Bob Nystrom clear win Fun
7
I remember seeing this fight the night it happened. Both guys threw ferocious right hand punches. They went toe to toe for quite a while, but Nystrom clearly landed the more clean and effective blows. While Anderson, who was a rookie, matched Nystrom right for right, it was Nystroms punches that snapped Andersons head back on more than one occasion. I was surprised at how good a job Anderson did in this fight, and how good a chin he had, but Nystrom was this clear winner in this battle.

...and that an angry Howatt tried to get back at Owch, jumping him from behind, but Owchar still outwrestled him.Reply

Just curious. Based on the read results..did you read a Penguins fan site account of these events?Reply

I'm sure it was on either Fried Chicken or hockeyfights, those are the forums I search the most. But you bring up a good point, could very well be biased reportsReply

This was just posted about the 3 fights in the game over on FC:

Quote from message by
This game was televised but the something went wrong in the truck (feed) and the game was never televised back to NY. It was the Pens vs the Islanders. There were three fights in the game. Howatt and Owchar first. Howatt had the protective mask. Owchar got the mask off and kicked his ass. Might be the worse beating I ever saw Howatt take. Next fight was Nystrom vs Russ Anderson. Those guys went toe to toe up to that point the best Penguin fight I ever saw. I thought Anderson beat him. The third fight was Owchar and Howatt again. Howatt jumped Owchar cause he was so embarrassed from the first drubbing. Was not much of a fight since Howatt jumped Owchar from behind.
