Dave Brown narrow win Fun
3
Mike Eagles takes a run at Dave Brown along the boards and both men go down. Brown pushes at Eagles which draws Mike Hartman in. Hartman and Brown get nose to nose and they drop the gloves. Brown is way out of Hartman's league so Hartman just tries to hang on and stay in close. Brown gets his left free and connects with two punches and Hartman goes to the ice. The linesmen are in there quickly.

Brown landed the only punches so he gets the decision. Hartman is lucky the fight didn't last long because he was in over his head here.

Shawn Cronin clear win Fun
7
Cronin and Brown were old foes. They had several bouts in their rivalry. Dave won the first few fights, but Shawn had an impressive recent TKO win over Brown. Shawn landed a good left hook at the start of the clip. Dave went down. It appeared that he was already losing his balance before the shot landed.

Brown resumed fighting quickly. The refs stepped in with the intent of stopping the bout. Both men continued to throw left hands. Dave missed a punch, landed a solid connect, and missed another punch. Shawn missed a blow and landed a couple of partial connects. The official who wrapped him up grabbed his left hand and this caused Cronin's next couple of blows to miss.

The zebra who tried to tie up Brown was less successful. He tied up Dave's right arm, but Brown had his powerful left arm free to throw punches. Cronin was helpless to defend himself and Dave took full advantage. Brown missed a few punches and Shawn tried in vain to get his hand free. His left hand was under the armpit of the official who was trying to wrap up Brown.

Dave threw a series of uppercuts. He landed a solid blow, missed a punch, and landed another solid connect. He missed a couple of attempts. He landed a solid shot and a good left uppercut that landed flush. Finally, Brown was subdued. The damage was done and Shawn had some blood on his face that he was wiping away in the penalty box.

This was a controversial fight. Cronin appeared to land a good shot that was partially responsible for Brown going down. Dave was already losing his balance, but he was tagged with a very effective left hook. I wouldn't say this was a TKO because Dave still had plenty of fight left in him. There was plenty of further action after Brown went down.

I rate this as a clear win for Cronin. He landed a good blow before the officials interfered. The zebra interference definitely hurt Shawn. Brown had his left hand free while Shawn was unable to adequately defend himself from Dave's late barrage. The effective uppercuts by Brown were extra-curricular as far as I'm concerned and they shouldn't count in the scoring.

Although much of the bout was unfair, I think it is wise to refrain from invalidating the result of the fight. Cronin did land a very effective blow. It was not as if Brown went down from some marginal shot. Dave was able to recover very quickly and resumed punching. Therefore I don't think it should be regarded as a TKO by Cronin. Shawn landed an effective enough punch that the verdict should be considered better than a narrow win. Brown did not need to be rescued from the overzealous officials, so a decisive win is out of the question. I think a clear win call for Cronin is the best logical conclusion.

Brown and Cronin had a great rivalry. Dave scored an impressive TKO in their first fight and won a couple of subsequent bouts. The rivalry started to tilt in Shawn's favor with a TKO win and another strong performance in this bout. "Cronin the Barbarian" was a very good NHL fighter who was one of the top heavyweights in the NHL in the early 1990's.

Shawn Cronin win by TKO Fun

Camera gets there little late, but it looked to me Cronin landed a left that put Brown to the ice. After linesmen stepped in, one of them had a good hold of Cronin, but the other didn't have Brown's hands tied so Brown was able to throw some suckerpunches at Cronin. But that doesn't change the fact that Cronin knocked Brown to the ice, TKO win for Cronin.

Don't know if this is an unfair fight or not. The camera was focused late to the fight and it looked like Cronin TKO'd Brown. After that the refs came in but Brown found a hole between them and started to hammer Cronin with lefts.

Overrated ... why people scored this as a 7 or 8, i'm not sure why because it deserves only a 4 at best. As soon as the fight began, the ref was on top of players down on the ice ... followed by even more refs when they stood up. The ref named "Degrace" was a DISGRACE because he did a poor job of preventing Brown from firing punches since Cronin was handcuffed by the other ref while Brown used him like a punching bag. Mark this down as either N/R or unfair fight.
