Cam Russell clear win Fun
7
Despite being elbowed in the face earlier by Cummins, Kypreos has no problem fighting Cam Russell here. Although that shows he is tough it was probably not a wise move because after the fight Kypreos was bleeding pretty good.

The fight starts out as a wrestling match. Russell tries to get his left free and throws a few ineffective rights to the back of Kypreos' helmet. After about 10 seconds of wrestling the 2 open up and start throwing them. They both throw with the lefts. Kypreos managed to land a few early on but most of his punches came up short. Russell however landed several solid lefts that caught Kypreos flush on the face. Finally the 2 stopped throwing and when Russell ducked a left by Kypreos and went to his knees the linesmen decided to come in.

Russell's size was the factor in this fight as he was several inches taller then Kypreos. Because of that Kypreos' punches came up short and Russell was able to outland him by a wide amount giving him the clear win.

Kypreos was coming off taking an elbow to the face by Jim Cummins. He was already busted up before throwing down with Russell. Cam made the damage worse in the resultant fight. Russell landed two light lefts, missed a punch, and landed a light blow. Nick landed a decent shot and an average blow.

Kypreos landed a solid blow and an average shot. He missed two lefts. Cam landed two solid blows and missed a punch. He landed a solid shot and missed a blow. He landed a solid connect and a pretty good blow. He landed a good shot and a pretty good punch. Nick missed a punch. The refs stepped in. Kypreos continued punching. He missed a blow, landed a solid shot, and missed a punch after the official interference.

I rate this as a clear win for Russell. Cam landed the better power shots. He left Kypreos a bloody mess at the end of this one.

as mentioned in the Cheap shot above, Kypreos had been elbowed in the nose by Cummins less than 7 minutes earlier (Cummins got 2 for roughing and 5 for elbowing, and was still in the box when Russell came into the box), and Kypreos had bled ALOT from the elbow...didn't see what started this fight, but Kypreos took quite a few on the nose, and was bleeding more...Kypreos through a few, but not many

I don't know why Kypreos want to fight a few minutes after the the elbow that he took. Russell land a couple of punches and Kypreos start to bloody really bad and you can see how Russell try to stop the fight and Kypreos want to continue. When the linesmans saw that Russell wants to stop they come to separate and later clean the ice.

Video begins with these two already grappling. They then swing away but Russell is more on target than Kypreos is, thus he got the better punches in. Kypreos may have landed the same amount of facial-punches also than Russell. Total facial-punches: Russell had 5 and Kypreos had 5 ... Kypreos' last swing may been a a connected facial-punch because the video ends just when the punch is landing, so if we count this punch, then Kypreos totals up 5 facial-punches which is the same amount as Russell. I would call this a narrow win only for Russell but Kypreos is also seen with a bloody face which magnifies this event as if he received a beating, but in reality, it's a narrow win just for Russell only because his punches were of better quality.

Good fight, after a slow start as the two worked to get hand position they trade lefts toe to toe with each landing several blows, both landed a lot but Russell landed a bit more and landed the best shots including a hard shot late that looked to hurt Kypreos a bit, clear win Russell.

Tie Domi and Bob Probert get together during a stoppage in play after having a fairly good tilt eight days earlier where Probert got the win. As they get their holds of each other's sweater, Domi throws three lefts and lands two, including one that knocks off Probert's helmet although Domi's helmet ends up off in the subsequent wrestling. Probert misses a left while locked out by Domi who then misses a left. They keep wrestling and Domi switches to the right. Domi misses two rights as Probert switches to the right too. Then Probert throws seven rights, landing three while Domi just wrestles. Domi then barely lands right and that causes them to break apart from each other with Probert missing a right as Domi steps back. They square off but the referees get in and they keep the two separated. Below average fight as there wasn't much thrown and nothing landed too well here.

Tie Domi of the Maple Leafs and Bob Probert of the Blackhawks meet up along the boards. They drop the mitts, square off for a moment, then get it going.

