Kevin McClelland win by TKO Fun
6
McClelland dominated Milbury and beat him quickly. Mike missed a right and landed a decent blow. Kevin landed three good left hands. Milbury was stunned and grabbed McClelland's arm as he was falling down. The refs stepped in and Mike jawed with Kevin. McClelland landed a final average blow.

This was a TKO for McClelland. He landed three good shots and Milbury was sent towards the ice. He grabbed an arm and this slowed his fall a bit. This was not a good display of fighting acumen from Milbury. Kevin was a powerful lefty and Mike did nothing to tie up his dominant arm.

Kevin McClelland win by TKO Fun

I do not know what precipitated this but the action consisted of about what you'd expect: Milbury threw right hand slap punches while McClelland countered with his usual quick-but-looping left hands. The third or fourth of these from McClelland caught Milbury flush on the right side of his face and dropped him on to all fours. The Bruin defenseman wasn't badly hurt; he was able to get right back up. The two yapped at one another for a bit as they were escorted to the penalty box. Although this was a very brief encounter, I rated it as a six for two reasons. First, it's Mike MIlbury being TKO'd which automatically makes it fun and finally, only a small percentage of ice hockey fights actually result in someone being cleanly dropped by a punch. Those two factors make this very short fight an above average scrap.

Camera first gets to them while they are already fighting. Milbury lands 1 early facialpunch but then quickly gets buried by 3 fast facialpunches while McClelland's last facialpunch sends Milbury to his knees. Milbury trys to save face by quickly popping back up to the ice and this was while the refs joined in when he first went down. Tko for McClelland.

I would like the record to reflect that this was absolutely a clean TKO. The review by the user "canucks" appears to be preventing the fight card for each man from correctly indicating this as he has not deigned to give the tilt a proper review. It is only fair to Kevin McClelland that he be credited with a most satisfying TKO victory over the obnoxious Milbury.Reply

Blum went after Gretzky after Wayne had his head down trying to retrieve a pass from an Oilers player. John charged at him and had the stick up. He landed a blow up around the face and Wayne went down hard. The trainer went out to attend to Gretzky. Don Jackson wanted a piece of Blum, but it didn't appear that the two exchanged any blows. Teammates separated them and Blum went to the penalty box.

Gretzky got up and continued to play. He was shaken up a bit by the blow to the head, but he looked like he was OK after shaking out the cobwebs. Blum's blow had the head as the principal point of contact and the hit was dirty.

Behind the play they drop the gloes, Blum gets off first throwing a few rights landing one. McClelland gets the lefts going missing with most but lands a bodyshot and a grazing one to the helmet. They tie up and move into the boards, McClelland gets Blums helmet off and thows a couple rights that dont connect, Blum throws one to the side of the head and they tie up again till the linesmen move in.

Draw, both landed a couple meaningless shots but no damage done on either side.

Blum was one of the most boring fighters the Bruins ever had. However, he was a strong guy who could wrestle effectively. He went up against Kevin McClelland who was one of the better heavyweights in the NHL in the mid-1980's. John appeared to get in two decent rights before wrestling with Kevin. McClelland landed a couple of decent left hands. Neither guy could get much leverage on his blows at such short range.

The two engaged in lengthy wrestling. As usual, Blum was initiating the wrestling. Kevin got so frustrated that he picked up John. He was not able to take his opponent down and he put Blum down again. John just missed with a right hand. Kevin appeared to land a decent uppercut. He had a light rap on the back of John's head.

This was another Blum stinker. Both guys landed a couple of decent blows. The bout was mostly a wrestling match without much action. Blum's wrestling was not very pleasing to watch, but he did manage to neutralize McClelland in the fight. The result was an uneventful draw.

Wrestling match that also saw McClelland get the helmet off of Blum to land 1 head-punch. McClelland also threw a short uppercut but it's difficult to say if this landed or not. Blum never landed a punch. Give the narrow win to McClelland.

Pretty lame in terms of a bench brawl but I remember watching this game live and it was fun feeling the emotion building to a boil after the Blum hit on Gretzky and you could feel it getting ready to explode. I miss that in todays hockey. Fun

Right off the faceoff Jackson goes after Blum dropping his gloves as Blum moves in front of the net. Blum ties up Jackson and Jackson throws 2 short rights that hits Blums shoulder pads. They wrestle a bit more and Blum misses with a short right, Jackson cannot score with his short rights and then Blum takes him down.

Neither did anything in this fight and no punches landed, draw in a crap fight.

Jackson and Blum were grappling on the inside. This was the style that Blum seemed most comfortable with. Don liked to slug it out freely with an opponent. He was a risk-taker by nature while John liked to take the conservative approach.

Jackson missed a couple of rights and landed a partial connect on the helmet. Blum was fighting even more defensively than usual. He was trying to keep Jackson from landing with any big shots. Don landed a modest body blow. Blum missed with a right hand. Jackson missed with one more right as both guys went down.

Jackson was the aggressor, but his blows were not very effective. Blum was determined to wrestle and tie him up. I have to rate this as a draw because Jackson did not even land a decent shot. He landed one body punch and that was it. I would love to give this one to Jackson because of his fighting spirit. However, Blum was all defense and avoided taking any punishment. Thus, the fight should be regarded as a draw.

Crappy fight by John Blum & Don Jackson because they only wrestled while throwing swings that negligibly hit the shoulder pads, etc. Blum then fell on top of Jackson. Draw.

I dont want to be nitpicky and I am a Bruins fan but no way Jackson won this fight clearly, he threw 3 maybe 4 punches and none of them connected with anything but pads or Blums arm. It was a hugfest, plain and simple.Reply

As Jackson and Blum are going these two grab hold of each other and start talking. They decide to go and both are in close, Curran gets off a right to the back of Semenkos head then a bodyshot and puts Semenko in a bearhug, both get in a couple noogies or inside blows and Curran takes Semenko down landing on top.

Nothing really damaging landed and it was mainly a hugfest so score it a draw.

Curran and Semenko found themselves as dance partners after Jackson and Blum were starting to go at it. At first, the men just held. Curran started to throw rights. He landed a decent blow and missed a few shots. Semenko had trouble getting rights off at short range. He missed one punch before Brian wrestled him to the ice. The two grappled on the ice for a long time, but it was unclear from the footage whether any meaningful blows connected.

I rate this as a draw. Curran landed one decent blow, but it was not enough to secure a win. This was a boring contest with mostly wrestling.

Brian Curran and Dave Semenko line up next to each other before a faceoff at the end of the 2nd period. Curran trips Semenko right off the faceoff and he falls down as well. They get up but meanwhile John Blum and Don Jackson pair off and began to fight. Semenko and Curran both come over and they end up coming together and shedding the mitts also.

The two men get in tight and start to wrestle. Curran lands a right hand. He then misses with a right as does Semenko. Curran misses with two more blows, lands one to the back of the head and misses with one more punch. Curran then wrestles Semenko down to the ice. The officials are busy separating the other two combatants so Semenko and Curran wrestle on the ice for a bit before the linesmen are able to come over.

Curran landed a couple of blows but nothing substantial enough to justify him getting a win. This is a draw as Semenko didn't do much while Curran didn't do enough to gain the upper hand.
