Bob Probert clear win Fun
5
Jeff Chychrun was a tough customer who took on top heavyweights. He went right after Probert and boldly threw the first punch. Probie's jersey came off and Chychrun connected with all jersey. Bob had the edge in mobility and started to throw rights. He landed a solid right cross, missed a punch, and landed a partial connect.

Probert landed a good right hand and Jeff sagged to his knees. Bob landed a final partial connect and Chychrun lunged forward and tackled Probie. There was no further action after the takedown.

This was a clear win for Probert. He landed a good blow that sent Chychrun to his knees. Jeff was unable to connect with any shots in the bout. He was disappointed with his performance, but he was determined to try again. He fought a rematch with Probie later in the game and performed very well.

Bob Probert clear win Fun
5
Premier heavyweight Bob Probert tangles with big Philadelphia rookie Jeff Chychrun. Chychrun misses with a right and Probert's jersey comes off immediately. Chychrun loses his grip on Probert who capitalizes by tagging him with a right. Probert misses with one but scores with a big punch that rocks Chychrun. Chychrun misses with a right and takes another shot from Probert. Probert hits Chychrun one more time before Chychrun tackles him to the ice.

Clear win for Probert as he landed all of the punches in this brief contest and was in clear control.

Bob Probert clear win Fun

Bob Probert and Jeff Chychrun shed the gloves and grapple. Chychrun pulls Probert's jersey off, taking his helmet off too while missing a right. Probert then throws three rights, landing two and Chychrun loses his hold while missing a right. Then Probert lands two rights as Chychrun goes down and wraps his arms around Probert. Chychrun wrestles Probert down and the officials separate them. Very short fight but fairly eventful. Win to Probert for connecting on the only punches and cutting Chychrun on the nose.

First bout of two in the game for these boys.
Probert hadn't been in a scrap for a while before this one,
but he isn't that bad though. His power-punches forces Jeff to the ice
even though no damage was done. Over in a few seconds.

Craig Berube clear win Fun
5
Kris King and Craig Berube have a rematch from their battle earlier in the season. The end result is the same as the first fight. Berube lands a punch to the back of the head and connects with another right. King misses with a punch and Berube tags him with two more rights. They grapple and Berube misses with a right. King misses again and loses his grip on Berube's jersey. Berube scores with another right and King goes down to the ice.

Berube landed most of the punches to defeat King for the second time in this season.

Craig Berube clear win Fun

Berube and King had a rematch of a prior encounter. Craig missed a couple of punches, landed a solid right, and landed a pretty good shot. King missed a couple of punches, landed a solid blow, and connected with an average punch. The Chief landed a solid shot, missed a punch, and landed an average connect. Kris lost his balance and went down. Berube missed a couple of punches.

I rate this as a clear win for Berube. He landed some above-average blows and one damaging blow with pretty good pop. King landed a couple of moderately effective punches, but Craig put some hurt on him in the encounter.

Craig Berube decisive win Fun
4
During a stoppage in play the officials are sorting out some penalties when Kris King and Craig Berube decide to drop the gloves. They square off and Kings grabs on first, missing a right as Berube grabs on afterwards and throws three rights, landing one. King misses a right and tries to lift the jersey over Berube's face but Berube throws a quick series of six rights, landing two as King gets turned around badly and falls to the ice, losing his grip of Berube in the process. The linesmen hurry in to break it up. Decisive win for Berube in a fast fight.

Berube's in control of this fight though he never really lands a damaging punch. He lands some grazing punches while King is in the position of fending off punches before losing his balance and falling to the ice.

Berube keeps King at range and is able to land a few rights to King's head. King tried to work his way to the inside but was no successful and lost his grip on Berube's jersey which allowed Berube to land a few solid rights before King slipped to the ice.

Round 2 for these two and again it was all Berube. He landed only punches, the last punch by the Chief landed but King was already falling down so no TKO. Nonetheless an easy win for the Chief.

Berube gets the better of it from start to finish landing several blows and finishing King off with a hard right that puts some hurt on him and basically ends the bout, clear one sided win for Berube.

Jeff Chychrun narrow win Fun
6
Jeff Chychrun was a brave soul who was not about to back down from anyone, including a dangerous Bob Probert in his prime. Probie got the best of him in their first bout of the evening. This was a fight-filled game between the Flyers and the Red Wings. Craig Berube fought Kris King as well with "The Chief" getting the nod.

Probie and Chychrun collided at the Red Wings blue line. Bob got his forearms up and shoved them into Jeff's face. Chychrun demonstrated that he had solid fighting fundamentals. He got a good grip on Probert's right arm. Bob was unable to get the arm loose for most of the fight.

Probert landed a partial connect. Chychrun had his arm free enough to land right hands with better pop. Bob did have a grip on his arm, but it was not strong enough to neutralize Jeff's attack. Chychrun landed a partial connect and a right hand with pretty good pop. Probie tried to counter with a right hand, but he could not muscle his way through Jeff's solid grip.

