Iginla dominated this fight. Made himself look worth something. Love seeing the 19 year old Flames player fight and laugh it off as well. Fun

Matthew Tkachuk is a targeted player after getting suspended for a bad elbow on Los Angela's Kings' susperstar defenseman, Drew Doughty. There was a lot of chirping in the pregame warmups prior to the game where Tkachuk was in the middle of i, as were most of the tough guys on each team. Second shift into the game Tkachuk lives up beside Doughty's frequent defense partner, Jake Muzzin. Puck drops and Tkachuk shares right at Muzzin before dropping the gloves. Muzzin ignores Tkachuk and plays the puck. Tkachuk withholds from grabbing Muzzin and the pucks up his stick and gloves. Muzzin then had some words for Tkachuk as he went off to serve an unsportsmanlike minor. Fun

In the simplest of explanations, this is a rookie move by Tkachuk. All this hoopla, including the pre-game banter, about his hit on Doughty is only intensified - in my opinion - by the Kings being officially eliminated from the playoffs last night. Fuel to the fire. This is a divisional game and these teams will play each other plenty of times throughout Tkachuk's career.

Regardless, Tkachuk decides on his first shift that he wants to go with Jake Muzzin who looks at the rookie like he's nuts. Tkachuk is a good player and has the potential to be great in this league. And while I'm not sure I agree with Doughty's pregame comments about him being "a dirty, dirty player", this was not a strong answer to to criticism. Later in the game, Tkachuk drops the gloves with Brayden McNabb in a less than satisfying scrap.

Drew Doughty has 1 career fight and I wouldn't be surprised if he has his 2nd by the end of this game. I think he'll go with Tkachuk later in this game.

Brayden McNabb moves up to the wing to line up with Matthew Tkachuk for the faceoff after a Dougie Hamilton goal. The puck drops and McNabb and Tkachuk drop the gloves, finally settling matters. Tkachuk moves in quick and grabs on with McNabb who immediately leans away while missing a right. Tkachuk prods with the left while missing two rights of his own and then McNabb grabs Tkachuk's arm to stop the prodding. McNabb pushes Tkachuk back as Tkachuk misses a right, then Tkachuk loses his balance after McNabb misses a right. McNabb falls on top of Tkachuk and misses a right before the linesmen break them up. Afterwards Tkachuk gets up and angrily jaws at Drew Doughty who just ignores Tkachuk. A heated start to this game as Tkachuk's elbow on Doughty had tempers high. McNabb was the one who got the chance to go with Tkachuk after Jake Muzzin refused but this fight never got going and Tkachuk fell pretty quickly. Nothing landed here so call it a draw.

Not that good a fight here between these two. They dropped the gloves off the draw, with Tkachuk landing a few jersey jabs. McNabb then threw some punches and landed a couple after they went down. Can't see giving either player the win in this one - draw.

Tempers are high in this game after the Calgary Flames score and then Matthew Tkachuk fights Brayden McNabb. Tyler Tofolli mixes it up with Kris Versteeg at a faceoff and gets tangled up with Matt Bartkowski and the end of the shift behind the net. In front of the net Andy Andreoff gets after Lance Bouna and wants a fight. Andreoff drops the gloves and grabs Bouma but Bouma's gloves remain on. That brings in the linesmen and they pull Andreoff away as he has some words for Bouma. Fun

Jarome Iginla narrow win Fun
6
Deryk Engelland and Jarome Iginla had some words in the pregame warmups and early into the game so when Engelland finishes a hit on Anze Kopitar with Iginla on the ice, Iginla searches out Engelland and they drop the gloves. They square up and Engelland lunges in to get a grip with Iginla. Engelland misses a weak right as they grapple for position and Iginla misses a small right. They get space from each other and Iginla shoves a hand across Engelland's face but Engelland throws three small rights back, landing two. Iginla lowers his head but switches hands and they then open up. Engelland throws four overhand rights and lands one but Iginla throws seven lefts and lands four, one connecting cleanly while Engelland gets opened up over the eye. Engelland lowers his head and adjusts his grip on Iginla before throwing two overhand rights, one right underneath, and then two more overhand rights, landing three in total. Iginla gets in close in the meantime and presses Engelland to the glass. Iginla switches hands while they wrestle and misses a right over the top as Engelland shakes his elbow pad off. Engelland gets off the boards and lands three rights to the helmet and visor as Iginla wraps an arm around Engelland's head to keep him in close. Iginla gets Engelland's head low and switches hands again, throwing four short, sweeping, lefts and landing two. Iginla then gets the helmet off of Engelland and misses another short left. They wrestle and so the linesmen wade in but the Engelland lifts his head and misses an over the top right after Iginla misses a left underneath and the fight's broken up there. Pretty good tilt between one of the league's best fighters in Engelland and the veteran power forward in Iginla. Iginla gets a big win here, he bloodied Engelland and gets the edge for connecting better. Credit to Iginla, he's much older than the bigger and more experienced fighter in Engelland but there was no hesitation on Iginla's part to get involved in a rough game.

Deryk Engelland hit Anze Kopitar behind the Flames' goal. As play moved up the ice, Engelland's former teammate (from the 12-13 Pens) Jarome Iginla skated over and had something to say about it. The two then dropped their gloves and squared off. Engelland then lunged and the two grabbed hold of each other. The two then wrestled for a bit, each trying to get an arm free. Engelland gets things started with a right then hit Iginla, then another right which missed. Then simultaneously the two threw 4 consecutive punches at each other. Iginla threw lefts, Engelland rights. In that sequence, Iginla tagged Engelland with a hard left, and Engelland then stopped throwing briefly. Iginla threw two more lefts, hitting Engelland once more. Engelland then threw 5 consecutive rights, appearing to land 2 of them. Now up against the boards, Iginla responded with a right that didn't connect. The two then grapple a bit, and Iginla throws another right that missed. Engelland then answered with a right to the side of Iginla's head. The two then moved away from the boards, and Engelland threw two more rights to the side of Iginla's head. Iginla would then throw 5 more lefts, appearing to land 2. The linesmen then began to move in, and Iginla threw one more left that hit Engelland, and Engelland answered with one more right thrown at Iginla, who had already began skating away because of the linesmen. I scored this fight as a draw. It was a pretty good match between two very tough players. Iginla landed the biggest punch of the fight, cutting Engelland open, but overall it was an even match.

