There's some commotion at the benches but at centre there's a fight between Adam McQuaid and Ryan Reaves. They square off and grab on with the left. Reaves throws two rights and connects with one, McQuaid misses a right in reply, then Reaves lands a right. Reaves and McQuaid miss rights at the same time and Reaves misses two rights afterwards. McQuaid misses two rights while jersey jabbing Reaves and then Reaves tries to push McQuaid away and get him turned around. McQuaid throws two rights and lands one, then after Reaves misses a right, McQuaid misses a right while his helmet and visor falls off his head. Reaves misses a right, McQuaid misses a right in response, then Reaves throws three rights and lands one. McQuaid leans away with his head low and shakes his elbow pad off while Reaves then throws three more rights and lands one while having his helmet fall from his head. McQuaid then tries to raise his head while missing a right but Reaves lands a right at the same time and then Reaves lands a right as McQuaid misses a right. McQuaid gets knocked to the ice and Reaves misses a right following McQuaid down. Really good scrap between two tough guys. Both were throwing big but Reaves was the aggressor throughout and took over in the end, putting McQuaid down for the TKO. |

Very good fight here between these two. They dropped the gloves at center ice and each started throwing big rights. Reaves had the size and reach advantage, so he had the edge throughout, being able to land better shots. The last bomb dropped McQuaid to the ice to end it. Give Reaves the TKO win in this one. |

Good fight with both guys throwing rights with ill intent, both throw a lot but both miss many, Reaves is doing a bit better then open up late landing some unanswered shots before closing the fight with a crushing blow that sends McQuiad to the ice, TKO win Reaves. |

Both fighters exchanging punches but it didn't seem like a lot was landing until the big over hand right by Reaves...but that was enough to drop McQuaid |

Animal Jan 9 03:36 ET | This kind of heavyweight fights are very rare in todays NHL where both fighters are willing and capable to throw some solid punches. The level of fighting ability has never been lower in NHL than today. Most of the players are young and skinny marathon runner look-a-likes and have never fought in their lives on or off the ice. | Reply |
6025 Jan 9 03:50 ET | It's good seeing it but your right it's rarer and rarer. Reaves seems to be by some distance still one of the best fighters in the league. | Reply |
Animal Jan 9 09:19 ET | It would be interesting to see how Brendan Lemieux, Ross Johnston or Ben Harpur would handle against Reaves. Although Lemieux is dick like his father he's still quite tough by todays standards. Harpur doesn't have much history as a fighter but he's been quite good so far although his opponents are mostly light or middleweights. | Reply |

The one tilt I would like to see is against Lucic but that would have been a closer tilt a couple of years ago. Reaves throws heavy bombs. | Reply |
lilburtis9363 Jan 9 11:11 ET | I was hoping we'd see Johnston and Reaves at least once but Johnston was scratched for friggen Buttercup. It's a shame guys like Peluso, Prout, A/B Gallant, MacDermid, Liambas and others are buried in minors. Brett Gallant would definitely be a test for Reaves. | Reply |
