Dane Jackson and Troy Mallette bump at the Sabres blueline and decide to fight. Mallette quickly lands 2 short rights. They start to grapple and Jackson answers back with 2 lefts. He lands the first one but Mallette ducks and avoids the second punch. Mallette buries his head in Jackson's chest. They lose their balance and fall backwards down to the ice.

The fight was over before either player could take control. Neither player did enough for a win here so I call it a draw.

Troy Mallette and Dane Jackson bump into each other during the course of a shift but they don't like it and agree to a scrap. They shed the mitts and get a hold on the other's sweater. Mallette throws four weak rights that all miss the mark as Jackson waits. Jackson then throws two lefts with one landing to the face of Mallette who puts his head down and grabs Jackson's leg. They both go down to the ice and Mallette lands a right to the face while on his way down. The officials then break them apart. No winner in this short tilt.

Bonk carries the puck out and into the Buffalo zone. He turns around trying to avoid one of the Sabres defencemen when Ray comes in and delivers and elbow that sends Bonk to the ice. Bonk stays down on the ice and Cunneyworth and Pitlick come over near Ray and May starts shoving Cunneyworth. Ray is trying to get at Pitlick but the linesmen keep them apart and things settle down. Emotion

In My opinion this was awesome. Douchebag Bonk had his head at his ankles and curled back by the Sabres bench when Ray puts his elbow under Bonk's chin and drops him. I don't know how a major was not called. I always hated Bonk. Great shot Emotion

Rob Ray win by TKO Fun
10
These 2 have had many great battles in the past as they both went at it toe-to-toe with no defence and that is why the rivalry was so fun to watch. This fight was probably the 2nd best between them because it is only surpassed by their marathon fight back in November of that season. It was also Ray's last fight in the Aud and he would make it a memorable one!

Ray and Vial were having a chat after a whistle and as soon as the puck is dropped they drop em and square off.

They both start firing rapid rights with piston like fastness. Ray is landing slightly better as some of Vial's are going off Ray's helmet. Suddenly BOOM! Ray lands a huge right to Vial's nose and Vial drops like a ton of bricks.

When it's broken up Vial is bleeding pretty bad from the nose. As Ray skates to the dressing room he high fives his teammates and has a huge grin on his face.

TKO as Vial went down quickly after taking that last punch from Ray.

Rob Ray win by TKO Fun

It is near the end of the game and the Sabres and Senators are itching to scrap. Each team has more than one tough guy on the ice as a faceoff is being set up. Dennis Vial and Troy Mallette are out there for the Senators, while Rob Ray, Brad May, and Bob Boughner grace the ice for Buffalo. The tough guys on the ice are glaring at each other. The crowd is buzzing and the players on the benches are on their feet, knowing that the powderkeg was about to explode. They would not be disappointed.

As the puck is about to be dropped, Rob Ray and Dennis Vial have their eyes locked on each other. The puck hits the ice and their gloves hit the ice a second later. They shadowbox, and Ray rips off and throws aside his elbow pad. Vial, for some reason, finds this objectionable and vehemently protests to the referee. Vial's protest is cut short as Ray moves in and the two heavyweights start to go at it.

Ray and Vial join in battle, exchanging machine-gun punches with their right hands. Vial is a little short of the mark with his punches, landing either helmet shots, glancing blows, or missing entirely. Ray has his helmet over his eyes and his chin tucked in, so Dennis has a tough time landing any quality blows.

Ray, however, has the range. He lands several good punches. Three of these punches are bombs that land directly in the face of Vial. One of the right hands opened a huge cut near Vial's nose and mouth. On the Ottawa feed's replay, you can see the punch that caused the wound.

After getting cut open, Vial took another three punches, the last of which connected flush in the mouth and dropped him down hard. The linesmen quickly got in there when Vial went down. Vial picks himself up off the ice as Ray triumphantly skates off the ice to the dressing room. Ray high-fives his teammates as the Aud crowd went nuts, roaring loudly.

This fight was pure toe-2-toe mayhem and a devastating TKO victory over a heated rival for Ray. This was also Rob Ray's last real fight in the old Memorial Auditorium. What a way to go!

Awesome buildup to this, as everyone in the building could see it coming. And they go right off the faceoff, and it's mayhem. Brutal right hands thrown by both, with Ray busting Vial wide open as they hit the boards, and Ray finishes him with a great right hand. Great stuff!

Wild toe-to-toe action as both guys traded right hand bombs with each other. Vial did very well against his old nemesis although most of his punches hit Ray on the helmet. He did well until Ray dropped him with a beautiful right, flush in the face. Down went Vial, bleeding quite a bit from a cut under his left eye.

Awesome build up to the fight as May, Ray and Bougnher are all on the ice and the crowd knows what's going to happen. Ray and Vial line up next to each other and drop'em off the face-off. Great toe to toe action as Ray gets 3 solid rights in on Vial with the last one dropping him against the boards and leaving him bloody. Win RAY!

Amazing fight here between Rob Ray and Dennis Vial. Ray and Vial match up on a faceoff. They grab on and start slugging out punches toe-to-toe. They're matching each other fairly close, both guys throwing a ton of rights and connecting with the majority of them. That is until Ray comes across and puts Vial on the ice, ending the fight. Big TKO victory for Ray, great toe-to-toe scrap.

Everyone knew that when the puck drops, these two would drop the gloves. And they did. Great toe to toe slugfest, both fired bombs and finally Ray floored Vial with a hard right and bloodied him.

One of the few short fights that I will likely give a 10 here. There is less than a minute left, the goons are out, and the crowd is itching for a fight. Ray and Vial oblige and trade fast rights. One of Ray's rights administer the knockdown blow, and Vial is cut pretty bad.

Toe-to-toe slugfest. Ray catches Vial with a right hand hammer that sends him to the ice. Vial's pouring blood when he rises to his feet.

Great fight Vial looked strong in the beginning but Ray started pushing him back towards the boards and then landed a BOMB that sliced Vial's face and dropped him. Kind of felt bad for Vial at the end, I don't know why, just did.

Doesn't get better then that. The ultimate toe to toe scrap ended with a huge shot that splits Vials face open. Props to both players for the fight of the year.

Actually, Vial's nose was not broken in this fight. He did suffer a laceration near his nose and upper lip, though.Reply
