Lindsay Carson narrow win Fun
3
The puck is deflected out of play in the St Louis end and Carson gets up from the ice and stares down Schofield. They drop the gloves and have a short squareoff. Carson wades in swinging, narrowly missing the first right but connecting solidly with the second blow to the face. He lands a body shot and rips Schofield's helmet off as they get in close. Schofield delivers a right to the ribs and appears to miss another punch as Carson tries to fling him to the ice. They go down with Schofield on top and the officials go to the ice to pry them apart.

Narrow win for Carson in an upset. Schofield was a superior fighter overall and likely would have prevailed had the fight lasted longer. Carson was quicker to the punch however and landed a good one before they went down.

Lindsay Carson narrow win Fun
3
Lindsay Carson gets up after being knocked down while a puck goes out of play and Carson finds Dwight Schofield skating away close by. Schofield and Carson glare at each other and get set to drop the gloves. They square off and Schofield misses a right as Carson tries to grab on with the left and incidentally hits Schofield. Carson then lands a right and misses a right while Schofield misses a right. Schofield then misses a right as Carson lands a right that knocks Schofield's helmet off. Schofield gets in tight and raises his head, losing his helmet in doing so. Schofield then throws two rights and lands one while Carson falls back to the ice. The linesmen get in quickly and break it up before anymore punches are thrown. A very quick fight between these two tough guys. Carson got a couple punches in, including a pretty effective right but soon lost his balance as Schofield tried to come back. Win Carson.

Very short bout with Carson landing a couple off the start the Schofield landing one before they fell down.
Carson gets the slight edge for landing those two quick rights.

Jim Pavese narrow win Fun

Pavese schooled Tocchet in this fight. He wrapped up Rick's arms on the inside and had good leverage with his own right hand. He landed three decent rights and a partially connecting left. He landed a solid right uppercut and a partial connect.

Tocchet missed a right, landed a decent connect, and landed a body blow. Pavese landed a body punch and a decent right. He landed a rabbit punch behind Rick's head. Tocchet hauled Jim down to the ice and landed a decent punch before the refs separated the two.

I rate this as a narrow win for Pavese. He landed several more punches than Tocchet. I consider the win of the narrow variety because most of the blows were decent connects. Jim landed several legitimate punches and scored enough to leave no doubt that he was the winner.

Jim Pavese narrow win Fun

Jim Pavese grabs hold of Rick Tocchet as he's near Mike Liut who's covered up the puck for a whistle. Pavese and Tocchet wrestle to the boards while getting the gloves off. Tocchet presses Pavese against the boards as Pavese lands three small rights that get Tocchet's helmet off. Pavese misses a left and then throws two rights, connecting with one. Tocchet lands a right and as they continue to wrestle, Pavese loses his helmet. Pavese throws two rights and lands one to the body before missing a left but then landing a right. Tocchet uses his foot to trip Pavese and then lands a right before the linesmen dive in between them. Poor fight and an edge to Pavese. Tocchet was quite conservative through this fight, mostly inactive and just keeping Pavese against the boards. Pavese threw almost all the punches and landed a handful of them though none were too effective. Tocchet ended the fight with a dirty move by tripping Pavese to the ice and using the opportunity to land a punch just before the linesmen could break it up.

Again like a lot of fights his rookie season, Tocchet and his man wrestle in tight along the boards, Tocchet eventually kicks Pavese's legs out and punches him in the face as he goes down. no damage done here though.

The fighters are in tight the whole time and Pavese is the only one throwing punches. Granted, they don't seem to be doing much, Tocchet is just holding on. After Pavese throws around 8-10 punches, Tocchet kicks his legs out from under him and lands on top.

Pavese with the "clear" narrow win here.

Dave Brown narrow win Fun

Johnson and Brown get into a fight behind the play. Brown loses his helmet early but has Johnson backed up to the glass in the neutral zone. Johnson lands a short, hard left to the skull and Brown fans on some early lefts. Johnson wants the fight at close quarters and switches to the right hand, ruffling Brown's hair with some soft shots. Brown lands a left to the helmet and they wrestle for position. Brown can't get separation as Johnson maintains his death grip on Brown and lands noogies with alternating hands. Brown tosses a short right to the earhole and then a left. He swings his left out wide and connects with three consecutive punches to the helmet/earhole. The rest of the scrap is grappling interspersed with short, weak punches. When the officials finally move in to end this lengthy and tedious display, Johnson has to be pried loose from his embrace with Brown. After they're separated, he puts on his "let me at him" act for the home crowd.

Narrow win for Brown. Johnson's first punch was the only one he threw with any force. He was just enjoying the waltz after that. Brown landed about the same amount of punches but his were thrown with more conviction and though he didn't hurt Johnson with any of them, he was the more aggressive fighter. This could be called a draw since Johnson was able to fight the battle he wanted (slow dance with light love taps) but Brown got enough decent punches in to gain the slight edge.

