Joe Loprieno narrowly misses a big open ice hit on Aaron Volpatti and they decide to shed the mitts afterwards. They push away from each other and then get a grip of one another's jersey. Loprieno leans away but then lands a right to the side of the head. Volpatti comes back with three rights, landing one as Loprieno bends over steeply to try to get out of range. Volpatti goes down but gets up as Loprieno misses two rights. Volpatti misses a right and then lands a right to the face as Loprieno lands a right. Loprieno lands a right and then leans away and then Volpatti lands a right. Loprieno lands a right to the side of the head and there's a brief pause. Volpatti switches hands and lands two rights, then switches hands and misses a right. Volpatti gets turned around afterwards but it is Loprieno who falls down and the linesmen come in. Not a bad fight in my opinion, both landed some punches. Draw.

Curt Gogol narrow win Fun
5
Shortly after the Aaron Volpatti and Joe Loprieno fight, Curt Gogol and Taylor Ellington both get into their second scrap in this rookie tournament. They lose the gloves, helmets, and squareoff. Gogol moves in quick and gets a grip with the left as Ellington gets a grip with the left too. Gogol misses a right and then ducks for a bit before jersey jabbing with the left. Gogol then misses a right and Ellington comes back with a missing right. Then Gogol misses a right and starts ducking as they spin around. Ellington meanwhile, throws three rights and lands one as Gogol gets in close. Gogol gets his head and changes hands, then throws four lefts, landing two as Ellington misses just one right. Gogol switches hands and stands back, missing two rights. Gogol changes hands and Ellington misses a right. Ellington then misses a right as Gogol lands a left. Ellington loses his balance and slips to the ice as Gogol changes hands and misses two rights while the referees get in and break it up. Edge Gogol for landing slightly more and better. Average bout in my book.

This was a pretty good scrap. Gogol and Ellington had a lengthy pose off before getting down to business. Gogol landed a decent right and an average left jab. He landed a decent left and missed three punches. Taylor missed a blow and landed an average shot. He landed a decent blow and a light punch. Curt missed a punch and landed a partial connect. He missed several punches. Ellington missed a blow and slipped to the ice. Gogol missed a shot, landed a solid blow, and missed a punch. The refs stopped the fight.

I rate this as a narrow win for Gogol. The fight was pretty even until Curt landed a solid blow at the end. Gogol is a second generation enforcer. His dad was Brent Gogol, one of the minor league badmen of back in the day. Brent had over 500 penalty minutes one season and built up quite a fighting reputation.

Decent fight, both go at it the whole bout, Ellington lands a couple including one beauty but Gogol takes over late and gets a narrow victory for his first NHL win.

Sawyer Hannay shoves Kevin Henderson after an Eddie Lack save and the gloves are dropped almost right away. Henderson lowers his head as Hannay throws three rights and connects with one. Hannay loses his balance though and falls backwards to the ice. Once down, Henderson starts throwing rights but the linesmen come in soon after. Henderson throws three rights and connects with one as Hannay throws one back up at Henderson that misses before the linesmen restrain Hannay. Draw in a bad fight.

Leigh Salters clear win Fun
6
Taylor Jordan and Leigh Salters drop their gloves and shed their helmets right off a faceoff. They proceed with a squareoff and tentatively get a hold of one another with the left. They trade back and forth immediately, Jordan missing two rights and Salters also missing two rights. Salters then prods Jordan which puts him on the defensive and Salters throws three rights, landing the last one. It actually puts Salters off balance but he's able to keep on his skates. Jordan and Salters start to spin around afterwards and Salters throws two rights, connecting with one. Jordan comes back with a missing right then uprights himself to stop the spinning as Salters throws five rights, landing three. Jordan then misses a right just as Salters misses a right. Salters misses two rights and Jordan comes back with four missing rights as Salters just stays inactive. They pause and Salters then misses a right with Jordan missing a right after. Salters then resumes prodding with the left just as Jordan misses a right and then Salters misses a right. Jordan misses a right after and then prods with the left before the linesmen step in and decide to stop the fight. Alright scrap. Salters had more control of the fight and landed more than Jordan for the win.

Clear win to Salters seeing as he is really the only one throwing, Jordan seems to be trying to catch his ballance most of the time

Pretty sure the periods are normal, 20 minutes. The boxscores are just all over the place for this tournament today, but I think everything gets corrected at the end.Reply
