About the only thing exciting was that the fight was right in front of the camera to the side of the Calgary bench so when you turned the volume up, you could hear the officials screaming at them.

All wrestling without any punches being landed by either guy, as was mentioned listening to the linesmen was the best part of this fight, draw.

I recorded this game off of ON-TV and still have it. Williams-Hunter was basically a hug-fest with several body shots thrown by Hunter. As that fight broke up, Hunter pointed to the scoreboard and was escorted off the ice. Williams took a long slow skate down to the other end of the rink & while he was getting an ovation, the camera switched to Ruskowski who pummeled Macoun & unleashed with right hands. This brought other Flames in & at one brief point, it looked like it might break out into something more given Baxter was on the ice but aside from Mark Hardy, the Kings didn't have any more toughness so it died right there. A pretty good ending to an otherwise dull game. Fun

Tim Hunter clear win Fun

Bernie Nicholls hit Jamie Macoun from behind. There was a heated scrum. Williams and Hunter squared off. Dave landed a decent blow and missed a couple of punches. Hunter landed about a dozen blows to the body. He got in better position to throw punches to the head.

Tim landed a decent blow, missed a shot, and landed an average left hand. He landed a couple of solid connects. He missed a couple of punches and landed a couple of decent blows. Williams missed a few rights. He wasn't able to get much offense going in the bout. Hunter landed a final body shot.

I rate this as a clear win for Hunter. He landed several more punches to the head in the fight. Two or three of the blows had solid pop. He was able to handle Williams while taking little incoming fire.

A seemingly disjointed scrum suddenly snowballs into 2 separate fights featuring Hunter vs. Williams and then later on, Ruskowski vs. Macoun. It begins when Williams is yelling at Macoun & Hunter. So Hunter then grabs him and they begin to scrap. However, it's all Hunter in this fight as Williams just passively holds on for dear life. Hunter starts off with a very long series of bodypunches which was the only thing that he could do since Williams adhered himself in tightly to Hunter. Then Hunter finally creates a little space between himself & Williams which gave him the chance to land 6 straight facial/head punches. Williams just continues to hold on but then the last couple of moments sees Williams landing 1 short facialpunch on Hunter. Hunter answers back with 1 bodypunch before the refs break them up. Very clear win for Hunter.

I watched, listened to or attended the vast majority of King's games during this era (from 77 till the "Great One" ) . While Williams was being outpointed by Hunter, Ruskowski was doing a number on Macoun according to the King's announcers. (Bob Miller and Nick Nickson).Reply

Terry Ruskowski decisive win Fun

This was an impressive beatdown by one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the history of professional hockey. Macoun gave tough Ron Delorme a legendary battle. Roscoe beat the tar out of him in this one.

Ruskowski clamped down on Jamie's right arm and proceeded to overwhelm Macoun with a series of powerful and quick right hands. Terry missed a punch, landed a solid blow, and landed an average connect. Macoun couldn't get right hands off. Roscoe missed a punch and landed four solid blows. He missed a punch and landed four pretty good shots. The refs stopped the bout with Jamie unable to land one punch.

This was a decisive win for Ruskowski. He dominated the fight with Macoun. The more footage you see of Roscoe, the more you realize he was quite simply one of the greatest fighters in NHL history. He had blistering hand-speed, fighting acumen, and good pop that belied his small stature. He was the total package.

After the Hunter & Williams fight is over, Ruskowski grabs Macoun within the crowd of players. Ruskowski bangs on Macoun's melon with 10 straight facial/head punches before the refs decide to get in between them to stop the one-sided action. Macoun never threw a swing. Decisive win for Ruskowski.

There is footage available of the earlier Otto Anderson altercation, and i seem to recall seeing a short clip of the Williams Hunter fracus so perhaps footage exist of these fights.Reply