This was a lengthy scrap along the boards. Both men employed headlocks and wrestling holds at times, but Johnson was the man more committed to using the grappling style. Terry landed a couple of shots that had a little less than decent impact. He landed three lighter raps that were not very effective.

Brown missed a couple of lefts and landed a partial connect. Johnson landed a handful of noogie-like blows. Dave landed an average left and a partial connect. Johnson connected with a decent punch. Brown landed a couple of partial connects.

Johnson continued to lightly pepper Brown with soft, ineffective blows. Dave landed an ineffective blow in return. Then, he got a little separation and landed a couple of left hands with decent pop. Terry got Dave in a bear hug and Brown was unable to get any more blows off. Johnson landed a blow with a little less than decent impact. The refs saw enough and stopped the contest.

I rate this as a narrow win for Brown. This was a terrible fight. Johnson did not commit to throwing his punches with any type of authority. I have seen more contact in a kid's game of patty-cake. Dave did manage to land a few modestly effective blows and I think it was enough to earn a win against the passive Johnson.

Terry Johnson and Dave Brown come together along the boards and drop the gloves. They grab on in close and Brown's helmet comes off as they wrestle. Johnson lands a left and then connects with a left as Brown lands a left of his own. Brown lands a left and Johnson lands three lefts before Brown connects with a left. Johnson then throws six soft rights and lands five before missing a right as Brown lands a left. Brown misses a left as they get off the boards but they soon wrestle back against them. Johnson connects on a soft left and a soft right as Brown grabs onto the glass to pin Johnson to the boards. Brown connects with a soft left and then throws two soft rights and lands one. Johnson then throws four soft rights and lands three and Brown misses a left after. They wrestle and get off the boards, then Brown tries to duck away while Johnson misses a left. Brown can't get loose but connects with three lefts before Johnson misses two lefts. They go back to the boards and continue wrestling while Brown lands a left and Johnson misses a right. Brown then throws two lefts and lands one while keeping Johnson against the boards and Johnson throws two lefts and lands one after. Brown misses two lefts and the linesmen reach in between them to break them apart. This was a long fight but it was definitely a boring one. They fought in close the entire time did plenty of wrestling, especially in the later rounds. Brown threw better punches and gets the edge but nothing landed effectively even though both threw plenty of times. Edge to Brown in a bad fight.

Dave Brown and Terry Johnson get into a scrap along the boards. It is a fight fought in close quarters with the two men in tight with one another. Brown's helmet falls off as Johnson lands two weak lefts to the side of Brown's head. Brown also lands two lefts. Johnson smacks the side of Brown's head three more times as he lands some noogies while Brown lands another left. Johnson goes to the right, landing four weak noogies and Brown connects with two more lefts. They wrestle up against the glass. Johnson gets in two more weak, short punches while Brown lands a punch as well. Johnson taps the back of Brown's head a couple more times before putting the clench on the Flyer, trying to hug him to death. Brown breaks free and scores with two lefts. Johnson misses with a left and they wrestle up against the glass once more until they are separated.

Brown landed the far more effective punches and his had much more pop to them than Johnson's weak little noogies. Brown gets the decision but it wasn't much of a fight.

Johnson just holds on for dear life throwing a few noogies along the way. Brown gets some room at point and gets off 2 or 3 quick lefts landing on the helmet but most of this bout is a pure hugfest because Johnson has no desire to fight.

Brown and Pavese get into a fight in the slot area of the Flyer zone. Brown whiffs on five lefts as they swing around in a circle. He lands a punch to the chest area and Pavese misses a couple of lefts in tight. Brown's helmet shakes loose and he misses a final left. They grapple and the linesmen eventually move in.

Draw. Brown landed the only blow and it was not much. There was more grappling than punching in this tilt.

Brown found out the hard way that fighting Pavese was a frustrating experience. Jim was draped all over Dave throughout the bout. Brown landed a decent left and missed two punches. Pavese was hugging on the inside. He missed a right and landed a partial connect. Brown missed two blows. Jim landed a partial connect. Dave landed a partial connect. The refs stopped the bout after some more wrestling.

Jim Pavese and Dave Brown end up getting into their second fight of the night with each other as they meet up in the slot and drop the gloves. Both grab on and Pavese gets in close on the larger Brown who throws two lefts and lands one. Pavese misses a right and Brown then misses two lefts before pausing. Brown throws two lefts and lands one while Pavese throws three rights to the body and lands two. Pavese then lands a left and after some wrestling around, Pavese lands a left again that loosens Brown's helmet. Brown lands a left that knocks his own helmet off and as they continue wrestling, Pavese gets Brown bent over. Brown straightens himself but the linesmen move in anyways and stop the fight there. After the fight, Brown has a small nick on his nose but isn't bleeding very much. Bad fight that never got going. They landed similarly so I'll call it a draw.

