Mike Hartman clear win Fun
3
Hartman lands a right to start the fight. Smyth misses with a punch. Hartman then pulls Smyth's jersey over his head. The jersey is not tied down and comes right up over Smyth's head. Hartman quickly takes advantage of Smyth's blindness. Hartman lands a right that gets Smyth bent over. Hartman goes with the southpaw landing 2 lefts. Smyth rushes Hartman over to the boards where they fall to the ice.

Hartman landed all of the punches in the fight as the jersey trick easily gave him the advantage. Clear win Hartman.

Jeff Parker narrow win Fun
7
Kimble took a big run at Parker at center ice. Parker avoided it and knocked Kimble down. The 2 then meet up and they want to go and they do. Parker misses with a right early and Kimble lands a big shot. They then have a brief exchange of toe-to-toe punches. They get in close and Parker tries to get Kimble's helmet off and they wrestle to the ice.

When I first watched it I thought it was a draw because they were both throwing toe-to-toe, but I watched it again in slow-mo and Parker's punches landed better while several of Kimble just missed and or went of the helmet so I give the win to Parker.

This was a brief contest, but an exciting one. These guys were exchanging power shots and were not fooling around. Kimble landed a good right hand from the onset. Parker missed his first punch. Darin landed a decent follow up blow and missed a punch.

Parker got his right hand working. He missed a shot and landed a pretty good blow. He landed a solid punch, a good blow, and a pretty good shot. Kimble landed a solid connect, missed a punch, and landed an average connect. Jeff landed a partial connect and hauled Darin to the ice. The refs stopped the fight.

I rate this as a narrow win for Parker. Kimble landed a few effective shots, but I think Jeff landed with more authority. He may have landed an extra punch as well. I think Parker surprised Kimble and landed the better punches. I think the power advantage was enough to earn the win.

Real stormy event! Kimble got one in early and then it was all Parker. Very aggressive fight.

Wild punches thrown early, Parker misses and Kimble hits. Parker takes over hitting most of his while Kimble mostly misses. Slight adv. Parker.

The idiot Buffalo announcer makes it sound like a one sided fight but I always thought this was very even, Parker never knocked Kimble down like that clown says, he wrestles Kimble down in the end. I'm not sure but didn't Kimble break Parker's nose in this one? I thought i've read about it somewhere, I could be wrong though. Anyway it was a very good showing by a guy who didn't fight that much against a good fighter Kimble.

Gonna call this one a draw, but if I had to pick a winner it would be Kimble. Parker threw more, but it's hard to tell how well they landed. Kimble landed a bomb that almost decapitated Parker. Looked to me Parker just wrestled Kimble down in the end.

In open ice they drop the gloves. Kimble throws a couple of swings that seemed to marginally connect on the face of Parker although i'm not 100% sure about this. Parker only heaved Kimble down to the ice to end this match when the zebras immediately jump in. Call it a clouded draw.

Still laffing at the Sabres announcers.'Parker lands a big looping right that drops Kimble.Boy did he get him good'.

OO-KAY.

Except that Kimble stayed on his feet and traded punches for 5 seconds afterwards.

Petit went down right away, but I couldn't tell if it was from a punch of if it was a slip. There was no further action as the refs stepped in.Reply

Benoit Hogue narrow win Fun
3
Benoit Hogue and Claude Loiselle take the faceoff. The puck is dropped and they bump. Loiselle pushes Hogue in the back. Hogue doesn't like this and he goes back at Loiselle. The gloves come off.

Hogue lands a right to the back of Loiselle's head. He then lands 2 more rights to the side of Loiselle's head. Loiselle slips and falls to his knees. Seeing this the linesmen move in although Loiselle has gotten up. Hogue lands one more right as the officials get in.

Hogue landed the only punches to win the fight.

These two went at it after the faceoff. They got the lumber up and the fight was on. Loiselle missed a right. Hogue landed a solid punch, missed a blow, and landed a solid connect. He missed three punches and landed a solid connect. The refs stepped in and he landed one more solid connect.

