They had a small roughing early in the game before their two fights. Payette sent a Viper crashing into the boards so Ferone skated over to confront Payette. It looked like Payette elbowed Ferone when he arrived and then threw a gloved right at him. Ferone fell over so Wilson and another Viper grabbed Payette to stop him throwing any punches. Ferone stood up and they had a chat for about 15 seconds. Ferone had lost his helmet and dropped his gloves in the scrum, Payette just dropped one glove. They both got sent to the box. Fun

The action starts as Coventry's Carlson scores 6-1 goal from a breakaway. For some reason, he starts skating towards Newcastle bench to get some guy. Coventry players leave their bench and brawl has started. Can't see exactly what happens in the backround, but some players shove and wrestle in the Newcastle bench. Tough guys Ferone and Payette find each other and start fighting at center ice while all the players concentrate to watch it. There was probably all the action during the bench-clearing brawl. Fun

The brawl started due to a check on Adam Calder (Coventry). Calder didn't like it and went after the guy, who went onto his bench on a line change. Rob Trumbley (Newcastle) who was on the bench started having words with Calder with a linesman in between them. I believe Trumbley was the guy that Carlson jumped at.Reply

This fight happened during the big scuffle infront of the players benches, Andre Payette stood back from the scuffle, dropped his gloves and looked for Ferone. Payette then goes into the scuffle and tells Ferone to come out and fight, Ferone moves out from behind a few players and they grapple on. They start to skate away from the scuffle both just wreslting the hands and having a few words. Payette makes the first move, he lefts his right up and attempts to grab Ferone's helmet, in return Ferone throws a left which stops Payette in his tracks. Payette moves back and swings in a right in which Ferone manages to duck, this causes Payette to swing over the top and expose his head, Ferone then throws a right which lands cleanly on Payette's face, he follows it up with a second which lands but misses a third. Payette then moves his body up and grabs on, Ferone pushes Payette's helmet off and pulls back. Payette throws a right which hits Ferone's helmet but Ferone comes back with two lefts which both land on Payette's bare head. Ferone grabs on and switches to his right hand but Payette manages to block the three rights that he throws. Payette then comes back viciously throwing big rights, he throws five big rights with one hitting the helmet and another two cleanly hitting the face. Ferone grapples on and stops Payette from throwing anymore, Payette then tries a right but its too close to make any real impact. They continue to tussle at close quarters, both are trying to throw but can't make anything happen because of the grips. Ferone starts to try and push Payette backwards but its Payette who gets free first. Payette tries a right which misses and results in Ferone being free to throw. Ferone throws a right which misses, followed by a right by Payette, they then throw one more right each but neither guy can land. Payette then takes control for a moment throwing two rights both landing, Ferone starts to come back throwing some rights which land. Both guys take a split second break and start throwing again. Both are throwing rights with their last ounces of strength but neither guy can land, the linesman move a little bit and you can see they plan to stop it. Payette and Ferone stop throwing and grapple on closely, they say to each other "good fight" and break up before the linesman can get in.

Good battle between the two, seemed pretty equal to me, both guys threw a lot and both landed nice shots. DRAW

Paul Ferone narrow win Fun

A brawl has erupted in front of the two teams benches and the two benches start to spill out onto the ice. It was started by Dan Carlson taking a run at a Vipers players in front of the benches after Carlson had just scored a goal for the Blaze. It's mostly pushing and shoving but Ferone and Payette come together and pull each other out of the scrum of players.

They maneuver themselves through all the dropped equipment and make their way out to centre ice while holding onto each other. Both then start to grapple with each other trying to free an arm up to throw punches. Payette attempts a right hand but this is blocked by Ferone and he counters with a quick left hand that lands on Payette.

Payette then misses with a wild right hand that leaves him in a bad position and Ferone throws three right hands at Payette landing the first two and missing the last. Payette gets himself turned around and throws and lands a right hand but he then gets caught with two quick lefts from Ferone. Ferone looks in control of the early stages of this fight.

Ferone then throws three quick right hands at Payette landing two upper cuts and missing the last punch. Payette then lands a right hand to the side of Ferone head and then throws a right upper cut before both guys chuck two heavy punches at each other, Payette throwing two rights and Ferone throwing two lefts with both guys landing both punches.

They then grapple with each other for a few seconds before Payette lands a right to the back of Ferone's head. They continue to grapple with each other for about five seconds before Ferone lands two right hands on Payette, one to his face and a right hand to Payette's mid section. Payette then lands a right to the side of Ferone's head.

Both fighters then miss with a right hand before Payette throws another threw rights at Ferone landing two. Ferone then lands a right hand on Payette's body, before Payette throws two tired looking right hands back at Ferone and Ferone throws a weak left back at Payette. Neither guys lands here and both look exhausted at this stage.

They tie each other up and skate in towards the other players with Ferone throwing a short fight hand at Payette that falls short of the target. They are still holding onto each other in a clinch with Ferone attempting to get lose at the end but Payette holds him tight until a lino steps in between them, and they then separate from each other to end the fight.