Domi lands a couple shots early, then they both clamp on and wrestle. After about twenty seconds of waltzing around, Probert throws some rights, connecting a couple decent punches to the side of the head. They grapple some more, then Domi catches Probert with a good right uppercut that straightens Probert out and makes them both lose their grip.

Probert tries to answer with a straight right, but he missed with it. They square off a second time, with Probert looking like he badly wanted to keep going, but the linesmen stop them before they go again. The two heavyweights get sent to the sin bins.

A pretty equal number of punches landed in an average fight, so call it a draw.

Domi throws three lefts at the start, landing one. Then they grapple and Probert lands a few on Domi. At the end Domi throws an uppercut that grazes Probert, who then throws a right that misses and they separate. Probert wants to go some more, but Domi backs off and allows the refs to get in.

This was not a great scrap. These guys had a world of respect for each other and took the cautious route. Domi missed a punch, landed a solid blow, and missed a left hand. Probert missed a blow and landed a couple of average shots. Bob missed a left. Tie landed a partial connect. Bob missed a couple of punches, landed a decent connect, and missed a couple more attempts. Domi missed a right hand and landed a partial connect.

I rate this as a draw. The men landed equally in terms of punching power. Domi may have landed one more blow, but I don't think it was enough to earn a win. There was very little to separate the combatants in this bout.

another pretty good fight between these 2 old friends...i forget what started it, but there were good punches thrown both ways...near the end, Domi caught Probie with an uppercut, and lost his grip on Probie's jersey...they got separated, linesmen jumped in, and you can see Probie say "fuck" when he realized he lost a change to get Domi again...Probie was also looking at his right hand as if he hurt it on Domi's helmet...

Not a great fight. Probert gets a pretty good right hook over Domi's grip at one point, but other than that, it was a long but fairly uneventful fight. Domi got a couple in, as did Probert. No one with the upper hand to a degree to warrant anything but a draw.

Domi landed a couple early blows and was able to hold Probert off for awhile but Probert freed himself up enough to land 2-3 blows of his own by fights end, nobody landed anything big, no damage was done and there wasn't a discernable edge in punches landed in my opinion, draw.

Jim Cummins decisive win Fun
7
This was a rough game for Kypreos. Cummins busted his nose early in the game with an elbow. Nick was upset with the blow and lost a lot of blood. He showed a good amount of courage by fighting Cam Russell later in the game. Russell worked him over and Kypreos bled some more.

Nick wanted a chance at payback against Cummins. He didn't want to cut his losses and come back to fight another day. He wanted to prove that he wasn't going to back down from anyone. Kypreos threw down the gauntlet by elbowing Jim to start the trouble. Cummins didn't need much provocation to throw down.

Jim landed a body blow, missed a punch, and landed a solid right. Nick missed a blow and landed an average punch. He missed a punch and landed a solid blow. Cummins briefly twisted away. Kypreos missed a punch. Jim landed a solid blow and missed a shot.

Cummins took over down the stretch. He landed a solid blow and missed a shot. Kypreos lost his balance and tumbled to the ice. Jim cranked him with two good shots. The refs stopped the fight. Kypreos bled some more and Jim taunted him in the penalty box.

I rate this as a decisive win for Cummins. Jim had Nick in trouble at the end. He was landing heavy shots and the refs had to rescue Kypreos. Cummins did some damage and Nick was a bloody mess after the initial elbow and getting the worst of two fights.

Kypreos was an aggressive player, but not one of the better fighters in the league. He was fearless, but he usually took a lot of punishment from heavyweights and the big punchers in professional hockey. Nick did have some pop in his punches, but he had glaring defensive deficiencies.

Kypreos wasn't a good tactical fighter. I saw his fight with Kelly Chase. Chase completely schooled Nick and wrapped up his arms. He pounded Kypreos and demonstrated that Nick wasn't a top fighter in the light heavyweight class. Kypreos was certainly no heavyweight, but he wasn't dominant against lighter fighters either. Nick wasn't a patsy and had some impressive wins over the likes of Ronnie Stern, Marc Potvin, and Warren Rychel.

