Mike Peluso narrow win Fun
6
This was a good bout while it lasted. Peluso launched a series of left hooks. He landed three solid shots to start the fight. Churla wanted to throw rights early, but adjusted and threw lefts. He landed three solid left hooks. Mike landed three solid lefts, missed a punch, and landed an average blow. He fell to the ice and the bout was over.

I rate this as a narrow win for Peluso. He landed three or four more punches than Churla. Shane landed three solid blows and kept the fight reasonably close before the abrupt ending.

Mike Peluso narrow win Fun
6
Following a faceoff a fight gets underway between Mike Peluso and Shane Churla. They come together with Churla grabbing on with the left and Peluso grabbing on with the right. Peluso lands a left while Churla misses a right, then Churla tries to get Peluso's helmet off. Peluso misses a left, incidentally blocked by Churla before Churla misses a right while Peluso misses a left. Churla misses a right and gets turned around while Peluso misses two lefts. Churla straightens himself though while Peluso lands two lefts, then after Churla lands a left, Peluso lands another left. Churla lands a left and then misses a left while Peluso misses a left. Peluso lands a left as Churla misses a left and then Peluso throws two lefts and lands one. Peluso then drags Churla to the ice, ending the fight. A short but fairly good fight between two heavyweights. Peluso landed better punches and gets the win.

Short fight. Both threw some haymakers, Peluso more active and landed a bit more, but in the end it looked like he went down on purpose and dragged Churla down with him.

Mike Peluso clear win Fun

Peluso landed the better shots, got a clear one right on Curla's eye. I was a freelance photographer at this game and was stationed at the end of the Stars bench. When the penalties ended I could hear Curla complaining to the trainer that there was water in his eye, and the trainer said "that not water that is blood." Later in the game both guys lined up at a face off right near us. Churla as saying "wanna go, wanna go, wanna go" and Peluso say "man sorry but I can't (due to the close game)". You could hear how bad Peluso felt in his tone, very apologetic as he wanted to give Curla another bout.

Shane Churla's last game as a Star IIRC. His 5 and game for slashing in the 2nd was the last straw for Ken Hitchcock, saying Churla took too many "reaction penalties" instead of "action penalties".Reply

Ken Hitchcock after the game:

"For 40 minutes, we played pretty good hockey, but then we took
a needless penalty," Hitchock said. "It cost us. This is a good
team. You can't take stupid penalties against good teams. He's
(Churla) got to figure it out. You can't get unnerved by what's
going on out there."

Bill Huard narrow win Fun

This was a below average fight. Huard landed a partial connect and a decent blow. He landed a partial connect and a decent shot. He landed a partial connect and missed a blow. He landed a partial connect. Smith missed a blow and the men wrestled to the ice.

I rate this as a narrow win for Huard. Smith had him tied up some at close range. Most of Huard's punches were decent blows or grazing partial connects. Thus, I think it was a narrow win. Bill didn't land with his usual powerful impact.

Doug Zmolek narrow win Fun
4
With less than a minute to go in this blowout game with the score well in New Jersey's favor, Dallas' defenseman Doug Zmolek decides to get into a fight. He takes on Randy McKay of New Jersey. They grapple at the blueline and Zmolek misses with a right. McKay attempts two rights but they fail to connect as Zmolek has him tied up. Zmolek shakes his right arm out of his jersey sleeve and loses his elbow pad. Zmolek connects with two uppercuts and follows that up with a right that connects as McKay stumbles. Zmolek lands a right from in close while McKay also lands a short right. Zmolek lands a right as does McKay and then McKay wrestles Zmolek to the ice.

A bit of an upset here as McKay was the favorite going into the fight. Zmolek out landed the Devils' tough guy to pick up the narrow win. Zmolek wasn't a great fighter but he could occasionally pull off upsets. In addition to McKay, he also beat guys like Marty McSorley, Kris King, Kelly Chase, and he even TKO'd Mark Janssens.

Not a good fight. They grappled, Zmolek was able to get his right hand out of the jersey, he landed one or two and then they wrestled to the ice.
