Cochrane and Delorme were old rivals. They had faced each other before and had a terrific action fight. The men threw probing jabs in the beginning of the fight. Delorme landed a solid left hook and a decent right hand. Cochrane missed a right and landed a partial connect.
Delorme landed a decent right and two solid blows. He was really taking it to Glen and landing some very effective punches. Cochrane missed a few right hands. His accuracy was off and he had trouble finding the target with regularity. Delorme landed a couple of decent rights and missed.
Ron did not ease up for a second, even after he built up a big lead. He appeared to be trying to put major hurt on Cochrane. He did not show good judgment in recognizing he was on the verge of the best and most impressive win of his career. Glen uncorked a good right hand and dumped Delorme to the ice. Ron was hurt and this was a big shot that shook him up.
This was a TKO win for Cochrane. Delorme was very impressive in his offensive output. He showed a lack of fighting acumen by continuing to slug it out for so long. This reminds me of when a quarterback is flushed from the pocket and gains a lot of yards. He should ease up at some point and slide. Instead, Ron was like a guy who wanted to run over a linebacker. The longer he traded with Cochrane, the greater the odds that Glen would land a big shot. The strategy backfired for Ron. If he was a little more cautious, he could have won in most impressive fashion. |

| The benches clear and everybody just mills around until Delorme and Cochrane square off. Delorme lands several punches while Cochrane just flails away missing with nearly every punch. Delorme can't put him away and Cochrane withstands at least 3 very solid punches. Delorme lets Cochrane back into it and starts backing up as he throws. Cochrane catches him with a big right that puts him on his seat. |

| Delorme and Cochrane squared off after both benches had cleared. Both guys were known to fight wide open. Delorme was always all offense and Cochrane had his wild and open style. Both men exchanged some powerful rights with each other. It was quite even until Cochrane caught Delorme with a huge right, sending the Chief to the ice. It was bound to happen that someone would get knocked out. Good and entertaining scrap. |

| Awesome fight, there was no hugging or jersey jabs in this one, they just went toe to toe trading bombs. In the end Cochrane landed one that took Delorme's helmet off and knocked him on his back. Cochrane threw a few more for good measure when Delorme was down. |

| Everybody is out on the ice at the end of the second period. Glen Cochrane and Ron Delorme decide to go and they squareoff while a lot of other players watch. They go to get a grip of each other but neither one actually grabs on and Cochrane misses a left. Then Delorme fails to get a hold of Cochrane and misses a right. Then Delorme lands a left as Cochrane connects with a right and they grab onto one another. Cochrane then misses a right while Delorme lands a right. Delorme throws three other rights and connects on two. Cochrane comes back with two rights and lands one. Then they start trading rights wildly and Cochrane gets his right out of his jersey. Cochrane throws ten and conncets on four while Delmore throws eight and connects with three. One of Cochrane's rights floors Delorme and Cochrane lands another one of his as Delorme goes to the ice. The linesmen come in and Cochrane throws four rights and lands two before the linesmen get Cochrane off of Delorme. The other players all gather around the two fighters and they are split up and both guys skate off with a linesman guarding them. Energetic and entertaining scrap. TKO Cochrane. |

JruGordon Feb 25, 2007 16:42 ET | if you watch the Delorme/Cochrane fight, you'll see the benches have cleared...did they clear again at the end of the game, or is one of the times wrong? | Reply |
Durbano Dec 18, 2007 00:37 ET | I think one of the times in wrong. The box score indicates nothing at the end of the game occurred. No penalties called. That said, it wasn't too uncommon for the refs to NOT call any penalties if it was just a mild scrum. I recall a Quebec-Los Angeles game during the 1983-84 season (same year) that had a big scrum at the end of the game, several players dropping their mitts ready to fight & the entire ice was littered with sticks & gloves. No one threw and after a lot of talking, no penalties were handed out. Bottom line though is unless the box score is incorrect, the only "bench-clearing brawl" occurred at the end of the 2nd period when Cochrane & Delorme squared off. Ironically, this game happened on the same night as THREE other games that had bench-clearing brawls -- NYRangers @ Hartford (True bench-clearer) Detroit @ Pittsburg (True bench-clearer), Minnesota-Toronto (end of 2nd period I believe) & Philly-Vanc (end of 2nd period). Bet you won't see four bench-clearances in one night again. Thanks Gary Bettman. | Reply |