This was a very good long fight between these two with Ferone controlling the early parts of the fight and Payette coming back into the fight in the middle stages. Ferone throws and lands more punches overall in this fight so I'm giving him the narrow win in this one after watching the game DVD clip. Ferone also had his helmet on the whole fight while Payette lost his early on in the scrum, so some of Payette punches where hitting helmet while Ferone's were hitting Payette's head.

Narrow win Ferone.

The Blaze score a breakaway goal notched up by Carlson, but instead of celebrating, takes a run at the Vipers' bench. After the Vipers' player was hit on the bench, a scrum ensues in front of the Vipers' bench, and the Blaze bench clears. The Vipers' bench is hesitant to clear, but eventually does and the scrum gets a lot bigger. Gloves and sticks are dropped but no fighting takes place in the early going.

Payette comes off the Blaze bench from the far side and takes time to drop his gloves and adjust his elbow pads before engaging in the scrum. Meanwhile Ferone is at the centre of things in the scrum, and Payette intentionally goes in to find him as they had a coming together earlier in the game. The scrum begins to spread as Ferone and Payette grab on and begin to move out of the crowd.

Payette freed his right arm up and landed the first punch to the side of Ferone's helmet. Ferone then looked to land a left to the top of Payette's head as he lent forward. Payette then missed with a big hook, and Ferone tossed a few right hands at Payette as he was off balance, with the first looking to land cleanly and the following two sleightly off the mark.

Payette got his bearings back and was able to land a right to the side of Ferone's head. Ferone then landed a short left to the top of Payette's head before missing two quick lefts as Payette tried to get himself into a position to respond. Ferone landed another right to the side of Payette's head followed by a uppercut to the body, and Payette hit back with a good right to the top of Ferone's helmet.

Payette followed up with a shot to ribs followed by two more rights to the side of Ferone's helmet. Ferone tried to fire back with the left but was landing off the mark, and both guys locked up as they both tried to throw. Payette landed a couple of rabbit punches on Ferone while they were in close, both guys then opened up and connected with rights, Ferone the more effective as he landed a hard right on Payette.

Ferone missed as he tried to follow up and Payette was able to answer with an overhand right. They both exchanged punches, and Payette was able to follow up, where as Ferone fell short. Payette then began to take over as he was able to land two more right hands on Ferone before pausing to adjust his bearings. Both guys then traded again, but both guys were looking tired at this point.

Payette landed a body shot on Ferone, before getting in close for a breather. Ferone landed a short right on Payette, who did nothing to respond as both guys came to a stand still. The officials didn't have to separate the two as they ended matters with a gentle push. They were then escorted off ice, both looking gassed. This was a good fight, both landed some decent shots, both landed roughly the same amount of punches, with Ferone the more active on the whole. Neither guy was hurt at any stage in a good scrap and they were matching each other punch for punch for most of the fight, so this one's a draw.

Draw.

Un-finished.

Paul Ferone clear win Fun

Ferone goes after Payette for the second time in this game and challenges him to drop the gloves which Payette agrees to, so they then remove their helmets and square off near centre ice.

Payette comes in and throws out a jab which falls short before backing away again. Payette then comes in and grabs onto Ferone with his left arm but Payette gets caught with a left jab from Ferone. Payette then misses with a right hand and Ferone also misses with a right, before Payette misses with two more right hands and lands one to the back of Ferone's head.

Ferone then misses with two right hand before catching Payette with a solid looking right hand on the jaw. Ferone follows that up with six quick right hands with three landing forcing Payette down to the ice. Payette tries to get back up again but Ferone holds him down and the lino's come in to end the fight. Payette heads straight for the locker room joking with one of the lino's on the way there, while Ferone heads to the penalty box.

This was a close enough fight at the start but Ferone lands one good right hand on Payette then follows up with a fast flurry of punches forcing Payette down to the ice for the clear win.

Clear win Ferone.

Ferone and Payette are out on the ice and meet up in front of the penalty boxes. Ferone looks to ask Payette to go, and the gloves are dropped with no hesitation from either guy. They square off briefly and Payette moves in to try and grab Ferone, which he succeeded in doing on the second attempt. They grabbed on and Payette is first to get a shot away as he lands a right to the back of Ferone's head.

Ferone struggled to get set-up in the early goings and took another right from Payette, this time to the side of his head. Payette followed up with another two decent right hands on Ferone before Ferone managed to respond with his right. Ferone threw two rights at Payette, the first landing short and the second making a weak connection. Payette threw another right at Ferone, but this time Ferone was able to counter him.

Ferone stunned Payette with a good right hand and forced him to lean over. Ferone opened up with a quick combination of rights in which two were landed to the back of Payette's head. Ferone then tagged Payette with a uppercut followed by another right to the back of his head. Payette was leaning right over at this point, and Ferone forced Payette off balance, causing him to slip and fall to the ice.

Ferone came down on top of Payette, who looked to try and get up quickly. Ferone wrestled him back down to his knees and held him there until the lino's came in. Both guys then got to their feet and skated away. This was their second scrap of the game, and third overall. Ferone gets the nod in this one as he recovered from a bad start to rock Payette and take control at the end, for this he gets the win.

Clear win Ferone.

Payette controlled the beginning, but then Ferone suddenly got the advantage. He landed a couple of rights and forced Payette to the ice. No doubt about the winner.
