 EC 2768 fight reviews 1 fight log Jun 7, 2009 19:18 ET | Draw | Fun 4 |
Rob Ray is trying to draw Matt Johnson into a penalty. Ray follows Johnson around and grabs Johnson's stick. Johnson shoves Ray who won't let go. Johnson then gives Ray a gloved punch. Still no penalty has been called. Johnson begins to skate away but Ray pursues him and jabs him with his stick. Johnson turns around and they begin to fight.
The 2 grapple. Johnson tries to get his right free while Ray lands a right to the side of Johnson's head. Johnson throws 2 uppercuts that don't connect. Ray misses with a overhand right and Johnson throws one at Ray that connects. The 2 go to their knees with Johnson missing with another right. Ray misses with a right and the 2 lose their balance and hit the ice.
The 2 did more stumbling and missing punches then anything else. Neither man got an edge so I will call this fight a draw. |

| Rob Ray mixes it up with Matt Johnson in the game's opening few minutes, Ray grabbing at Johnson who throws a couple gloved rights back. They break apart but Ray pursues Johnson and they drop the gloves and lock up in tight. They wrestle around for a little early on and Johnson misses a weak right. Ray lands a right and Johnson throws two rights, landing one. They pause and then Ray misses a right and is pulled down by Johnson. Johnson misses a right while Ray is down and Ray also misses a right before getting up. Johnson gets turned around as Ray gets on the outside and Ray misses a right as Johnson slips down to his knees. Ray is brought down to the ice too and Johnson throws two rights, landing one with the linesmen jumping in as both guys are down. Pretty bad fight. Draw as only a few punches landed and nothing landed well. |

| Short bout with both of them tumbling all over the place. Ray was trying to get in close and landed one, but missed several wild swings. Johnson got a few in as well, mainly right uppercuts on a stumbling Ray, but they kept falling down and the linesmen break it up before anything else happens. |

| Ray wants a piece of Johnson and they drop the gloves. They both swing wildly and uneffectively. Neither guy landed anything big and missed most of their punches. Not a great fight. |

Johnson landed more and he controlled smaller Ray. Johnson was stronger. Ray landed one right at the start. Johnson took over and looks landing an uppercut. His another attempt looks hitting too but not sure(it seems hitting to the helmet of Ray). But he got Rayzor down to the ice and throws two, one landing at least. Edge Johnson. |

 EC 2768 fight reviews 1 fight log Jun 7, 2009 19:06 ET | Paul Kruse narrow win | Fun 4 |
Dominik Hasek misplays the puck behind the net which results in a quick scoring chance for the Kings. They fail to score but Steve McKenna falls on top of Dominik Hasek and he isn't in any hurray to get off. Bob Boughner and Paul Kruse come over to try and escort him away and its Kruse that ends up dropping the gloves with McKenna.
McKenna is at a disadvantage as he lost his helmet before the fight started. Kruse lands 2 quick rights to the ear of McKenna. Kruse fires a body shot before landing another punch to the side of McKenna's head. Kruse continues to throw rights but they all hit McKenna's shoulder. McKenna finally throws a right but it does not land. He then falls down and Kruse throws one more punch at him while they are on the ice.
Kruse landed the only punches to win the fight. |

| McKenna falls on Hasek, so Kruse zooms in to do something about it. He throws a quick flurry of rights, landing some on McKenna's ear. He tries a second flurry of rights on a twisting McKenna, but all of them hit his shoulder harmlessly. McKenna finally attempts a punch, but doesn't land it, and he falls down. Kruse adds a few more rights for good measure once they're on the ice. |

 EC 2768 fight reviews 1 fight log Jan 24, 2009 16:19 ET | Sean O'Donnell decisive win | Fun 7 |
Varada gives O'Donnell a tap downstairs with his stick. Predictably O'Donnell goes back at Varada smacking him with a gloved left which knocks Varada's helmet off. Varada turns around and the 2 look at each other for a moment and O'Donnell charges Varada. He grabs him and lands a big left as Varada is getting his gloves off. O'Donnell then just tees off on Varada as he pulls the jersey over his head and pumps him with several rights before the linesmen rush in to stop the massacre. Varada is bleeding from the nose and he has a cut on the bridge of his nose as well.
Decisive win O'Donnell as Varada clearly needed to be saved by the linesmen. |
 chrisY2J 1187 fight reviews Jul 12, 2012 23:11 ET | Sean O'Donnell decisive win | Fun 6 |
Vaclav Varada and Sean O'Donnell are cruising down the ice side by side near the boards. Varada gives a slash to the midsection of O'Donnell. This infuriates O'Donnell, who goes right after the Sabre agitator.
O'Donnell smacks Varada in the side of the head with a gloved punch, knocking Vaclav's helmet off. Varada turns around to face O'Donnell, who does not hesitate. O'Donnell tosses the gloves aside and drills Varada in the nose with a hard left hand just as Vaclav is getting his gloves off. Varada is instantly hurt and pitches forward. O'Donnell then yanks the sweater partly over Varada's head and begins throwing rapid rights.
The King cranks Varada with about a half-dozen punches before the linesmen leap in and stop the beating. Both men get sent to the dressing rooms. Varada's nose is pouring blood and he needs repairs. O'Donnell earned a heap of penalty minutes and is banished.
This was definitely a decisive win for O'Donnell, as Varada was hurt and had to be saved by the officials. It was a mugging, though, close to being unfair. |

EC 2768 fight reviews 1 fight log Feb 16, 2009 14:43 ET | Ian Laperriere narrow win Fight called Unfair by EC on Feb 16, 2009 Reason: Too much interference by the refs | Fun 3 |
When Kruse goes after Norstrom, Laperriere quickly rushes to his defense. He comes flying in after Kruse just as the linesman tries to separate Kruse and Norstrom. He then holds Kruse which gives Laperriere the opportunity to throw 3 rights at Kruse. The punches hit Kruse's helmet and he is forced to duck down before the other linesman grabs Laperriere and prevents him from doing anything else. A big scrum then develops.
Laperriere gets the win in an unfair fight for being the only one to get any punches in. |

EC Jan 25, 2009 19:39 ET | Why would a few punches to the helmet count as punches that land? | Reply |
mullet Jan 26, 2009 03:56 ET | Well if someone lands punches on other guys helmet of course that should count as punches landed, no matter how weak the punches were. I'm not saying Laperriere deserves a win for the few weak helmetshots, I called it a draw as well, Lappy landed a few but the punches were too weak to give him the win | Reply |

Lappy only hit the side of Kruse's helmet and since he did not make contact with Kruse's face I don't say the punches landed. | Reply |

EC 2768 fight reviews 1 fight log Feb 16, 2009 15:02 ET | The Sabres are out looking for revenge after O'Donnell hammered Varada. Kruse throws a gloved punch at Norstrom and he goes after him. Laperriere rushes to Norstrom's defence and Ray smacks Boucher in the head and knocks his helmet off. Ray grabs Boucher and everyone choices a partner. Kruse and Laperriere are separated and Ray wants at Norstrom badly. He is held away by Boucher but Ray has some unkind words for him and he even takes time to flip of one of the Kings! Unfortunately no real fighting came out of this but still an entertaining scrum. | Fun 4 |
