Daniel Carcillo win by KO Fun

Round two between Barch and Carcillo the last time these two squared off was last season and Barch took the win on that occasion.

Barch came into this fight with 19 fights for the season and a record of 7-5-6, Carcillo came into fight this with 20 fights and a record of 8-6-4.

The first two periods of the game were very physical and it was just a matter of time before it all kicked off, Barch checks a Coyotes player into the boards and Carcillo followed in with a check on Barch.

Barch pushes Carcillo away and slashes Carcillo with his stick, Carcillo fires the puck away and stares at Barch and after a few seconds of glaring at each other both Barch and Carcillo drop the gloves and skate away from the equipment.

Carcillo and Barch square off for about eight seconds and Barch throws a left hand to grab Carcillo's jersey which missed, Carcillo also throws a left hand for the jersey and missed.

Barch and Carcillo square off for a further five seconds and Carcillo throws a huge right which misses, Barch and Carcillo begin squaring off again and after four seconds Carcillo quickly grab hold of Barch's jersey and throws a huge right which drops Barch flat on his face.

Barch was dazed momentarily by the punch and tries to get back to his skates after about 3 seconds of being on the ice which causes Barch to fall over again, ref helps Barch on to his skates and checks to see if Barch is fine.

Barch with the help of the ref goes towards the penalty box and mutters something to Carcillo as he passes him before taking a seat inside the penalty box.

A very short fight with a lot of squaring off, Carcillo lands a massive blow with only one punch thrown to heavyweight Barch.

Carcillo wins by KO.

Daniel Carcillo win by KO Fun

With his team trailing by three goals, rookie Daniel Carcillo jumped off the Phoenix bench and made his way over towards Dallas heavyweight Krys Barch. Both Barch and Carcillo were two guys who had spent quite a bit of time in the minors and were hoping to make a solid impression with their teams. Barch saw Carcillo approaching him and got his arms up to deflect an incoming check from Carcillo. The two battled for the puck along the boards. They exchanged cross checks and eventually started jawing at eachother. After a few moments, the combatants decided to drop the gloves. Carcillo was eager to start round two and avenge his loss to Barch the season prior.

They had a big square off as the crowd roared, unable to contain their excitement for the upcoming battle. After a few moments of sizing each other up, Barch made a move. He managed to grab on to Carcillo's jersey but it wasn't a real firm grip. Barch was able to dodge a left hand from Carcillo, letting go of his jersey in the process. Carcillo nearly stumbled but managed to keep his footing and they squared off once again. After a few moments, Carcillo took a few wild swipes with both hands but was unable to get a hold of Barch's jersey. For the third time, the combatants squared off. They seemed a lot more eager to go now and Carcillo was able to finally grab Barch's jersey and start throwing punches.

Carcillo came across with a huge right hand that was able to land flush on the jaw of Barch. Barch crumpled down to the ice like a sack of potatoes and was sprawled out for a moment. Carcillo calmly skated away as Barch slowly got back up on his skates. He was woozy and stumbled around while trying to jaw with Carcillo. The linesmen managed to keep Barch on his skates and escorted him off to the box as the crowd roared with approval of Carcillo's victory. It took a long time to start up but the bout really added some energy to both teams.

This was an excellent fight. Carcillo knew he needed to spark his team and went right after Barch. He managed to convince him to drop the gloves though it was a while until punches were exchanged. The combatants had three seperate square offs; neither man wanted to get out of position. They were each taking a defensive approach and were quick to let go if the grip on their opponent's jersey wasn't quite right. The crowd got rather annoyed at how long the battle was taking to actually get started but their patience was rewarded. Carcillo connected with an absolute haymaker that caused Barch to drop to the ice like a ton of bricks. Barch was totally out of it but did his best to chirp at Carcillo and appear to be absolutely fine.

It was a crushing defeat for Barch and he never fully recovered from the blow. He struggled in the following seasons and was regularly scratched. Barch voiced his frustration over this time but was unable to bounce back and was eventually traded away from Dallas. He was demoted to being a healthy scratch most nights and whenver he was in the lineup and looking to drop the gloves, it often resulted in a loss. It is unfortunate that Barch's promising career as an enforcer was sidelined because of this tough loss.

