55McQuaid established that he was at least an average NHL fighter early on in his career. His competition level was modest. He fought Oroskovic, Oreskovich, Bodie, and Segal. He proved he had a pretty good punch and knew how to use his reach. He had a pretty basic style. He could make adjustments on occasion, but he wasn't any great strategist. He kept a guy at the end of his reach and did some tit-for-tat boxing.Trying to get McQuaid to open up was a good option. He liked to get a guy at the end of his long wingspan. He had good fighting stamina, so just extending a fight wouldn't be sufficient to gain an edge.
