Not much of a fight as Vukota never got the gloves off, Manson tackles Vukota to the ice and throws one that misses, draw in a non fight.

I think this should be a refused to fight. Vukota runs over the Hawk goalie and Manson immediately drops the gloves and goes after Vukota who doesn't drop his gloves and goes into a semi-turtle position as the linesmen jump in to break it up.Reply

Is there any footage of this in the video posted here?

The clip on here is short but I have a longer clip on various tapes and Manson drops his gloves and immediately goes after Vukota after he hit Cloutier and Mick keeps his gloves on and goes into the turtle position. A clear "refused to fight" situation.Reply

Thanks for the info. Was the punch that can be seen in this video the only one Manson threw?Reply

Yeah, that's the only punch Manson threw. The clip here is short, but it shows almost everything that happened, save a few seconds leading up to it where Manson skates up to Vukota after the hit on Cloutier and starts a fight with an unwilling Vukota, who appeared to be trying to draw a penalty on the play. Vukota wasn't mugged as he saw Manson coming for him with the intention to fight him after the hit, and he had a chance to fight back, but instead, he chose to go into turtle mode.Reply

Thanks for the info. As long as there was a clear intent to fight and enough action, this has to count as a fight. The intent by Manson appears to be clear enough and the loser turtling in itself counts as enough action.

Upgraded to a fight.

Alan Kerr narrow win Fun
5
Kerr must have done something to piss off the Black Hawks. Three separate guys took shots at him at the start of the clip. McGill was the last to go after him. Alan got some lumber up in his face.

The men fought on the inside. Kerr missed a few punches and landed a decent left. Bob missed a couple of rights. Alan landed three average lefts. McGill landed three decent blows and an average shot. Kerr landed a decent connect and a couple of average blows to the head. Bob landed a couple of body blows. The men clinched and the clip ran out.

I rate this as a narrow win for Kerr. He landed with a little more authority to the head. His punches were of a more substantial nature and he landed a couple more upstairs in the contest.

Alan Kerr narrow win Fun
5
All of the Chicago Blackhawks want a piece of Alan Kerr for some reason. After two other Hawks tried to get at Kerr, he pairs off with Bob McGill and they drop the gloves. Kerr lands a short left and works a couple more blows in while McGill lands a short right. Kerr lands four quick lefts from in close and McGill answers with a right. McGill lands two more rights before having his helmet knocked off by Kerr. They each land a punch and then both men toss a few ineffective body shots. The two men start to wrestle. Meanwhile all of the other players pile up behind the net after Ken Baumgartner had Duane Sutter covering up in their brief altercation. With all three officials preoccupied with the skirmish, Kerr and McGill are free to continue their fight. However they have both tired out so they simply hang onto each other and don't attempt to throw any more punches.

Kerr connected with slightly more punches and landed better as well to pick up the narrow victory.

Ken Baumgartner decisive win Fun
3
While Bob McGill and Alan Kerr go at it, Duane Sutter and Ken Baumgartner also pair off and have a go despite a referee standing nearby. Sutter grabs at Baumgartner's helmet but Baumgartner connects on two long lefts. Sutter lowers his head and Baumgartner switches hands, missing a right as Sutter goes down. Sutter tries to get up but Baumgartner switches hands and lands a left, keeping Sutter down. Several of Sutter's teammates then jump in, along with the referees who quickly pull Baumgartner away from Sutter. Short scrap where Sutter threw no punches. Baumgartner got some in and got Sutter down, then a bunch of other players jumped in.

This was a gross mismatch. Sutter missed a punch and was in over his head against top heavyweight Baumgartner. Ken landed an average left and a solid shot. He missed with a right and Duane slipped to the ice. Sutter tried to cover up. Ken landed a final solid left hand.

I rate this as a decisive win for Baumgartner. Sutter didn't have a chance against him. He would have been in big trouble had the refs not bailed him out.

Draw Fun

This was a brief contest and well below-average. Creighton missed a few rights, landed an average shot, and missed a blow. Bergevin missed a couple of lefts and several rights. Adam held on a bit. Marc landed a partial connect and an average connect. He missed a punch. The men began to wrestle and the refs stopped the contest.

I rate this as a draw. Both men landed one average blow. Beyond that, there was little significant action.

Marc Bergevin gets the stick up on Adam Creighton running interference when Creighton is trying to forecheck. Creighton goes around the net and goes right back at Bergevin and that sets off a fight. Bergevin and Creighton both get their hold with the left and miss rights simultaneously. Creighton leans away while Bergevin selectively throws three more rights that all miss. Creighton lands a right off the helmet and then Bergevin ducks as they throw rights simultaneously again. Bergevin misses as Creighton lands, and then Bergevin gets in close as Creighton misses a follow up right. Bergevin raises his head as Creighton tries to stand back during a short pause. Bergevin then throws two rights, landing one that gets Creighton to move in close. Bergevin misses a right as they wrestle and then tries to get Creighton's helmet off after Creighton gets a hand into Bergevin's face. Creighton gets bent over and misses two rights under the linesmen when they come in to break it up. Not a bad fight here and I'll go with a draw.

Adam Creighton narrow win Fun

This was a decent fight and both threw a few rights. Creighton landed a couple during the first part of the fight and clearly benefitted from his reach advantage. Bergevin was game though andfirst throws a right uppercut that falls short and then throws and overhand right that seems to land on Creighton´s forehead or helmet. Still edge Creighton for the early going

It begins just after the whistle as Creighton harmlessly skates by Bergevin but Bergevin jumps on the opportunity to start a fight with him, so probably a grudge was held by Bergevin over something. They trade swings and Creighton seems to land 1 facialpunch while Bergevin later lands a marginal uppercut. A few swings also missed or hit the helmet which were negligible. More or less a draw. Camera was up close so that you could see the determination and hate in the eyes of these 2 infrequent fighters.