I judge this as a KO win for Carcillo. He dropped Barch with a right hand that caused Barch to hit the ice hard and he was woozy getting up. It took a long time for the fight to actually start and the suspense was incredible. When Carcillo connected with that blow, it released the incredible amount of energy that had been built up. This was one of the most spectacular knockouts of all time.

Carcillo-Barch

It starts with Barch hitting a Phoenix player and Carcillo coming in with a hit to Barch. Barch then shoves Carcillo and Carcillo responds with a cross check. Both players then drop the gloves. They shadow box for a while with both players trying to get the grab and first punch in. Carcillo throws a big right and just misses. They skate around a bit longer. Carcillo throws another big right and connects with Barch's jaw. Barch falls flat on his face and is very wobbly getting up but still has time to chirp with Carcillo as he passes. KO win for Carcillo.

They drop 'em and square off. Barch tries to jump in and grab Carcillo, but misses and Carcillo attempts to hit him with a left that Barch ducks under. They pose a little more, Carcillo now tries to jump in with a right that might have connected but they stay separated. They still skate around without having engaged and then Carcillo just clocks Barch on the jaw with a massive right that sends him sprawling face first to the ice. Barch tries to pop back up but this one's over, he's still woozy and needs the ref's help to stay up. Hence the danger of squaring off, not being prepared to get hit. Barch left his chin in the air and Carcillo got him just like Downey got Boulerice years ago.

Daniel Carcillo hits Krys Barch along the boards and after some cross checking and choice words, they decide to drop the gloves. Barch tries to grab hold of Carcillo but misses. Carcillo throws an awkward left that also misses. They circle each other and Carcillo kind of lunges with the left and then throws a big right that looks to land pretty solidly. They back away again. Barch skates in towards Carcillo who seems to be measuring him up. When Barch is in range, Carcillo feigns with the left and drills Barch squarely in the jaw, dropping him instantly. Carcillo skates away as he knows it's over. The linesman helps Barch to his feet and you can clearly see the wobbling knees and the blank expression of a knockout victim. Devastating KO win for Carcillo.

Damn. What a KO by Carcillo here. 2 rookies fighters here and 2 middleweights and this fight was awesome. After a few instances where they almost locked up and grabbed each other Carcillo hammers Barch with a right that drops him to the ice. It was a KO because Barch was obviously having difficulty staying on his feet and he had to be held up by the linesmen. One of the best fights of the year no question.

Daniel Carcillo VS Krys Barch April 3rd / 2008

This is a very rough game between the Pheonix Coyotes and the Dallas Stars, and late into the game, a pair of 13's decide to drop the gloves. Daniel Carcillo and Krys Barch have the mitts off and square off, they are dancing around nicely, both trying to get a hold of one another. After dancing around for quite a while, Carcillo finally gets a hold of Barch and throws a right hand that connects to Barch, but then Carcillo lets go of his grip on Barch's jersey and they continue to dance around again waiting for an opportunity to arise to close in once more. Carcillo then gets a good hold of him again and throws a haymaker that drops Barch to the ice like a sack of potatoes.

KO Carcillo here, very exciting. Wow Carcillo seems to have one hard punch.

Daniel Carcillo wants to spark his team which is down by three in the third period. Carcillo is out with fellow enforcer, Krys Barch and they agree to go. The gloves are dropped and they squareoff. Barch tries to grab on but Carcillo evades it and misses a left as Barch moves back. They adjust and then Carcill moves in and misses with a left while attempting to grab onto Barch but Barch steps back. They continue to squareoff and Barch moves in on Carcillo. Then Carcillo grabs hold with the left while simultaneously landing a bomb of a right directly on the chin of Barch. Barch gets up and is out of it and chirps at Carcillo who skates around the ice, clearly pumped up from the fight. KO win Carcillo in a great fight.

Carcillo and Barch drop the gloves in the neutral zone. They have a long shadow box session, and then come together. But, they quickly separate. They again shadow and do the same thing. This time when they come together Carcillo throws a right hand bomb that flatens Barch to the ice.