I rate this as a clear win for Hogue. He landed with some authority and had an easy time in this fight.

Right after the puck drop Loiselle is giving it to Hogue pretty good, shoving and crosscheking him and they soon shed the mitts and go but for a brief instant with Hogue now giving it to Loiselle quite one-sidedly by way of about seven or eight rights to the back and the side of Loiselle's still helmeted head, hence a clear win here in a nice enough fight between two centermen.

Dean Kennedy narrow win Fun
3
Dean Kennedy and Ken McRae have a long yet dull battle. They get in tight and Kennedy misses with a right. McRae does likewise. Kennedy pulls off McRae's helmet and lands a short right. Kennedy misses with another punch and the two get even tighter. Kennedy manages to get a punch in to the back of the head. They both attempt a few more short punches before wrestling. The wrestling continues for the next 10 seconds. Kennedy and McRae both miss with a punch. Kennedy then straightens his helmet. McRae lands a short right. Kennedy connects with a hard right as the fight opens up. McRae misses with a left and Kennedy throws a body shot. The linesmen then decide to step in.

Not much landed as the majority of the fight was wrestling. However Kennedy did land more punches out of those that did connect, including one very hard punch so I will give him the narrow win.

Dean Kennedy narrow win Fun

This was a lengthy scrap and not a very good one. Both men had a strong grip on the other's right arm. As a result most of the punches came short of the target. Kennedy missed a few rights. McRae missed a few right hands of his own. Dean landed an average connect, missed a punch, and landed a partial connect.

Ken missed a number of right hands. Kennedy missed a punch and landed a decent blow. McRae landed a decent blow and missed a punch. He landed a decent shot, missed a punch, and landed a partial connect. It looked like it was going to wind up as a boring draw, but Dean uncorked a pretty good right that landed flush. He missed a couple of follow up blows and the refs stopped the contest.

I rate this as a narrow win for Kennedy. He landed one power shot at the end and it was effective enough to secure a win.

Just after the Hogue & Loiselle fight winds down, Kennedy & McRae are then seen tangling as the camera shifts to them. McRae was in defensive mode although his attempted swings were impeded by the strength of Kennedy who stifled him throughout the match. Even more importantly, is that Kennedy gets the lid off of McRae to land 1 headpunch followed by a marginal facialpunch. A bit later, Kennedy then landed 1 marginal headpunch. Then just before the match ends, Kennedy lands 1 good straight-in facialpunch. A second later is when the zebras get involved. Kennedy in a clear win.

EC, you have to be kidding with calling this fight a draw. McRae never landed while Kennedy totaled 2 marginal facialpunches plus 1 good facialpunch just before the fight ended. Kennedy also showed good upper body strength in stifling the swings of McRae. Kennedy wins this clearly.Reply

I changed my call. I could see a narrow win for Kennedy but not a clear win. Kennedy only landed three punches although one of them was a good shot. I think a clear win is a bit overboard as the majority of the fight was wrestling and grappling. Kennedy does get the win for landing more punches but it's not like he landed a lot or overwhelmed McRae. Neither man really controlled the fight, most of it was wrestling and fighting for position.

Seems like your idea of a narrow win vs. a clear win is different from mine. To me, a narrow win is when 1 guy gets in 1 full facial/head punch or 1 full facial/head punch + a marginal or grazing punch more than the other guy ... but this would only occur if the overall punch-count was low between both guys. If the fight had instead a high punch-count, than I would even call it a draw because of the respectability of many punches landed by both guys. However, in this fight between Kennedy & McRae, Kennedy landed, in total, 2 full punches + 2 marginal punches ... this is while Kennedy's upper body strength completely stifled McRae from not connecting with anything. Cumulatively, to me, this all means a clear win for Kennedy because McRae was a total zero in this fight.

You are right, our ideas of the difference between a narrow win and a clear win do differ. That being said, I think we can both agree that Kennedy won the fight. The only question of course is how large was the margin of victory. But we do agree that Kennedy was the victor.
