

Darin Kimble narrow win Fun

This was a good fight with plenty of action. Kimble was a crowd-pleaser and McKay was involved in a lot of great fights as well. Randy missed a punch and landed a couple of decent blows. Darin missed a right and switched to throwing lefts because McKay had a strong grip on his dominant arm.

Kimble missed a punch and landed a couple of decent lefts. Randy missed a punch, landed a couple of average blows, and landed a solid connect. Darin landed two average lefts and a couple of solid shots.

McKay missed a punch, landed an average blow, and landed a solid connect. He missed a couple of punches. Kimble missed a right and a left. Randy missed a right and landed a decent left. Darin got the better of the late action. He had an effective rally down the stretch.

Kimble got his right hand going again. He missed a punch and landed an average blow. He landed two solid rights. He missed a punch, landed an average shot, and landed a decent connect. McKay landed an average right and a solid shot. Darin landed a pretty good shot as the refs were stepping in.

I rate this as a narrow win for Kimble. McKay gave him a tough fight and I thought the bout was close. Darin landed with better pop and may have landed a couple more blows along the way. The late rally was the difference in my mind.

Darin Kimble narrow win Fun

A lot of punches thrown in this fight. McKay goes with his right, Kimble with his left. Kimble's punches are longer and look heavier, or he is simply better at taking a punch than McKay is.

After the initial long exchange of punches is over, they tie each other up, jostle for a while, then Kimble starts swinging with his right. It looks impressive, but he fails to land anything. Kimble's best moment comes when the linesmen are about to move in. He suddenly comes up with a straight left which lands with an oomph.

Kimble punches the air signaling victory, and he gets a narrow one from me.

Probert knocks down Bassen from behind near the boards (in today's NHL this would be a checking from behind major and a game) and everyone jumps in. Probie is the only one to drop the gloves but nothing happened fight-wise. Both Probie and Stevens received roughing minors. Fun

Rematch: Lowry dumps the puck in and Potvin gives him a decent check against the boards, but the camera follows the puck into the corners before jumping back to Potvin/Lowry. Lowry gets Potvin's helmet off, but he's happy just holding on while Potvin tries to land punches. Potvin gets Lowry's helmet off, gets some separation, throws 3 lefts (all missing) and pushes Lowry to the ice.

Glen Featherstone clear win Fun
5
During a stoppage in play the Detroit Red Wings big rookie forward Keith Primeau gives the St. Louis Blues tough guy Kelly Chase a shot to the head from behind, while Chase is already tied up with another Red Wing (Bobby Dollas). The Blues veteran defenseman Glen Featherstone isn't impressed at all and he tries to pull Primeau out of the crowd of players in the ensuing scrum. Primeau, who really wants no part of Featherstone, tries to hide inside the crowd of players, and turtles for dear life when Featherstone tugs at him.
A linesman, Pat Dapuzzo, does his best Kevin Collins imitation and tries to stay in between the two to keep them separated, thus stupidly risking his own safety by getting himself in the line of fire of the flailing fists when the two behemoths start going at it. Dapuzzo eventually sees the futility in trying to keep the two of them from fighting and he leaves to try to help the other linesman (Collins) break up the Chase-Dollas fight instead.

Featherstone eventually manages to pull Primeau out of the scrum. Since the linesmen are busy elsewhere, the Red Wing forward has no other choice but to try to defend himself. Featherstone easily beats Primeau in the short bout that ensues. Primeau throws the first punch, which misses, After that Featherstone more or less rag-dolls Primeau, who has trouble keeping his balance during the scrap. The Red Wings player eventually goes down in a turtle mode once more, but gets up quickly only to take one more haymaker from Featherstone and he goes down again, and this time it means the end of the fight. When Primeau gets up he is obviously frustrated and takes a swing at the Blues Rod Brind`Amour before the zebras can escort him to the penalty box.

Not a good showing here at all by Primeau, first with his cheap sucker punch to Kelly Chase from behind, then by turtling when Featherstone wanted a piece of him and lastly by getting pummeled by the Blues defenseman.

With Dollas and Chase starting to fight, Primeau comes in 3rd man and everyone jumps in. Featherstone grabs Primeau and pulls him from the scrum and they pair off...and in one of the few times I've ever seen this happen the Linesman pushes both players away from the scrum so they can fight. Both players are talking, Primeau throws a right, Featherstone throws a left that knocks Primeau off balance, then a right to the back of the helmet. Primeau falls down, gets up and Featherstone throws another right and they both fall to the ice. Featherstone completely controlled Primeau from the moment Primeau missed his first punch...almost a ragdolling after that.

Potvin and Marois were paired off basically skating around the ice together while Featherstone and Primeau fought. Primeau gives Brind'Amour a punch and Potvin (while Marois hanging on) goes after Brind'Amour (who has a hold of Primeau's jersey). Potvin and Marois finally go and it's quick...Potvin fires off 9 quick rights to Marois' 7 rights. Potvin landed his first one flush and Marois had his head down the rest of the fight blindly throwing. That punch cut Marois pretty good. Funny side note, as the linesmen was escorting Marois to the box he must have got blood on him and he wipes his hand on the back of Marois' jersey.

While McKay and Butcher were going Probert went after Lowry. Probie dropped the gloves and had Lowry on the ice throwing punches (Lowry still had his gloves and stick). The linesmen had to physically pull Probie off Lowry and restrain him. Both players received roughing minors and 10-min misconducts.

Chiasson gives Rich Sutter a major league cross-check from behind right to the lower back area...as John Kelly stated, Chiasson was "like a bad guy in an old western". Chiasson received a 5-min Major and a Game Misconduct, plus a minor for an earlier penalty...so the Blues had a 7 minute power play. Emotion

They drop the gloves and are ready to go behind the net...some dancing around, but the linesmen comes in to break them up (kinda like what you see now). Funny side note, the camera angle was from behind the net (from the stands area) so you could see the linesmen coming from a mile away, looked like he was at the blue line and he just started hauling ass. Both players got Unsportsmenlike Conduct penalties, but they dropped the gloves and were ready to go. Fun
