| Right off a draw in the first period, Steve McLaren and Jody Shelley drop the gloves. Shelley lands a right as they get a grip of each other's jerseys with the left and McLaren misses a right afterwards. Shelley misses a right and then after McLaren misses another right, he struggles slightly with his balance while Shelley throws two rights and lands one. McLaren gets in closer on Shelley and switches hands as they wrestle. Shelley misses a right and then misses a right while McLaren misses a left. McLaren lands a left before Shelley misses a right and then McLaren switches hands. McLaren lands a right as Shelley lands a right, then Shelley lands a right as McLaren misses a right. McLaren switches hands, then goes toe-to-toe with Shelley, throwing four lefts and landing three and Shelley throwing four rights and landing two. Then McLaren switches hands and lands a right but switches hands after and then lands a left. They wrestle and then the linesmen step in and break it up. Above average scrap from these two tough guys. Edge to Shelley for landing better punches. |

Shelley opens with a big right to the side of the head. This is the best punch of the fight and it wins Shelley the fight.
The rest of the fight is pretty entertaining and about even. Both get a good series of punches in, landing big at least once each. McLaren appears to be extremely good at taking a punch. Apart from the very first punch by Shelley, everything seems to bounce off him pretty much like off wood.
Overall, a very good effort by both guys. |

| David Ling grabs Dallas Drake as he's paired off with Darryl Sydor during a scrum. Sydor lets go, allowing Drake and Ling to drop the gloves and go. Drake gets the jump on Ling, just missing a right as Ling gets his hands up and blocks it. Ling and Drake throw simultaneously, Ling missing a left short and Drake missing a right wide. Ling throws four lefts after, landing just one as Drake just clings on. Ling gets his right elbow pad off but then Drake throws four lefts, landing three before Ling attempts to counter. Ling throws only two lefts, landing one as Drake throws three lefts, landing two more. Ling switches hands and misses a right as Drake lands a left and grabs onto Ling's helmet. Drake attempts to pull the helmet off but it stays on and then Drake's right arm starts to come out of his jersey. Drake switches hands and lands a right, then his arm comes fully out of his jersey. Drake misses a right as Ling goes down and then Drake lands on top with his helmet falling off. The referees come in and they break them apart there. A spirited scrap and a clear win for Drake. |

They get tied up in a scrum in front of the goal. Drake throws one right with glove on, then Ling drops he's left glove and throws a punch at Drake, Drake immediately answers by dropping the gloves and throwing a right which doesn't land. Ling throws three hard lefts and two of them land on the side of Drake's head, and the last one to the back of Drake's helmet.
Then Drake goes nuts. He starts to throw wild lefts, maybe ten of them, a few uppercuts that land beautifully and a few land to the back of Ling's helmet, but most of them misses the target. Then they wrestle a bit, and Drake changes to right hand, he gives a right that hits Ling to the shoulder and Ling drops to he's knees, then Drake gives another right and it lands on Ling's shoulder too. At this point the referees jump in and stop the fight.
It's a clear win for Drake. |

| Drake does a good job of switching hands landing good punches. Ling throws lots back but doesn't land any. |

| Ding ding for little Ling. Ling starts off well by connecting on a facial punch but then Drake gathers momentum and fires off 3 haymakers, then there's a pause, then 1 more solid facial punch puts Ling down to the ice. |
