Anthony Peluso is called up by the Calgary Flames for this meeting with the Edmonton Oilers and after Milan Lucic belts Travis Hamonic with a tough hit, Peluso skates over to challenge Lucic. Lucic ignores it initially but Peluso grabs onto Lucic who eventually drops the gloves with Peluso. A linesman tries to get in but they wrestle away from him and then Lucic throws two rights, landing one on the body. Peluso gets separation in the meantime and then misses two rights before Lucic misses a right. Lucic then lands a right to the body before Peluso lands a right to the side of the head. Then Lucic jersey jabs as Peluso misses a right and Lucic misses a right afterwards as Peluso leans away. Peluso's helmet and visor falls off while Lucic misses another right but then the linesmen come in. Lucic puts his head down and Peluso misses a right. Peluso is upset with the linesmen about their intervention in the fight but it's over and both guys skate into the box. Draw in a fight that didn't get going between two heavyweights.

Anthony Peluso narrow win Fun

Lucic finishes his forecheck hard on Hamonic and sends him to the ice with a rocking hit. A few seconds later, Peluso come in and they grab each other, exchange a few words, and then decide to go. They drop their gloves and a linesman tries to break them up but goes away finally. Lucic throws two body shots and Peluso misses with an overhand right twice before Lucic misses a straight right of his own. Lucic then misses a jab, throws a body shot again and lands a jab. Peluso lands a decent helmet shot and a very good straight right as Lucic lands a jab. Lucic then misses a right, a jab, and lands a partial right. They take a little break and the linesmen jump in to break up the fight as Peluso was firing a right that eventually missed.

I go against everybody here on that call, but I give the win to Peluso. He landed the two best punches of the fight, and I don't think the last punch from Lucic landed. Peluso also landed a beauty of a right to Lucic's mouth that went unnoticed and a helmet shot, whereas Lucic only landed his body shots and one jab. It is a narrow win however, since Peluso only landed two punches which is not a big margin in his favor.

The Refs did a horrendous job with two of the league's only remaining heavyweights starting to clash. Peluso challenges Lucic, who decides the time is right to drop them. Lucic starts out digging with 2 body shots while Peluso struggles to shake his right free. Peluso tries an overhand right that Lucic avoids, and then tries a follow up that misses, and Lucic misses a right of his own in return. Lucic then lands another light body shot, and Peluso fires an overhand right that catches the left side of Lucic's helmet. Lucic then lands a jersey jab, & as he switches hands, jerks Peluso closer and Peluso's helmet goes flying just before Lucic lands a glancing blow. The linsemen, seeing the helmet fly off, decide to break this one up early. This seemed like a Richard Steele stoppage to most fans, as everyone was disappointed it was broken up so soon. Lucic landed most of the punches, and gets the narrow "W" here.

This fight looked like it was going to be awesome. Lucic was just about to get going he lands a really good one then the refs jump in? Peluso was pissed and I don't blame him. I can't believe it why couldn't they both throw 1 more punch each and catch the linesman and put him out for a month. Maybe they will think twice before breaking up a fight while they are both just getting going.... hope they go again.

Awful fight considering the two. This had the potential to be a good one but the refs came in too early. They clearly had a lot left in the tank. Lucic lands more in the short time they were allowed to throw punches and gets the narrow win

Great potential, Peluso and Lucic did everything they were supposed - Lucic throwing a big hit, Peluso responding to spark his team, both guys throwing down, but the linesmen broke it up waaaay too early. Edge Lucic I guess since he got the best shot in but Peluso clearly had more to give if the fight hadn't been broken off so its a shame to label this as a loss for him.

What a shame the linesman had to jump in, these two square up and land a few shots with nothing really landing of significance. Draw at best between these two

That is such bs. Let them go or stop them before they drop the gloves. the NHLPA has got to address this crap. Next CBA make this a demand or they go on lockout. I am so fed up with this I want to fight!Reply

This may be the last heavyweight tilt we could see in the NHL and the damn linesmen had to jump in prematurely to ruin it. Peluso is one of the few guys still playing who could give Lucic a run for his money. It's a shame he didn't get the opportunity.Reply

I agree i think that was it as far as the real heavyweights go, one of these times i want to see a linesman step in prematurely as one of these guys is throwing a hard punch and get knocked the fuck out.

Wile I agree with everyone that the refs stepped in prematurely, why is the highlighted review from the only guy who gave this fight to Peluso? There is no way anyone can convince me that Peluso won, especially when he himself acknowledge after the fight that he was mad that the refs broke it up after he had taken a few shots and not gotten a chance to respond. He was mad, and expressed his frustration in his postgame interview.Reply

A draw I think is a fair call too if bodyshots don't impress you. But It's my opinion that a call for Peluso is ridiculous.