Chychrun missed a punch and landed a partial connect. Probert missed with another right hand. Jeff landed a solid right and a decent right. He had the lead in the bout and was in the driver's seat. He took off Bob's helmet. Jeff lost his balance and Probie got his left hand loose. Suddenly, Chychrun was in a vulnerable position.

Probie had a mini-rally at the end of the bout. He landed a decent blow and a solid blow. His left handed punches connected, but the refs were quick to step in to stop the bout. The move seemed to benefit Chychrun. Bob's rally fell short and he could not even the score in the bout.

Chychrun was the winner in the rematch. He landed the best punch of the fight with a pretty good right cross. He neutralized Probert's right hand for most of the bout, which was not an easy thing to do. Jeff landed a couple of other effective blows in the fight. He landed the better quality of blow and earned the win.

Chychrun was a good NHL fighter in his prime. He had a good season in 1988-89. He had some wins over quality opponents like Dean Ewen, Chris Nilan, Mick Vukota, and Gord Donnelly. He did not have a long shelf life as a fighter. He was a small heavyweight. Jeff was a tall and lanky guy barely over 200 pounds.

Chychrun was as tough as nails. He scored a surprising TKO win over Stu Grimson. He took the advice of the rock band Blue Oyster Cult. He didn't "fear the Reaper" and it paid off with the most impressive win of his career. Jeff wasn't an elite NHL heavyweight, but he beat some top opponents including a prime Bob Probert. He was a solid technical fighter, a pretty good puncher, and as gutsy as they come.

Well Probert comes looking for this fight and grabs on and lands a solid right. Chychrun comes back landing one or two short punches before even grabbing on. Once Chychrun grabs on he gets in a few rights getting Probert off balance. Probert though comes back with a left not looking to land it and Chychrun goes down to a knee where Probert gets in a uppercut as the linesmen jump in. Draw as both had their moments.

Jeff Chychrun narrow win Fun
5
Bob Probert and Jeff Chychrun collide at the Detroit blueline and that is all it takes for the two of them to throw the gloves off and engage in a rematch. Probert lands the first punch but Chychrun answers with a right of his own. He then tags Probert with a right straight to the nose. Chychrun presses his advantage, landing two more blows to the side of Probert's head. Chychrun continues to punch away, landing three more rights and he also removes Probert's helmet. Probert tries to rally and he connects with two lefts. Chychrun ends up losing his balance and he tumbles down, which brings the linesmen in and they cut Probert's rally short.

Chychrun did very well in the rematch. He wasn't afraid to trade them with Probert even after being beaten in their first fight. Additionally he came out swinging and took over the fight right from the onset. Although Probert tried to mount a comeback, it wasn't enough as Chychrun edged him in the punch count to secure the win in Round 2.

Jeff Chychrun narrow win Fun

Bob Probert checks Jeff Chychrun, Chychrun shoves Probert back, and they drop the mitts. Chychrun misses a right as Probert misses a right and grabs on. Probert misses a right and Chychrun then misses a right before grabbing on. Chychrun throws four rights, landing two as he loses his grip but gets it back fast. Probert misses a right, then Chychrun throws three rights, landing one as Probert switches hands and opens up. Chychrun removes Probert's helmet and goes off balance as Probert lands a left. Probert then lands a left as Chychrun lands on the ice and the officials get in to separate them. Not a bad fight with Chychrun connecting on more punches for the win despite having the cut from their prior fight reopened in this scrap.

More even in this one. Both throw some good shots, but neither is that effective, although Jeff gets one square on the nose. But Probert's tough.
Jeff loses his balance and Probert takes advantage and throws a couple more when
the linesmen jump in. Another short one.

Great punch by Chychrun. It landed flush and did and Chychrun might have landed a right before that huge punch aswell. Probert´s left when Chychrun lost his balance missed. No doubt that Chychrun won this fight

In the 3rd, with the Red Wings in a commanding lead, Probert bumps Berube in the corner. Brown is far away but skates all the way back and challenges Probert. They look ready to go but then Berube also comes in, accidentaly pushing Brown. Probert looks disorientated at this, not sure which of Brown or Berube he´s gonna go with. The refs are in between all of them now and unfortunately a heavyweight bout between Probert and Brown is prevented. Probert and Brown push each other after the linesmen are in between also, but they could not get anything going now. It´s a shame, it was mostly Craig Berube´s fault that this fight didn´t happen. Fun

It's a shame this fight never took place. Probert and Brown only fought twice. The first fight wasn't much while the rematch was during Probert's famous 1990-1991 season and he TKO'd Brown in that fight. Although this is pure speculation, I would argue Brown would have defeated Probert if they had fought here. Brown was easily the top fighter in the league (along with Joey Kocur) while Probert was having numerous personal problems at the time and he would soon be busted for drugs. Probert was still very, very tough but he wasn't quite the unstoppable force that he would become when him and Brown did have their anticipated rematch.
