Donald Brashear vs. Sandy McCarthy / Mar 20, 1992

These two are lined up next to one another for a face off and when the puck is dropped both guys drop the gloves and grab on. They tie up and McCarthy tries to free his right but Brashear has a McCarthy in a bear hug, McCarthy lands a couple body shots and a right handed rabbit punch as Brashear holds. McCarthy switches to his left and lands a short one to the face of Brashear as he continues to hold.

McCarthy tries to land a big uppercut up the middle before throwing three noogies that didn't look to land. McCarthy then switched to his left, where he could throw with some leverage but Brashear was able to block the punches as they came at him with his right arm. McCarthy then went back to his right and threw three rabbit punches that all seemed to fall short.

McCarthy then landed a body shot and two more rabbit punches that both got in. By this point Brashear was lent over and McCarthy decided to take Brashear down to end the fight as Brashear wasn't doing anything to fight back.

McCarthy takes a easy win here. Brashear grabbed on right away and didn't try and fight through the entire duration, just held on and tried to keep the fight close quarters. McCarthy heavily out landed Brashear, although he wasn't able to land anything decent as Brashear didn't allow him to. McCarthy gets the clear win though as he was only guy doing anything in this fight.

Clear win McCarthy.

At the faceoff, they talked about it and they decided to go without squarring off. McCarthy tried some lefts and rights to the face and on Brashear's body. McCarthy kept pounding Brashear's back of the head and with some heavy lefts to the body. McCarthy all the way in this fights as he landed a couple more punches behind his head before wrestling Brashear down.

These two drop the gloves after a face off half way through the second period, and they tie up straight away. McCarthy then starts throwing short punches with both hands to the side of Brashear's head as Brashear tries to tie McCarthy up. McCarthy continues to throw more short punches until Brashear ties him up well so McCarthy then slams Brashear down to the ice for the win.

McCarthy is the only guy throwing punches in this fight and controls Brashear through out, so this is a clear win for McCarthy in this scrap.

Clear win McCarthy.

These two drop the mitts after the face off and latch onto each other. Brashear gets in tight and puts a death hug on McCarthy. Sandman knocks Brashear's bucket off and starts throwing rabbit punches, using both hands. He fires a lot of blows in about twenty seconds and then slams Brashear to the ice.

Brashear was holding on for dear life and didn't throw a single punch. It's a clear win for McCarthy despite the fact, that he didn't land anything really solid here. Pretty boring in-tight fight, typical for young Brashear.

McCarthy was the only one throwing any punches in this one as Brashear was strangely inactive and held on the entire fight, McCarthy lands a few short rights and receives none in return, clear win McCarthy.

Kovacs landed a solid hit on Nobili in the corner, they talked about it before dropping the gloves ans square off in the Verdun's zone. Kovacs made the contact first as they get a good hold of each other. Kovacs landed the first good punch of the fight, a right on Nobili. Kovacs landed two more lefts behind the head of Nobili and he removed Nobili's helmet. Kovacs gets another left behind his head and they fell down.

More wrestling than fighting Kovacs was able to free himself up just enough to land a couple and score a narrow win.

Another chapter in a long rivalry between two great fighters. It was definitely much better scrap than the first round from this game. They drop 'em after the neutral face off and start trading rabbit punches. This in-tight exchange is very even at the early stages, but then McCarthy takes over the fight. Brashear quickly runs out of the steam and starts holding on. At the end McCarthy gets his right arm free for a bit and pummels Brashear with some hard shots to the head till the linesmen come in.

Decent in-tight scrap, pretty long one. McCarthy picks the clear win for landing much more than Brashear.

Donald Brashear vs. Sandy McCarthy (Rd ll) / Mar 20, 1992

Brashear and McCarthy drop the gloves for the second time in this game. This time it's straight off the face-off to start the third period. They throw the gloves down as the puck is dropped and grab on to one another immediately, tying up as they did in their first fight in second period. McCarthy starts off throwing five rights over Brashear's shoulder with three looking to get in to the side of Brashear's head.

Brashear responds with two rights to the back of McCarthy's head, thrown in the same manner as McCarthy's rights. McCarthy then comes back with a right and both guys begin a toe to toe spell, throwing weak right handed noogies to the side of each other's heads. McCarthy threw twelve, landing with most of them and Brashear threw ten also landing with most of his punches.

Brashear continued to throw as he landed another three weak noogies on McCarthy. McCarthy hit back, but Brashear threw six more noogies to the back of McCarthy's head. McCarthy then threw four noogies at Brashear in response before switching to his left. McCarthy was able to land once with the left before Brashear grabbed McCarthy's left arm with his right.

Both guys then jockeyed for position, and McCarthy grabbed Brashear's head with his right arm and landed two lefts. Brashear hit back with two lefts of his own but McCarthy was able to land two body shots before both guys returned to the positions in which they started in. McCarthy landed one right and both guys wrestled momentarily. McCarthy then landed with another right.

McCarthy then landed three more rights as Brashear had stopped attempting to throw. McCarthy was then able to get some leverage with his right hand as Brashear seemed to have stopped fighting. McCarthy landed a flurry of unanswered rights that were landing solidly on Brashear. The officials then decided to come in and stop this one as Brashear was making no real effort to win this one.

McCarthy gets his second win of the night against Brashear. This was more or less the same as the first fight, but with more thrown and landed by both. The fight itself wasn't much better, still hugfest with nothing but noogies thrown until the end. McCarthy was always out landing Brashear but he was able to take over at the end and land the only good punches of the fight, so he takes a clear win from this one.

Clear win McCarthy.

Brashear and McCarthy drop the gloves at the start of the third period and tie up straight away. Both guys start throwing right hands to the side of each others head as they fight in close from the clinch. Both guys continue to grapple about while each land punches from the clinch and this goes on until McCarthy gets the right arm completely free and throws ten rights in a row at Brashear. The lino's see that Brashear is just holding on at this stage so they come in and end the fight.

Decent enough fight from the clinch and it was even enough until the end when McCarthy opened up on Brashear with right hands giving the Laval tough guy the clear win.

Clear win McCarthy.

At the faceoff, Brashear surprised McCarthy when he instigated the fight. They traded some rights behind their heads without success on both sides. At center ice, they spinned arround as they got some punches behind their head with McCarthy getting the heavier punches. McCarthy was switching to the lefts and rights and Brashear weren't able to to get used to McCarthy's fighting style. As Brashear was getting out of gas, McCarthy pounded his head with five power punches and the linesmen interfered.

Once again Brashear seems unwilling to open up and keeps the fight as in close as possible, both land some in tight blows through the first half but McCarthy lands the better of the two, in the 2nd half McCarthy takes over and really pounds away closing the fight very strong, clear win McCarthy.
