Harold Snepts and Wayne Pressley start jousting with their sticks, after the puck is froze from Greg Stefan. Tim Higgins then comes in cross-checks Presley right in the face. BRUTAL! Higgins gets the 5-minute MAJOR and GAME MISCONDUCT. Fun

Curt Fraser narrow win Fun

Fraser had his right hand loose and was throwing a series of rapid-fire blows. He landed a decent punch and a solid connect. He missed a punch. He landed a decent blow and another solid connect. Curt had Kocur's right hand neutralized in the early part of the fight.

Joey pulled Curt off-balance with his left hand, which was holding the front of the collar. He managed to get his right hand free of Fraser's grip. Joey landed a right hand. It was a partial connect, but it had above-average pop. Fraser went down because of a combination of a loss of balance and the effect of the blow. Joey landed one more solid shot as the two were on the ice. They began to grapple and the refs stopped the bout.

I rate this as a narrow win for Fraser. He landed four right hands with moderate pop. There is no way in my mind that this was a TKO win for Kocur. Curt's balance was seriously compromised by Joey pulling down on his jersey. Curt was not shaken up by any punches and he got up quickly and skated away briskly. Fraser landed a couple more effective shots and earned the win.

Curt Fraser vs. Joey Kocur / Dec 23, 1986

Fraser and Kocur drop the gloves and get it on in the corner. Fraser is out the traps quickly as he throws eight short rapid fire punches at Kocur, landing six to the back and side of his helmet. Fraser's punches didn't pack much power but were coming thick and fast not giving Kocur much opportunity to get set up. Kocur tried to respond with a right hand but Fraser had a strong grip on Kocur's right arm.

Eventually as they approached the boards Kocur free'd his arm up to stop himself hitting the glass and was now able to return fire on Fraser. Fraser began to lose his balance due to the momentum of his punches and Kocur let fly with a right that narrowly missed over the top of Fraser's helmet. Kocur followed through with his elbow and the momentum of the swing upset Fraser's balance enough to send him down.

Kocur came down on top of Fraser against the boards and the two wrestled around a little bit as the officials came in. Fraser managed to flip Kocur over and claim top position as the officials intervened. This is an edge for Fraser, he landed most of the punches in this short scrap despite them being weaker shots. This is not a TKO as Kocur's punch didn't connect. Fraser was already on the verge of going down and the momentum of Kocur's punch helped him on his way.

Narrow win Fraser.

They drop the gloves in the corner and Fraser throws 8 rights in a row with several landing until Kocur gets free and throws one that goes flying over Fraser's head as he falls to the ice from the momentum of his punches.

Two guys who were known to be hard punchers (although Kocur had a much harder punch) get into a dustup here in the corner. Fraser misses with the first right but keeps his right hand going. The Chicago tough guy lands six rights but they all connect to the back or side of Kocur's helmet. Fraser gets off balance and Kocur throws a big right that fails to connect. Fraser falls down and he drags Kocur down with him. Kocur hits Fraser with one while on the ice and the officials intervene.

Although they weren't the most damaging blows since they hit helmet, Fraser landed more punches than Kocur and for that he gets the edge.

The quality of this video is quite debatable. Anyway, in this short bout, Fraser clearly blasted Kocur at the beginning. He feed him with some quick rights, then Kocur threw a wild right. Hard to say if it landed but I think so.

Quick fight that has been debated. It seems Fraser gets the jump and knockdown though some have said it is Kocur who knocks down Fraser. Looks to me as Fraser has the clear advantage in this fight.

I just don´t see Kocur landing that right he threw. And if he didn´t, Fraser won this fight clear cut. He threw a bunch of quick rights and landed a few of them, even though they weren´t haymakers. He gets a clear nod on points.

That narrow win for Kocur should be pulled. It makes zero sense.Reply