KO because he was dropped by a single punch.

From hockeyfights.com forum:

Starts after Carcillo runs into Barch on the boards they push and shove and decide to go. The square off and try to grab on Carcillo throws one that connects and they seperate. They come back in as Barch wants to go and as they do Carcillo lands a right to the chin solid knocking Barch out and to the ice face first. Great punch by Carcillo!

After viewing the replay I don't know Barch was all the way out, but man he didn't know where he was for a minute!

It's late in the game and Dallas is ahead 3-1. Ott and Carcillo are on the ice and Ott wants to avenge Barch's heavy loss to Carcillo earlier and with his team down by 2 Carcillo has no problem obliging. After a whistle Ott seeks out Carcillo and shoves him. They quickly get rid of the gear and start throwing em. Carcillo gets the first wave of punches in knocking Ott's helmet off and he knocks him to his knees twice early on but Ott recovers and stays in it. They wrestle and go near the boards and Ott lands 2 rights before Carcillo responds with one that lands on the back of Ott's head. Ott then tries to shake off his elbow pad as they grapple and Carcillo hits him in the side of the head with a right. They spin around grappling and Carcillo hits Ott's shoulder with a right but he lands the next one. Ott throws a left but it misses Carcillo and they go up against the boards. Ott throws a few rights but fails to land one and Carcillo misses as well. They then end up falling to the ice ending the fight. Carcillo gets the narrow win for landing more shots here.

Steve Ott sees Daniel Carcillo battling in the corner and wants a fight with him since Carcillo knocked out Ott's teammate, Krys Barch in an earlier fight. Ott approaches Carcillo after a whistle and gets a slight jump on Carcillo. Ott misses a right as they grab on with the left, then Carcillo throws a series of five rights as Ott tries to get in tight and Carcillo lands four while Ott instead falls down. Carcillo connects on a right as Ott gets back up and pushes Carcillo into the boards. Ott falls down again but gets back up and wrestles with Carcillo in tight. They go back to the boards with Ott missing a right before they go down the boards. Ott grabs Carcillo's leg and lifts it off the ice but then Ott lets go and misses a right. Carcillo stays on his feet and returns with two rights, landing one as he gets some space from Ott. Ott shakes his elbow pad off and there's a pause before Carcillo misses a right. They pause again and then Carcillo lands a right before Ott grabs at Carcillo's leg. Carcillo lands a right but then Ott switches hands and lands a left as they grapple. Carcillo misses a right as they go back to the boards and Ott switches hands again. Orr throws two rights and lands one and goes back in tight before connecting on a right. Then Carcillo gets some space back between them and throws two rights, landing one before falling down and dragging down Ott as well. Win Carcillo for landing more punches than Ott but Ott did well in this one and hung in there with the tough, rookie, middleweight, Carcillo. Pretty good fight.

After Daniel Carcillo earlier KO'ed Krys Barch, he is instigated into a fight by Steve Ott. Ott immediately throws what I call a cheapshot right. Carcillo quickly drop his gloves and responds with a right of his own. Carcillo then drags Ott along the end boards, hammering him with rights and dropping Ott to his knees 2 seperate times. Ott gets back up and they wrestle around the net a bit. They end up back into the boards and Ott softly lands an overhand right. Ott then goes for a single leg takedown. When Carcillo is able to keep his feet, Ott decently lands an overhand right. Carcillo responds with a solid right to the back of the head, followed by another right that weakly lands to the back of the neck. Ott gets in a left jersey jab and Carcillo lands a decent right in response. Carcillo appears to weakly land a right to the top of the head. More grappling and Ott grazes chin with a short left. Carcillo throws an overhand right but it lacks range as Ott is ducking. Ott throws 2 rights both of which appear to land decently. Ott tries another right but most was absorbed by shoulder pad. Carcillo is leaning down now and seems to land a right to the hamstring area, followed by a decent right to the head. The last punch puts Carcillo off balance and they both go down as the linesmen move in.

A pretty entertaining scrap and a narrow win for Carcillo. Props to Ott for sticking up for his KO'ed teammate.
