Cody McLeod narrow win Fun
4
Cody McLeod and Matt Hendricks bump into each other and the gloves come off. They latch on and grapple and McLeod lands a left across the top of the helmet while trying to get loose. Hendricks adjusts his grip and then misses a right as McLeod lands a right. McLeod misses a right as they get separation from each other and then Hendricks misses a right while McLeod misses a right. Hendricks misses a right and the momentum of it carries him to the ice with McLeod missing a right on Hendricks' way down. Hendricks bounces back up with McLeod throwing two rights and landing one to the side of the head. McLeod moves in close on Hendricks who tries to maintain some separation and misses a left. They wrestle around and McLeod misses a right before Hendricks ducks under McLeod's arm to get outside after missing a right. Hendricks then misses a right as McLeod misses a right and when Hendricks pushes forward, McLeod is forced backward and loses his balance. They hit the ice and the linesmen break them apart with Hendricks bloodied badly around the eye and needing some repairs. Give McLeod the win for doing some damage here and landing more punches.

Cody McLeod narrow win Fun

Hendricks challenges McLeod near the Jets' blue line and McLeod accepts to fight him. They drop their mitts and come together right away. McLeod lands a soft partial blow with the left and then switches hands resulting in him landing a decent right as Hendricks let up on a punch of his. McLeod misses a right and Hendricks lands a right and they then both miss a right. McLeod misses a right and Hendricks falls to his knees as he loses his balance but he pops right back up. McLeod lands a short helmet blow and misses a right. They spin around and miss a couple of attempts at short punches. Hendricks then misses a right, McLeod misses a right and Hendricks misses a right. McLeod tries to cock back a punch but loses his balance in doing so and he falls on his back. Hendricks misses a short punch and falls on top of McLeod. The linesmen get in there and break up the fight and the two bloodied players skate to their benches.

This fight is in between a narrow win and a clear win for McLeod. At first glance, it seems as though he did not land any big punch but then Hendricks was clearly bloodied from one of the first punches thrown by McLeod. Hendricks only landed a couple of okay blows. However, I will only give McLeod the narrow win because he did not overland Hendricks by all that much. Average fight in my opinion because of the energy and the blood but could be considered as a below-average fight.

I just loved it! These two veterans were talking and pushing each others threw the whole game so fight wasn't surprise after McLeods hit. Hendricks came straight to McLeod after the penalty was over. Both landed couple of good ones. I was a bit surprised how it ended. Good for Hendricks.

Very nice fight here between these two. Hendricks put the tap on McLeod, who was more than happy to oblige. This fight was fairly even until Hendricks threw a punch that stunned Cody and knocked him to his knees. Give Matt the TKO win in this one.

Hendricks went after McLeod the moment McLeod came out of the sin bin for a hit (albeit clean imo) to a Jets d-man who was caught admiring his drop pass a few shifts earlier. McLeod owned the first half of the fight with several unanswered rights. I admire that fact that Hendrick fell mid-fight but got right back up before the zebras could step in. That's when Hendricks started to even up the fight. Good fight by both combatants, but that last punch by Hendricks hit McLeod square in the bugle and put an end to the fight. Not a classic but worth watching the game just for that fight imo.

Edit - New angle shows Hendrick's TKO punch wasn't really a TKO punch according to the Winnipeg feed. Revising my review to narrow win McLeod.

This is a typical Hendricks fight . A lot of heart and swinging wildly but still lose . Cody had control most of the fight and cut Matt above the eye ! Hendricks got in a glancing blow that threw Cody off balance and down to the ice but it was not a TKO.

Am I the only one that is not sure about that being a TKO? Seems to me that McLeod fell to the ice a few seconds after being tagged.Reply

I contemplated this as well. But in the end I think that Hendricks' punch buckled McLeods knees and it was just a delayed reaction before he hit the ice. In the end it was more than likely the punch that was responsible for McLeod hitting the ice, not to mention the blood-stained ice and jersey! Keep up the good reviews JagrBombs!

Yes I see where these TKO calls come from, I'm just not sure if I share the same opinion! Thanks for the kind words!Reply

I've watched it over 100x and I get where you're coming from. The punch definitely lands and does damage, but the camera view isn't the best and McLeod losing his footing seemed delayed. It's definitely more of a knock down than a tko, but not sure how to call it as McLeod was winning up until that point.Reply

I agree completely. Folks should watch that angle in slow-motion. It's not a 100% no-doubter but it's pretty clear, to me at least, that the Matt Hendricks punch misses and even if it did land, it didn't drop Cody McLeod.

I really don't believe this is a TKO and with McLeod getting the better punches in and bloodying Hendricks, I think it's rightfully his win.
