Wayne Van Dorp bumps into Tony Twist during a stoppage in play and as they two jostle, a linesman hurries in between them to keep them apart. Van Dorp gets a gloved punch in on Twist though before the other linesman swoops in and pulls Van Dorp away. Twist adjusts his helmet and jaws with Van Dorp. Later in the box, it's Twist still jawing away but this time with Bob McGill, whose penalty halted play initially. Fun

Gordie Roberts and Trent Yawney bump at the end of a shift and a linesman hurries in between them to try and maintain the peace. Yawney throws a gloded left that lands to the helmet but Roberts counters with a big gloved right, mostly missing Yawney who is then grabbed from behind by Mike Lalor. The linesman tries to push Roberts back as he continues after Yawney, landing a gloved left as Yawney is pulled backward by Lalor. Doug Wilson comes in to grab Lalor while Roberts is pulled away by another linesman. Fun

Mike Lalor decisive win Fun
3
Mike Lalor knocks down Mike Eagles in a puck battle and when Eagles gets up, he gets the lumber right into Lalor so the two drop their gloves there. Lalor's faster than Eagles though and quickly wrestles him down along the boards. Lalor goes down on top of Eagles throwing four rights and landing two, one catching Eagles' face and forcing him to cover up and protect himself. Bad fight with the win to Lalor for landing the only punches and connecting with one pretty well to the face of Eagles.

Very quick scrap along the boards. Lalor takes Eagles down and lands a few rights before the linesmen jump in. Win Lalor.

Peter Zezel goes to the front of the net to set a screen on Jimmy Waite but Dave Manson is there and tries to clear the crease. Manson plants a crosscheck into Zezel's lower back, knocking him to the ice. Manson then deliberately falls on top of Zezel who just covers up there. Manson though, lands a good gloved left to the back of the head before getting off of Zezel and skating to the penalty box with a linesman rushing in. Pretty rough play from Manson on Zezel here. Fun

With only few minutes remaining the game, some tough guys come out for a shift and soon after puck drop, Wayne Van Dorp and Kelly Chase come together and drop the gloves. They grab on and Van Dorp misses two rights short as Chase leans away before getting in tight. They wrestle then, moving towards the boards by the penalty boxes. Van Dorp lands a right to the helmet and Chase misses a right wide. Van Dorp then misses a right and Chase lands a right to the side of the head. Van Dorp steps forward and gets his head down while missing a right. Chase misses a right, then Van Dorp raises his head and misses a right wide just when Chase throws two rights, landing another one to the side of the head. Van Dorp gets his head down again as Chase misses a follow up right short. Van Dorp throws two rights and lands one to the side of the head while Chase misses two rights and then leans away while Van Dorp misses a right and raises his head. Chase misses a right and then falls down while leaning away as Van Dorp misses a right short. A linesman grabs onto them both as Van Dorp goes down too. Not a good fight, most punches missed and it ended too soon. They each landed a few though. I call it a draw.

This was a little below average. Van Dorp landed an average blow and a decent connect. He missed a right hand. Chase missed a punch, landed an average blow, and missed a punch. He landed an average connect and a decent right. Wayne missed a couple of punches and landed two decent blows. Kelly missed a final punch and the men went down.

I rate this as a draw. Van Dorp may have landed one more punch. Chase may have landed with slightly better power. I think it evened out in the end.

Difficult to say if both guys had 2 facial-punches or 3 facial-punches apiece. In either case, this means it's a draw.

Dave Manson narrow win Fun
3
Two fights break out at the same time in this game between Norris Division rivals the Chicago Blackhawks and the St. Louis Blues. As Kelly Chase and Wayne Van Dorp near the end of their fight, Tony Twist and Dave Manson get into a scrap. Twist misses with a wild swing and the momentum causes him to get off balance. Manson lands a right and Twist falls to the ice. Manson hits Twist in the back of the head with two more rights, as Twist struggles to get back to his feet. Twist lands a right off the helmet, before Manson tried to pull the jersey up over Twist's face. Manson then wrestles Twist down to the ice. Since the linesmen are still preoccupied with separating the combatants from the earlier fight, referee Terry Gregson has to get between them.

The fight wasn't much due to Twist's balance issues but Manson does get the edge for landing more punches.

Dave Manson narrow win Fun

Just as the Blues' Kelly Chase and the Hawks' Wayne Van Dorp are nearing the end of their battle, their respective teammates Tony Twist and Dave Manson decide to go at it. Twist and Manson grab on with lefts and swing with the rights.

Twist doesn't get a good grip on Manson's sweater. He is trying to re-establish his grip and is hunched forward a little bit as they spin around. Manson throws a couple rights, one of them dinging off Twist's helmet. Twist stumbles to the ice for a moment, off-balance. Manson throws another punch, but it failed to land. Twist tries to throw another shot, but it wasn't much.

Twist and Manson wound up thoroughly wrapped up with each other and wrestled as they spun around. Manson tried to pull the sweater over Twist's face as he grappled the Blues rookie down to the ice, where it was then broken up by the referee, Terry Gregson (the linesmen were busy with Chase and Van Dorp).

It was an uneventful fight that could have been a beauty if Twist stayed on his pins. Manson gets the edge for landing more, but really, no harm was done.

After the fight was broken up, Twist proudly displays the worst haircut in professional hockey history: the spiked mullet.

This fight was no great shakes, broke out during the Van Dorp-Chase fight. Manson appeared to ding one off the side of Twist's helmet, around his temple, and Twist went down to a knee, probably a combination of the punch and momentum from the 2 men spinning. No other punches really connect though.

Its a clear win for Davey, either way you chalk it up. Manson lands a nice right hand on Twist, coupled with the off balance swing, sends Twist down for a second and allows Manson to land a few more to the back of the melon. Twist doesn't land a punch while Manson lands at least one and a few to the back of the melon.

Win for Dave Manson.

This was a very brief contest early in Twist's NHL career. He had a go with Manson. Tony missed badly with a right hand and lost his balance. Twist slipped to the ice. Dave landed a solid right and an average blow. He missed a punch. Tony got up, but he missed another right hand. Manson got him in a arm lock. He wrapped up Tony's right arm and wrestled him to the ice.

I rate this as a narrow win for Manson. He landed a couple of effective punches. He kept Twist from landing. He won the wrestling match and punches with just enough effectiveness to secure a win.

Manson clearly kept his distance from Twist and from the way he was swinging him around you can tell that Manson didn't want a long fight. Manson technically won but Twist certainly wasn't damaged by any of his punches.

Video of this fight begins while these two guys were already battling. Twist throws a very long-range swing that completely didn't land. Then Manson grapples in and cleverly gets the jersey over his head and somewhere in between this, he lands 1 facial/head punch. Twist gets the jersey unwrapped from his head but it's too late because Manson slams him down to the ice and that's how this fight ends with the refs then ending it. Narrow win for Manson.
