Gillis and Derek Smith apparently had an altercation in the moments leading up to the attack by Brown. There was a big scrum at the appropriate part of the video and people were pushing and shoving. Brown snuck up to the left shoulder of Gillis and drilled him with a left hook.

This was as cheap and as dastardly of a play as could be. Brown relied on the element of surprise to land a hard sucker shot on a completely unsuspecting opponent. Gillis was down for several seconds. Normand Rochefort grabbed Brown and upended Dave. He did not throw a punch, but wrestled him down to the ice.

This could possibly be upgraded to a fight. Brown intended on throwing a powerful left from the start. The bout was manifestly unfair because Gillis did not see it coming. It would be a TKO in an unfair bout. It was not a KO because Paul cleared the cobwebs and fortuanely was able to skate away after such an irresponsible and unconscionable move by Brown.

Do you think that Brown's intention was to fight Gillis as opposed to injure him?Reply

In this case it should probably remain a cheap shot.Reply

Eriksson and Hunter were pushing and shoving along the boards. They dropped the mitts and Thomas missed with a weak right hand. He got Dale in a headlock and the men did an extended amount of wrestling. The officials were quick to step in to break up the fight.

Other altercations were taking place on the ice simultaneously. Dale got his right hand free and just missed with a right hand with some mustard on it. The long boring bout came to an end.

I rate this fight as a draw. Both men threw a right hand apiece and it should be regarded as a fight. It was hard to tell if any blows connected as the two were wrestling on the inside. I could not detect anything of significance landing, so I think the fight ought to be regarded as a draw.

Not even sure this was an actual fight, if it was it was a bad one.
