Ron Hainsey narrow win Fun
2
Tim Schaller belts Mitch Marner when he goes back for a loose puck in the corner. Ron Hainsey is following the play and looking to stick up for his young teammate and provide a spark for his team, drops the gloves immediately with Schaller. They latch onto each other in tight and wrestle about with Schaller landing two rights to the helmet and visor of Hainsey. Hainsey then throws three rights, landing two while wrestling Schaller to the ice and the linesmen rush in and break it up. Really bad fight here and only roughings were called, no majors. Edge Hainsey for landing better punches.

Schaller didn't look like he wanted to go but was forced into it. Hainsey was looking to send a message about going after Marner but I don't think he had much nastiness behind it. Both guys pretty much just showed up but neither looked particularly fired up.Reply

Is it possible there's been some notice sent out to everyone in the league that anyone who fights in the playoffs will get extra fines or punishment or something? The reason I ask is this...been watching a lot of playoffs this year, I see these huge hits, and I'm waiting for someone to come flying in with the gloves off just like this. Nothing. Even Chara just stood there and said "doooOOOOOoooon't!" when he watched Kadri smash his teammate's head into the boards.

So here we have it, the first legit fight of the playoffs, and the ref gives them minors instead? (I wonder, was he saving them from whatever the extra punishment was, knowing that handing out fighting majors may have meant harsher penalties for them?)
