Scott Walker and Cale Hulse go up the ice together and when a whistle halts play, Walker drops the gloves and grabs Hulse but Hulse declines to drop the gloves himself. Hulse tries to back up but can't get free from Walker who holds back from throwing a punch. The linesmen come in and break up Walker from Hulse. Walker is upset and has some words for Hulse as other players come in and pair off, including Ed Ward and Steve Staios. Fun

Staios and Ward decided to go. Steve missed a punch and landed an average right. Ed missed two punches and landed a decent blow. Staios landed a partial connect and missed two shots. Ward landed a partial connect and missed two punches. He landed a partial connect and missed a couple of shots. Steve missed two punches and landed a decent blow. He landed an average shot and the men clinched. The refs stopped the fight.

I rate this as a draw. Both men landed a few blows. Staios may have landed with slightly better pop, but it wasn't enough to secure the win.

Ed Ward and Steve Staios pair off after meeting up during a stoppage in play. Soon, Ward and Staios have their gloves off and grapple towards centre ice. Staios throws four rights and lands one while Ward throws two rights and lands one after. Then they get in close and Ward gets Staios' helmet off. They wrestle and Staios lands two rights. Ward lands two rights and then Staios misses two rights while they wrestle. Ward throws five rights, landing three and then they move to the penalty boxes, still wrestling. Staios throws five rights and lands one as they get separation from each other. Ward gets back in close and then they just resume wrestling. The linesmen step in and break it up. Average fight in my book. Draw.

McCarthy and Brashear drop the gloves with one another behind the play and square off near centre ice. After a few seconds of sizing each other up the come together close to the boards and tie each other up in a clinch. Both guys pull each others helmet off before starting to throw some short punches at each other. Brashear gets in a few fast left hands on McCarthy early on before McCarthy slips his head out of his jersey and holds on tight to Brashear.

McCarty then starts to land some short left hands to the back of Brashear's head throwing sixteen in all, at the same time Brashear was throwing short punches at McCarthy with both hands. They then tie up again and hold onto each other for a second or two so the lino's decide to come in and end the fight.

This fight was fought from the clinch with McCarthy landing more punches but Brashear landing the better quality of punches. I'm calling this one a draw.

Draw.

Vancouver Canucks' enforcer, Donald Brashear gets involved with Calgary Flames' tough guy, Sandy McCarthy going up the ice and they decide to drop the gloves. The two square off at centre ice and they get a grip of each other's sweaters in tight. McCarthy lands a right and Brashear gets McCarthy's helmet off, then misses a left as McCarthy gets Brashear's helmet off. Brashear misses a left before McCarthy throws four rights and lands two. Brashear misses a left and then they exchange. Brashear throws four lefts and lands two and McCarthy throws seven rights and lands three. Then Brashear connects with a right and throws four lefts after, landing three. McCarthy lands a right and then has his jersey come off. They wrestle and McCarthy lands two rights before throwing five rights and landing three as Brashear throws three rights and lands one. Brashear lands a left and then misses a left as McCarthy lands a right. McCarthy lands a right and then they exchange. McCarthy lands six rights while Brashear lands six lefts, then Brashear lands two rights. McCarthy misses a right before connecting with a right as Brashear lands a right. Brashear then misses a right as McCarthy lands a right and then McCarthy throws three rights after and lands two. Brashear throws three lefts and lands one and then McCarthy misses a left before the linesmen step in the fight is finished. Brashear and McCarthy spent the whole fight in tight and did a lot of wrestling but they each threw a ton punches at each other and both landed the great majority of the them. None were effective but I thought it was still a pretty entertaining tilt between these two good heavyweights. Draw.

This was a lengthy and competitive scrap. Brashear landed a partial connect and missed a left hand. McCarthy missed several rights and landed a partial connect. Donald missed a punch, landed three average blows, and missed a left hand. He landed an average right.

The Sandman landed two decent shots and missed a few rights. Brashear landed an average blow, landed a decent shot, and missed a left hand. McCarthy missed a punch, landed a decent blow, and missed a shot. Donald landed an average blow, missed a punch, and landed an average connect.

Sandy missed a shot and landed an average blow. He missed several punches and landed a couple of decent connects. Brashear missed a punch and landed a decent blow. He missed two left hands. He landed two average punches, missed a punch, and landed an average right.

McCarthy landed a decent blow, missed a shot, landed a decent connect, and missed a shot. He landed two decent blows. Brashear missed two lefts. Sandy missed a final right. The refs stopped the bout.

I rate this as a narrow win for Brashear. I think he landed with better pop and he landed a few more along the way. It was a very close and competitive contest.

Brashear early grabs the back of McCarthy jeresy and pulls it up and starts firing. Then they tie up and Brashear lands a good group of rapide punches. Then they start going back and forth with shots to the back of the head McCarthy lands 5-6 unansewrd then again they start going back and forth.

I don't believe this is a draw. Brashear threw more and landed more than McCarthy. It is true that many of Brashear's punches landed on the back of McCarthy's head, but a few of them landed nicely on the side of his face. I think Brashear is warranted the win here.

Zdeno rewiewed the wrong fight, the fight, where Brashear runs away, is the fight from 95-96. In this fight the linesmen separate them.Reply

Behind the play Bryan McCabe and Chris Dingman drop the the gloves. They grab onto each others' jerseys and McCabe misses a right and then ducks, missing a left as Dingman lands a right. Dingman gets his right arm out of his jersey and loses his elbow pad. Dingman misses two rights and McCabe goes to a knee but gets up. Dingman misses a right and then knocks McCabe over. The linesmen come in and break it up despite McCabe trying to continue the fight. A bad fight and a definite draw.

Dingman threw only punches, however didn't look like anything connected, maybe one glancing shot to the helmet but that's it. Fight barely lasted 6 seconds before Dingman took McCabe down. Shit draw.

Todd Bertuzzi narrow win Fun

On the ensuing faceoff following the Bryan McCabe and Chris Dingman fight, Aaron Gavey hits Dave Scatchard against the boards. Todd Bertuzzi comes in then and grabs Gavey and the two drop the gloves. They wrestle around and Bertuzzi then stands back and throws two rights, landing one. Gavey gets his left hand up to block and Bertuzzi misses a right. Bertuzzi's helmet falls off and then Bertuzzi throws four rights, landing two as Gavey tries to get his right out of his jersey. Bertuzzi gets in close and gets Gavey's head down. Bertuzzi just holds Gavey there and as they drift towards the fight between Jamie Allison and Enrico Ciccone, the linesmen get in and break up Gavey and Bertuzzi. Gavey didn't throw a punch in this scrap. Bertuzzi threw a bunch of right and landed a few to get the edge.
