Marc-Edouard Vlasic and David Backes get into a battle in front of the net on a St. Louis Blues' powerplay. Vlasic and Backes trade a some crosschecks and then get the sticks up high on each other. A linesman comes in between them as Vlasic has his stick up near Backes' neck while Backes has his in Vlasic's midsection. Backes then pulls Vlasic's head downward before the linesmen break them apart and then give them each minor penalties. Fun

Logan Couture and Martin Havlat have a two-on-one and Couture passes the puck to Havlat who's backhand shot is stopped by Jaroslav Halak. Barret Jackman is racing down the ice to try and check Havlat but after he shoots, Jackman goes past Havlat and collides with Halak. Halak's head snaps back and he goes down awkwardly behind his net as the puck comes loose. Play is whistled down due to Halak's injury and he needs some assistance to get back up. Halak would then make his way to the locker room and didn't return to the game. Emotion

Vladimir Sobotka makes a nice deke past a sliding Jason Demers to get a backhand shot on net. The shot goes high over Antti Niemi while Dominic Moore comes in from behind and gives Sobotka a slight push in the back. Sobotka's off balance and the push sends him into teammate, Scott Nichol. After hitting Nichol, Sobotka flies over top of Niemi and lands right on his head and neck in the net. Sobotka was a little slow to get up but would remain in the game. Fun

A scrum starts around Brian Elliot after he makes a big save on a Joe Pavelski wrap around. Players begin to pair off and B.J. Crombeen grabs Patrick Marleau. They jostle a little bit with Scott Nichol also grabbing at Marleau. Pavelski grabs Crombeen from behind and Marleau suddenly gives Crombeen a gloved left to the face. Marleau then backs away from Crombeen who shakes his head at Marleau. Pavelski is grabbed by Kris Russell and they eventually drop the gloves. Fun

This occurs during the mixing up between players just before the Joe Pavelski vs. Kurt Russell fight. For a moment, we see Crombeem shove Marleau with the ref involved ... then the camera goes off them for 3 seconds ... then the camera focuses on them just in time to see Marleau give Crombeen a big gloved punch in the face that made Crombeen's head snap backwards. Crombeen surprisingly only gave a big innocent look back at Pavelski as in "I didn't do anything to deserve that". Fun

Joe Pavelski is grabbed by Kris Russell during the scrum and they drift to the halfboards doing a little grappling with each other. Russell then drops a glove and Pavelski drops his gloves while Russell drops his other one. Pavelski reaches for Russell's helmet and visor and Russell misses three rights. Russell's helmet comes off and then Pavelski misses a right before Russell misses a right. Russell jersey jabs a bit and then Pavelski misses a right that sends him falling to the ice. Russell misses two rights and goes down on top of Pavelski. The linesmen come in and break it up there. Draw as no punches landed in this bad fight.

Scott Nichol goes up to pressure Brent Burns as he gets the puck at the point. Burns moves it back into the offensive zone and Nichol turns away from Burns just after. Burns then throws out his elbow and catches Nichol in the back of the head. Nichol is slightly jarred from the hit and Burns is given a minor penalty for roughing. Dirty play by Burns without a doubt. He clearly threw an elbow at Nichol's head. Emotion

T.J. Galiardi lays into Andy McDonald along the boards and McDonald doesn't like the hit. McDonald goes down with Galiardi and immediately gets up and gives him a gloved punch. Carlo Colaiacovo comes in too and grabs at Galiardi as he gets up. Other players come piling in then as McDonald misses a few more gloved punches at Galiardi. Torrey Mitchell then jumps on McDonald from behind while Dominic Moore grabs Colaiacovo from behind. Mitchell takes McDonald down while a linesman pulls Galiardi from the pile. The other players are fast broken up too and the scrum ends there. Fun

Andy McDonald was pretty mad after taking a big hit from T.J. Galiardi. McDonald broke his stick on the bench and on a later shift, slewfoot Logan Couture. The whistle goes to stop play and McDonald glides past Couture and sticks a leg out. Couture is caught on the back of the leg and goes down. No penalty was called on the play but it was definitely a dirty trip by McDonald and him trying to get retribution for the hit he took. Emotion

B.J. Crombeen takes a shoulder from Doug Murray as time winds down in the game and Daniel Winnik shoves Jamie Langenbrunner into the boards. Justin Braun then grabs Langenbrunner and both Barret Jackman and Roman Polak come in then. Crombeen pulls Braun away and drops a glove while Braun drops his but a linesman stays between them to keep them apart. Away from the crowd, Vladimir Sobotka pairs off with Dominic Moore and they drop the gloves. Sobotka takes Moore down quickly and lands a right. A linesman then comes in to break them up as Sobotka lands one more right on Moore. Sobotka then goes off the ice and does a bit of talking with the San Jose Sharks' bench. Jackman, Murray, Winnik, Langenbrunner, Polak, and Braun remain in the corner jostling in the pile with Braun throws a left at Langenbrunner. Polak then goes after Braun and drops the gloves. They move from the crowd and Polak unleashes a bunch of rights on Braun, landing some, and getting Braun down. The linesmen then break them up. Murray and Jackman trade a some punches while holding onto each other but neither gets in many. Winnik and Langenbrunner are broken up too and do some jawing with each other. Jackman and Murray then push apart and have do some jawing as well. Murray goes off with a cut on the bridge of his nose. Good brawl at the finish of this chippy playoff game. Fun

