Tough guys Joe Finley and Pierre-Cedric Labrie drop the gloves early in this game. These two men have met once before and this is a rematch. However their first fight was in the NHL while this one is in the AHL. These two fought right off the opening faceoff back on January 21st, 2013. Labrie was a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning while Finley was playing for the New York Islanders. The fight wasn't much as both men only landed a couple of blows before wrestling down to the ice. Both of these guys have only had a cup of coffee in the big league and now are back in the minors.

Finley is now with his 3rd AHL team (not counting a brief 7 game stint with Hershey back in 2010). He was originally drafted by the Washington Capitals in 2005. However he never really played with the Caps, instead playing in the ECHL with South Carolina. Finley suffered a serious injury requiring surgery as he ruptured an artery in his hand. Finley made a full recovery and would eventually receive an invitation to the Buffalo Sabres training camp.

The big man was signed to a contract and assigned to Buffalo's farm team in Rochester. Finley only got to play 5 games with the big team as he spent the better part of 2 years in Rochester. However the New York Islanders claimed him off waivers and inserted him into the lineup. It was during this stretch that Finley fought Labrie. Despite finishing out the year on Long Island, Finley would spend all of next season with their affiliate in Bridgeport. He then signed on with the Hamilton Bulldogs on an AHL contract.

Unlike Joe Finley, Pierre-Cedric Labrie was never drafted. However he did manage to sign a contract with Vancouver, spending the next 2 and a half seasons with their AHL affiliate in Manitoba. Labrie was then traded to St. Louis, so he suited up with their farm team in Peoria. Labrie would sign with his 3rd AHL team as he joined the Norfolk Admirals. Fortunately for him he was also offered a contract by their parent club in Tampa Bay. After spending the first year in Norfolk, Labrie split the next 3 between the minors and the AHL. However Tampa chose not to resign him so Labrie signed with Chicago as a free agent. Once again, he was assigned to the minors.

The rematch between these two is just as bad as their first fight. Both men shed the helmets and squareoff. Finley is the aggressor early on, throwing three rights as Labrie gets spun around. However none of the punches land. Finley does manage to connect with the next two rights before missing again. The two get in tight and wrestle. Labrie lands a right while in close. He lands a second short right before Finley loses his balance, going to the ice. Labrie goes down on top of him and that is it for the fight.

Finley threw more punches but he wasn't very accurate and they both landed the same amount. Both men connected with two punches apiece so I will score this fight an even draw.

Finley didn't land a single punch. Its just about a draw, but Labrie did land a couple so he get the narrow win

A minor scrum near the Bulldogs net, Brennan got involved in some pushing and shoving with Hudon and Thomas. Brennan got a minor for slashing, Thomas got a minor for roughing.Reply
