Brad May narrow win Fun
4
Brad May and Darren McCarty, two long time veteran tough guys, drop the gloves off a draw and square up. May shows right and McCarty shows left. May lands a right as they grab on, then there's a fast exchange of punches, May throwing four rights and landing one and McCarty throwing four lefts and landing one before falling down under May. A really quick fight but not lacking in action. Still it was below average. May landed slightly more and better and gets the nod from me.

This was a poor scrap. McCarty and May were a couple of experienced veteran fighters. The bout was a disappointment. Brad landed an average blow and missed four punches in succession. Darren missed two punches and landed a partial connect. The men fell and the refs stopped the fight.

I rate this as a draw. May landed one moderately effective blow early in the fight. The punch was better than the one McCarty landed, but the impact wasn't enough for me to award the win.

Brad May narrow win Fun
4
Two old veterans who have been in many fights over their respective careers get into a brief scuffle. Brad May and Darren McCarty both broke into the NHL in the early 1990's. Although they are both actually light-heavyweights, they have not been afraid to tangle with some tough customers throughout their respective careers. Neither man is a goon either, as they can both play the game and contribute on the score sheet (McCarty's career high of points was 49 while May's was 45).

The warriors drop them right at center ice and square off in what is center ring. This isn't the first time they have fought either. McCarty and May also tangled back in the 2000-2001 season in what was a wild swinging affair which is exactly what you would expect from these two. Unfortunately this fight wouldn't be as action packed. May pops McCarty right in the face as they come together. May lands a right, misses with a right, and gets two more blows in. McCarty goes with the left, connecting with two punches and missing a couple before being taken down by May.

Both men were throwing punches for the brief duration of the scrap. May landed slightly more as well as landing the best punch of the fight so he gets the decision.

Off the face off the two drop the gloves. May throws the first right that just misses. They both then grab on and start throwing punches. McCarty lands one left and May hits McCarty in his sides a few times and then they fall to the ice. Uneventful draw.

Very brief toe to toe exchange and McCarty loses balance and falls. May looked to land a couple while McCarty appeared to only land maybe one, kind of hard to tell.

McCarty and the Wings FINALLY register their first fighting major of the season. Uneventfull Draw. Not much to go on here. I would rather see a remtach of Parros-Downey, but the Wings have Downey buried in Grand Rapids right now.

They drop the gloves off the draw. McCarty and May both leading with their rights. As they grab on May throws a right that goes right beside McCartys face. After this McCarty grabs onto the back of May's sweater and he both tumble to the ice with May landing on top. Nothing really lands, therefore draw.

I earlier reviewed based on the Detroit feed, however the Anaheim feed is a much better veiw of the fight.

They drop there gloves off the faceoff and have a short square off before lunging in. May comes in with a huge right that just misses from knocking McCarty's head off. McCarty also misses a punch. McCarty gets in a awkward posistion and gives May a chance to land some but they all seem to come up short before they fall to the ice.

Slightest edge to May but more of a draw as nothing really landed in this short exchange.

Wingnut May did not land that punch. Even these homer ass Ducks announcer said he missed as they showed it in slow motion. McCarty landed the only punch in this draw. McCarty didn't really look bad just got out of position.Reply

anthony that is what happens when someone that knows nothing about hockey gets on these sites because you can tell how a guy lived in his past by the way he fights now. what a joke.Reply

I feel what you are saying. I actually think McCarty looks way better than he did in the playoffs last year. It looked like he had weights on his legs everytime he tried to skate up ice. Now he is a lot quicker on both ends of the ice. I think this is the best he has looked in years.Reply

There I pulled it, Anthony does that make you feel better. I was reviewing it off of seeing it once, I missed the replay.

McCarty is skating better tonight. I will reserve judgement on his fighting this year till I see a few more, as this ws a bad fight.

I know nothing about hockey and I'm a joke? I have played for about 15 years. You can not tell me that the drugs and alcohol problems in McCarty's past had no impact on how he plays nowadays. I am not saying he definatly did not improve from the very end of his Calgary days and even from the amount of time that he played last season. All I was saying was he is not the player that he once was.Reply

Don't forget that May has gone through some terrible injuries as well. The fact that he is still fighting despite his age and past injuries is remarkable.