Daniel Winnik shoves Jamie Langenbrunner into the boards as time expires and Langebrunner grabs at Winnik afterwards. Other players pile in on them and they both wind up going to the ice. A linesman gets in between them and breaks them up but they come back together. Winnik drops his gloves but just holds onto Langenbrunner who gets his hand up in Winnik's face. Roman Polak and Justin Braun are also involved and then Braun lands a left on Langebrunner. That gets Polak after Braun and they scrap (a short but spirited tilt with Polak obviously wins). Winnik and Langebrunner grapple through a linesman and Winnik works Langenbrunner's helmet and visor off. The linesman stays between them and they are separated. Langebrunner and Winnik do some talking before they skate off the ice. Fun

Vladimir Sobotka clear win Fun
3
As the brawl begins after the horn goes to finish the game, Vladimir Sobotka pairs off with Dominic Moore in the slot area. They just hold onto each other until Sobotka lands a gloved right and drops his gloves right after. Sobotka lands a right as Moore drops his gloves and grabs onto Sobotka as he misses a right but then lands a left. Sobotka then takes Moore to the ice and lands a right after landing on top. Sobotka then gets to his feet but holds off on throwing at Moore who is angry and has some words for Sobotka. A linesman comes in to break them up and Sobotka lands one last right before letting go of Moore and skating off. The San Jose Sharks' bench is quite mad at Sobotka and they do some chirping as he skates off the ice. Not much of a fight but a definite win for Sobotka who jumped Moore to begin the scrap. He landed the only punches and actually broke Moore's nose in the fight. Moore never threw a punch.

Justin Braun clear win
Fight called Unfair by CHLfan on Apr 14, 2012
Reason: Justin Braun suckered Jamie Langenbrunner
 Fun
4
Braun grabs ahold of Langenbrunner by the nape of his jersey neck and starts pulling him away from Winnik. Polak is arm-jousting with Braun, trying to get his arms off Langenbrunner, but Braun wraps his right arm around Langenbrunner's head and pulls him back from Winnik a bit. Polak then gives Braun a small gloved cross and then a stronger one right to the face. Braun switches free hands and suddenly fires a left hand at Langenbrunner, appearing to catch him flush just under the visor. Polak then tries to get at Braun, shedding the gloves, and once Braun lets go of Langenbrunner, Polak just whales on him.

Justin Braun enters the brawl after getting broken up from B.J. Crombeen. Braun tries to get at Jamie Langenbrunner as he's held by Daniel Winnik. Roman Polak tries grabbing at Braun who suddenly lets fly with a left hand that connects right to Langenbrunner's head. Langenbrunner absorbs the punch decently and continues holding onto Winnik. Polak then grabs Braun and starts to fire punches away. Not much of a fight here but Braun did connect with a left on Langenbrunner during the brawl.

This should be labelled unfair. Langenbrunner was tied up with someone else and not even facing Braun who just suddenly punched him in the head.Reply

I don't know if this should be added as a fight. To me it was just part of the brawl.Reply

bare fisted punch thrown and connected. Definetly a fight on dyg, and its also important because it was what led to the polak beatdown of braun.Reply

Although borderline, I'd agree with calling this a fight. There's no doubt that there was an intent to fight by Braun. In addition, Braun clearly singled out and targeted Langenbrunner as opposed to just punching something in blue. To paraphrase, looked to me like Braun was personal rather than impersonal in this episode.

I would disagree with that but you have the final say so alright.

Roman Polak clear win Fun

A handful of players are involved in the brawl in the corner and Daniel Winnik has a hold of Jamie Langenbrunner. Justin Braun is grabbing at Langenbrunner too and lands a left on him. Roman Polak is angry about it and gets to Braun afterward. Braun turns his attention to Polak as he gets set and then unleashes a series of six rights, landing only one though. Braun just holds on and tries to dodge before trying to get back to his feet. Polak then unloads three more rights and lands two that knock Braun back down as he's trying to get up. Polak lands on top of Braun and is wrestled down by a linesman. Braun gets up with his face a bit marked up but is otherwise okay. Short, spirited, tilt and it was all Polak.

Everybody is engaged in the corner. Braun's gloves already off he grabs Langenbrunner from behind and starts trying to throw punches. None of them connect. Polak sees this and he grabs Braun to protect his teammate, Braun throws a punch at Polak but misses. Polak now realizes he is in a fight and just pummels Braun to the ice. Too much strength for Braun.

Draw Fun

Doug Murray and Barret Jackman pair off as the brawl begins but they just hold onto each other as other players get involved. Murray and Jackman both have the gloves off and watch as Daniel Winnik, Justin Braun, Jamie Langenbrunner, and Roman Polak scrum around. Then as Polak and Braun pair off, Murray and Jackman start wrestling. Murray throws a few weak rights and lands a couple before pausing. Jackman keeps a strong hold of Murray's arm and he cannot get free. Murray throws a few more weak rights as they wrestle and lands one more before Jackman lands a right to the body and gets Murray against the boards. A linesman then tries to break them up but Murray and Jackman wrestle a bit more before they push apart. They do some talking to each other and Murray has a small cut on the bridge of his nose. Draw in a very boring fight as both guys were tired and neither was very active.

Two tough veteran defensemen, Barret Jackman and Doug Murray pair off as the line brawl gets under way. They are certainly not the main event as the two men just hang onto each other and wrestle. In fact neither of them try to do anything until after the other two fights are finished. As the officials separate the other players, Murray lands two rights to the back of Jackman's head. They continue to wrestle and Murray misses with a weak right. Jackman connects with a shot to the body as they go against the glass. One of the referees comes over and tells them to separate which they do.

Both men landed a weak blow or two. However aside from that, the fight was just a boring wrestling match where the two hung on. They seemed tired out when this started and perhaps this is why they just held on. The fight is a draw and a bad one at that.
