I was watching this game when all hell broke loose late in the third with Montreal on their way to a 5-2 victory. First off, Guy Lapointe goes at it with Keith Magnuson in a spirited draw. Next up, Marc Tardif and Paul Shmyr, for what seemed like 5 minutes. Then, Danny O'Shea and Phil Roberto ( with those great looking sideburns) start throwing. The result of this bout escapes me as I was focused on the first 2 fights. There ya go.Reply

Marc Tardif clear win Fun
5
I saw this one on television, way back. Tardif, who was a pretty good fighter early on in the NHL, and later became a scoring star in the WHA, took the decision with a flurry of punches, but here's the funny part: the fight degenerated into an unequal hair-pulling contest. Shmyr, on the receiving end of the blows, grabbed Tardif's hair, which was long and fluffy-dry in the style of the times- Shmyr was able to get a good grip, neutralizing Tardif's punching. Tardif tried to answer in kind, seizing Shmyr's own hair- but the Blackhawk had his cut short, and slicked down with some kind of grease, so Tardif's hands kept slipping off. He was at a serious disadvantage once the cat-fight hair-tugging started. I give the decision to Tardif for winning the first, punching, half of the bout; but Shmyr made something of a comeback thanks to Vitalis.