Dave Brown gets into a fight with the much smaller Jim Pavese. They go at it in the Philadelphia slot area. Brown lands a left and the two men get in tight. Pavese wants to stay in as close as he can with Brown. The two men spin around and wrestle. Brown lands a left and misses with a left. Pavese also lands a left as he wrestles with the Flyer. Pavese lands a left to the back of Brown's head, knocking his helmet off and Brown also lands one to the back of Pavese's head. Pavese then just hangs on for dear life as he wrestles with Brown. The two men are in very tight and neither can free which prompts the linesmen to come in.

A typical Pavese fight where there was more wrestling than punching. There were few punches thrown but an even amount landed on both sides, making this boring scrap a draw.

Dave Brown decisive win Fun
6
Brown went after Schofield in retaliation for Dwight's hit on Brad Marsh. Dave grabbed him and started firing away with left hands. He landed a pretty good shot and a solid blow. Dwight never really had his feet in a good position and lost his balance after missing a right hand.

Brown showed no mercy as Dwight was falling to the ice. He poured it on and continued to score. He missed a couple of punches, landed a couple of solid connects, and landed a couple of pretty good blows. The refs stepped in, but Brown landed a couple more effective punches.

I rate this as a decisive win. This was a beatdown by Brown. He overwhelmed Schofield and had him in big trouble on the ice surface. He was scoring with rapid-fire powerful left hands and Dwight was helpless to fight back.

Dwight Scofield bumps with Peter Zezel and later in the shift finishes a hit on Brad Marsh. A whistle stops play for a penalty call and Dave Brown heads right to Schofield who then suckerpunches Marsh, dropping him to the ice. Brown and Schofield lose the gloves collide with Brown missing a left and Schofield landing a right. However Schofield can't get set after that although Brown keeps his left free. Brown throws seven straight lefts and lands six with Schofield just ducking and then going to his knees. Brown falls onto his knees as well and while Schofield just covers up on the ice, Brown throws five final lefts, landing two with the linesmen hurrying in to break it up. Schofield grabs Brown's legs as Brown gets up and then throws three lefts down at Schofield, landing two before being forced away. Decisive win to Brown. Schofield was never able to get set or throw a punch. He just grabbed on, ducked, and soon went to ice as Brown kept throwing lefts until the linesmen got in.

Dwight Schofield throws a hit at Brad Marsh which draws Dave Brown in to enforce. Brown challenges Schofield and the two men go at it as the other players also pair off. Brown tags Schofield with three quick lefts, pounding the St. Louis player to his knees. Schofield covers up and the officials start to come in. Brown isn't finished though and he hits Schofield with five more lefts. The linesmen try to subdue Brown but he throws two more blows at Schofield. As the officials finally get them under control, another fight breaks out between Perry Anderson and Brad Marsh.

Brown pounded Schofield into submission. Schofield was turtling and covering up, making this a decisive win for the fearsome Flyer.

This was a dull fight. Marsh got knocked to the ice by Dwight Schofield. Dave Brown grabbed Schofield and started to pummel him. Brad squared off with Perry Anderson. He threw a right hand at him, but the cameras don't show whether it landed or not.

The telecast covered the exciting Brown beatdown. The camera went back to the Mrsh-Anderson bout and it was revealed that this was a boring contest that featured mostly wrestling. Brad missed a few rights. Perry was holding and wrestling.

Marsh had Anderson bent over. He missed a right, landed a decent left, and missed a shot. He got on top of Perry, but he was content to hold and did not attempt any more punches.

I rate this as a draw. Marsh tried to make it a fight, but Anderson was content to wrestle. Brad landed one blow. There may have been more action that we missed. I think it best to conclude that it was a draw based on the visual evidence available to us.

Brad Marsh narrow win Fun

Brad Marsh was suckerpunched by Dwight Schofield, sparking the fight between Dave Brown and Schofield and when Marsh gets up, he pairs off with Perry Anderson. Marsh drops the gloves so Anderson drops the gloves too and Marsh misses a right at the outset. Anderson gets in close and as they wrestle around, Marsh throws two rights and lands one. Anderson just tries to wrestle Marsh down and they both go to their knees. Anderson ducks as Marsh misses three rights and then Anderson gets up. Anderson tries to get Marsh onto his back but can't and when Marsh gets up, Anderson misses a right. Marsh misses two rights as they wrestle and then lands a left with Anderson ducking again. Anderson then goes to the ice after Marsh misses a right. Marsh just holds Anderson down and a crowd forms around them but a linesman also gets there to make sure no more rough stuff breaks out and that Marsh and Anderson get broken up. Another bad fight in this rough game, like the other boring tilts, this was mostly wrestling. Anderson focused almost exclusively on defense and went for the takedown initially but Marsh stayed up and was in control of the fight more so than Anderson. Marsh was more active and landed the only punches so he gets the edge here.