Kypreos had a lot of guts and deserves credit for standing up to Cummins and Russell in this game. Nick paid a heavy price, but proved the point that he was a warrior. Kypreos proved to be too brave for his own good. He got destroyed by Ryan VandenBussche in one of the most brutal KO's in NHL history. Nick went out on his shield and it was unforgettable to see him unconscious in a pool of his own blood. This was a sad way for a player to exit the league. Kypreos wasn't a good fighter, but he should be remembered for having a lot of courage. He was willing to pay the price to be a physical presence on the ice.

Earlier in the game Jim Cummins threw a big elbow on Nick Kypreos, bloodying him badly. Later on Kypreos and Cummins dropped the gloves and squared off but the linesmen kept them from going. Then in a shift later in the game, Kypreos takes a big run at Cummins. Cummins turns and drops his gloves as Kypreos too drops the gloves and they grab hold of each other's jerseys. Cummins throws five rights and lands three, taking Kypreos' helmet off. Kypreos gets in tight and pins Cummins to the boards and they wrestle with Cummins missing a right. Kypreos takes off Cummins' helmet and then pushes his head down. Kypreos throws four rights and lands three as Cummins is turned around but Cummins manages to straighten himself. Cummins throws five rights and lands three as Kypreos turns away and loses his hold of Cummins' jersey. Kypreos attempts to grab back on but ends up falling down which brings the linesmen in. A short but spirited scrap. Kypreos leaves the ice badly bloodied, his nose bleeding again and with a gash under his right eye. Definite win Cummins.

Cummins, as mentioned in the cheap shot above, had elbowed Kypreos in the nose, causing Kypreos to bleed quite a bit...

Just over 2 minutes before this fight happened, there had been a goal, and on the ensuing face off, Kypreos and Cummins dropped the gloves as the puck dropped. The linesmen jumped in too soon, and they each got 2 for unsportsmanlike and the teams played 4 on 4.

As their penalties expired, they got out of the box... from the TV perspective, Kyp's box is on the left, Cummins is on the right. The puck goes into whatever zone it was to the right, into the corner, Cummins chases it down, shoots it out (must've been Chicago's zone). Kyp chases him, hits him with a flying elbow, Cummins drops the gloves first and grabs Kyp who has also dropped his gloves. Kyp throws a few punches, but once Cummins retaliates, Kyp starts grabbing Cummins's hair, after which Cummins just annihiliates Kypreos, bloodying him YET AGAIN... as the announcer from TSN said "Kypreos has major motivation, but no chance". Granted if I was Kypreos, I'd be going after Cummins too for that elbow.. .but don't be pulling hair.

I tend to think that the elbow, and the 2 fights, were a major factor in the fact that Kyp had to retire after the uppercut from VandenBussche... If he hadn't been elbowed so hard, or if he had not fought after being hit so hard, he MIGHT have been able to withstand that uppercut from Vandy... what I'm saying is it might not have knocked him out.

Starts when Kypreos leaves his feet to throw a high check. Cummins reacts quickly by grappling with Kypreos. Kypreos seemed to connect on 3 head-punches to begin the swinging contest but Cummins bangs away with 5 high-impact facial-punches but also re-opens a cut while somebody at this website said that Kypreos originally recieved this cut from an elbow by Cummins ealier in the game. Last but not least, a Cummins' facial/head punch also knocked Kypreos off his feet and down to the ice, hence, tko.

Say what you will about Kypreos here, but going after a heavy like Cummins for yourself with a broken nose after having it smashed smashed by a cheap elbow early from Cummins is very gutsy. Sure he definitely doesn't win and he took a beating with Cummins clocking him with a couple of rights, the last for the TKO, but you can't question his courage or honour after this game.

Tie Domi and Enrico Ciccone shed the gloves and go. Ciccone gets entangled in his own jersey right away. Domi tosses in a left uppercut and two quick rights as the big Blackhawk falls down.

Keith Carney skates by and nearly jumps in to help Ciccone. Enrico's jersey comes off completely and Domi falls over backwards, then the linesmen stop it.

Not a very action-packed scrap, but Domi gets the edge for landing the only punches.
