Clark missed part of the 1989-90 season with a partial tear of the MCL in his right knee, an injury suffered when he was checked in the knees by Viacheslav Fetisov during this game at New Jersey. He did not return to action until Toronto's March 31, 1990 regular-season finale vs. Chicago.Reply

The time on this fight is wrong, the fight didn't occur at the same time as the hit.Reply

10 for Wendel and hockey. One big right and down goes Fetisov. Great player, great fighter, great leader! One great hockey moment! Some might call it suckerpunch, but to me it was all true hockey. Slava should know better.

Fetisov moves in, intending to give Clark a check into the boards. But Clark gets his arms and stick up at his face and puts Fetisov down to the ice.
Fetisov gets up, aggravated, only to get decked once more by a great right from Clark. It could have been more to the center of Fetisov's face, but it did it's job anyway just the way it landed.

Wow! Clark highsticks Slava in the face, then creams him with one punch. From the looks of the replay, it seems that Fetisov tried to hip check him, and Clark didn't like that at all.

Fetisov attempted to clip Clark's knees earlier on and then tried to check Clark into the boards. Clark held his stick high and Fetisov fell down. As soon as he got up he was clocked by a nice right from Clark.

Omg this is a cheap shot. TKO win wtf? Fetisov gets hit in the face with the stick, tries to get up, and gets hit just as he is regaining his footing. He did not have much of a chance to do anything. Major cheapshot by Clark.Reply

Fetisov was getting up off the ice when he was attacked and still had his gloves on. This fight is obviously unfair. I'm not going to make the call since a bunch if people don't believe it to be unfair because if they did they would have marked it as such, but I would like a well reasoned explanation.Reply

Yes it was unfair. Fetisov didn't even have time to drop the gloves before he was already dropped. But he certainly deserved that punch.Reply

I don't know how you can say that Fetisov didn't intend to fight back cause I think he was ready for a fight as he went searching for Wendel 3 times in this sequence. First he sought out Wendel by diving at his knee. Then he came over to Clark after Clark delivered a hard hit to a devils player ( I think Sundstrom) any ways after Clark delivered the one punch Fetisov came back into the fray with his gloves off looking to get at Wendel again! So 3 times he came looking for it and he finally got it. This may be called unfair for another reason as I don't think that Fetisov really beleived that this would have been the outcome he intended, Clark was just quicker to get to work.Reply

Cheapshot by clark? That girl Fetisov tried to take out his knee so Clark went over and made him sit on his ass. I would do the same thing.Reply
