Wingels a bit hitted Cullen in the corner and Corrado came in and both dropped the gloves but it was only hugging and wrestling match along the boards, Wingels lost his helmet. Zebras came in and stopped this hugging match.

This is one of those events where it's tough to analyze. The event itself is simple. Crosby slashes Marc Methot as he advances the puck through the neutral zone; a play that ends up going offside. The slash from Crosby is, undoubtedly, a slash certainly good enough for a 2 minute penalty in the current standard of stick infractions in the league.

Methot voices his displeasure to #87 and removes his glove as he skates to the bench and shows his rather unpleasant bloodied finger. Certainly not a pretty sight and raises the question of was the slash by Crosby that hard or did it simply hit Methot in the wrong spot. I think it was a combination of both.

This comes on the heel of Crosby throwing a cheap groin shot on an unsuspecting Ryan O'Reilly a game ago against Buffalo. As well know, Crosby does not have a strong reputation, especially on this site, and in the NHL world of cheapshots/embellishments/complaining. This only adds fuel to that fire.

Let me be clear, I am not a Crosby fan by any stretch of the means. I respect his talent but despise his demeanor and attitude towards the game. Furthermore, I am not condoning his actions on this play - I think it should have been a 2 minute penalty. Having said that, I think the visible injury to Methot glorifies this situation.

We've seen this in a lot in terms of fighting. An unfortunate injury that leads to extra attention towards the event, but in this case it's a slash rather than a fight. It just so happens that the perpetrator in this situation is a marquee player with a history of this behavior.

I am on the fence about this one, Crosby has the reputation of being this type of player so automatically it's a dirty play, i sure don't think it was malicious on his part to hurt Methot but with that being said he was careless with his stick and busted up Methot's finger real bad, to me it should have been at least a 2 minute penalty call, this is todays NHL where even the star player are taking liberties with other players with no repercussions on or off ice. Dirty

From now on we're gonna add every slash on the hands as a cheap shot? You guys are softer than a wet kleenex.

No way this is dirty, let alone a 7.

What would Penguins do if someone would decide to mug Crosby after some of his cheap shot? He's a great player but quite dirty and a perfect example what kind of league is the todays NHL.Reply

Melnyuk is running that franchise into the ground. Needs to shut his mouth big time. Last week he spouted off about the Olympics and said some really dumb shit and alienated his franchise player in Karlsson. Now he's demanding a 10 game suspension.

Also don't forget: He's clearly meddling in hockey ops, making public statements about being open to trades and saying he's not willing to part with certain players. All this because he knows playoff revenue is critical to the senator's financial success...

Then there's the forensic evidence that Cooke intentionally skate cut Karlsson...

He's a fucking idiot and hurts his team more than he helps it.

after the whistle they pushed and showed infront of the Sens net, Smith was more active, he crosschecked and facewashed Crosby, he answered with one glovepunch to the Smith face, both zebras helded both but pushing and showing continued hardly. Phaneuf and Kessel pushed a showed behind the net too. Fun
