Rychel and Tkachuk got into it in the corner. The fight was very brief. Warren landed an average right and a partial connect. Keith landed an average right and missed a punch. Rychel had his back up against the boards and lost his balance. He slipped to the ice.

I rate this as a draw. Both men landed one average shot. This was well below average of a fight.

They start shoving against the boards in the corner. Rychel lands a right to Tkachuk's temple off the start. He tries to throw a second shot, but Tkachuk shoves him backward and he tries to keep his balance. He falls backward, and Tkachuk drives him hard into the glass. Rychel falls on his ass as Tkachuk throws a right that misses and starts to wrestle with Rychel on the ice.

Not much connecting, both guys might have landed one or two early. Then it turns into more of a grappling match with Rychel trying to get free.

Late in the game the puck goes into the corner in the Winnipeg zone. Defenseman Marty McSorley goes after it. However before he can get the puck, Mike Eagles throws a hit at McSorley. Eagles knocks McSorley down and falls on top of him. Eagles doesn't get off of McSorley and play is whistled down. Eagles throws a punch to the body of McSorley. McSorley responds by ripping off Eagles' helmet. A linesman gets between them as they get to their feet. The other linesman comes in as the two players chat. Meanwhile Dean Kennedy tries to get at Warren Rychel but nothing further occurs, although Rychel would get into a fight 10 seconds later.

I highly doubt Eagles would have been taking shots at McSorley had both men been standing on their feet. Eagles took advantage of the fact that he was on top of McSorley and acted braver than he actually was.

Warren Rychel and Keith Tkachuk have a rematch here late in the game. The fight starts out with both men throwing rights. Both of them land two punches as they go up against the glass in front of the penalty boxes. The two grapple and both of them miss with a punch. Rychel tries to get his arm free but Tkachuk ties him up. Rychel tries to get Tkachuk's helmet off and ends up wrestling him to the ice. Rychel lands two noogies on Tkachuk who's helmet had come off before the officials get in.

Draw as the two men landed an even amount.

With ten seconds left in the game, this time they square off at centre ice and then skate over to the boards again before they finally grab each other. They both throw a few hard hard rights to the head. Then they start wrestling around, and waltze for a while, ending up back at centre ice. Finally, Rychel gets Tkachuk in a headlock and wrestles him to the ice.

More action than round 1, but nothing great either.

The beginning of the bout showed some promise. Tkachuk missed a punch and landed a couple of average blows. Rychel landed a couple of average connects and missed a couple of shots. Warren was able to tie up Keith's right arm. Tkachuk missed a punch. Rychel missed several punches and landed a decent blow while Keith was slipping to the ice. He landed a couple of light raps while the men were on the ice.

I rate this as a draw. It looked like Rychel landed a couple more punches, but none of the shots at the end seemed to land with much pop.

In tight wrestling match. Rychel landed a few more nuggies and ended up on top for a slight edge not a good fight though at all.

I don't know unfortunately. Toronto Star boxscores that I have only shows penalties in penalty summary as minors, majors, misconducts, etc., but doesn't show if the penalty was for fighting, charging or whatever.Reply

That's unfortunate. Based on that, this could have been a fighting situation where Marty was mugging an unwilling partner, or it could have been a cheap shot.Reply