A game which even before the opening puck drop had some intensity to it as during warmups we had a few guys yapping to each other. Deryk Engelland takes Anze Kopitar into the boards behind the Kings net to which Jarome Iginla has something to say to Engelland coming back up ice and they drop the gloves. Both guys size each other up before grabbing on, bit of a struggle early on as they feel each other a bit with Engelland trying to get his right hand free. He eventually does and Iginla responds with some lefts. While ducking a shot, Engelland gets a right upper cut in and Iginla pins him to the boards.

Iginla locks Engelland down and they dance for a bit with Iginla getting in some shots to the back of the head pulling Engelland's helmet off. He was getting off a couple more shots before they both tired and the linos break it up. Engelland was cut and bleeding and it looked like Iginla had a scrape on the left side of his face as well. I rate this a solid draw with both guys landing evenly. Iginla to me is the consummate hockey player and teammate willing to get in there against anybody to stick up for someone. He maybe at the end of his career as far as production on the scoreboard, but I would take this guy any day on my team as far as leadership and toughness.

Very nice fight here between these two. Both players landed some decent punches at various stages of the fight. They both landed about the same, so give them each a well-earned draw. You have to give props to Iginla for taking on one of the tougher Flames in Engelland.

Iggy takes exception to a hit on star player and challenges right away. After a square off they engage with Engelland landing a soft punch and missing another. Iggy gets his left going throwing five shots, 2 land directly with one being a hard shot and the other glancing off the side of the head. Engelland is responding but either misses or is tied up too well to land a good shot. The get back and grapple a while with nuggie head shots landing with little power ( in the process Iggy gets Engelland's helmet off). During he tie up the linesmen use the opportunity to step in and stop the fight. As they separate it is apparent that Engelland is badly cut badly above his eye and bleeding pretty good. Ivy's sweater has lots of blood on it but none of it appears to be his. Iggy had the harder shots , cut him and got his helmet off. Win Iggy IMO.

Decent fight with a nice exchange of blows early on before it becomes more of a wrestling match, both land some good shots in the 1st half and it's very close, late in the bout Iginla lands a couple lefts from in close before the linesmen come in, Iginla landed a bit more and busted Engelland up pretty good so the narrow win goes to Iginla.

Nothing but admiration and respect for Jarome Iginla. Thirty-nine years old and going to the Hall-of-Fame but still fighting. And look at the card: Tom Wilson, Cody McLeod, Pat Maroon, and now he bloodied Deryk Engelland. That's four guys about as tough as they come in today's NHL. Likely never see that again.

This game is very testy and both clubs have a few guys who don't mind going.

Iggy is also one of the last dinosaurs in this pussified league. He was a junior star in early 90's WHL and came in to the NHL in the mid 90's when the league was a warzone. Those were really different times and tough leagues. Hopefully Iggy still have few years in him cause he's a perfect example for the young kids.Reply

Gordie Howe hattrick also for Iginla.

As a sidenote I have to say that Iginla is probably a top10 fighter in todays NHL. This is a clear draw against one of the leagues last heavyweights who have played at the era of the superheavyweights

Matthew Tkachuk hits Drew Doughty and later in the shift Doughty gets the puck heading up ice and crossing through the neutral zone. Tkachuk sees Doughty coming up and lines up a hit on him but Doughty loses his balance just a moment before he arrives at Tkachuk. Tkachuk lunges at Doughty, leaving the air while going sideways to hit Doughty with the shoulder. With Doughty falling, only Tkachuk's hip skims Doughty as he goes down and Tkachuk lands heavily on the ice. Doughty gets up ignoring the hit but Andy Andreoff takes issue with Tkachuk's try anyways. Fun

Tkachuk takes yet another run at Drew Doughty and misses him, partly because Drew lost an edge. Andreoff immediately comes over and shoves Tkachuk, while asking him to go. Tkachuk falls to the ice like he got hit by a tank and quickly exits the skirmish. The refs continue to protect the young punk and give Andreoff 2, 10 and a game. I'm sure if Andreoff knew that would be the punishment, he would have teed off a bit Fun

Andy Andreoff takes exception to Matthew Tkachuk's attempted hit on Drew Doughty and grabs Tkachuk when he gets off the ice after landing hard following the miss. Tkachuk wants no part of Andreoff though so Andreoff just grabs Tkachuk and pulls his helmet and visor off while a linesman rushes in to break them up. Andreoff then shoves Tkachuk to the ice, Tkachuk embellishing it, and a small crowd gathers. Tkachuk was in the middle of a lot of stuff tonight while Andreoff tried to get a couple things going but was refused both times. Fun

I think tkachuk might have been hurt from bracing for impact but doughty pulled a bitch move and went down early to send him flying . I doubt he's scared of andreoff that's for sure .
That kid has balls of steal . Doughty on the other hand is letting tkachuk push him around lol.

Exciting game but it's too bad the refs are calling so many penalties and ruining it , that's today's NHL I guess . All we can hope for is the game to get out of hand and things to get nasty .

This is as good of a game as it gets in today's NHL . We can call tkachuk what we want but he single handedly made this a very exciting game lol
