Jim Schoenfeld narrow win Fun
3
Schultz and Schoenfeld had a brief battle behind the net. Dave missed a right hand. Jim got Schultz in a headlock and landed a solid right. Schultz did some hair pulling and Schoenfeld was wrestling on the inside. The refs stepped in as Dave was pulling hair for the second time.

I rate this as a narrow win for Schoenfeld. I watched several replays and it looked like Jim landed one solid right. I think the blow was effective enough to earn the win. Schultz spent too much time hair pulling and not enough punching in this one.

Rick Dudley clear win Fun

One of the linesmen escorts Dave Schultz off the ice following his altercation as Kelly and Dudley shed the gloves and start to grapple in the corner. The referee comes over and tries to play peacemaker but to no avail. The two players spin in a circle and Kelly connects with a right to the head. They go toe-to-toe with rights and Dudley lands a couple to the melon causing Kelly to duck down and miss his punches. Dudley lands to the back and mauls Kelly to the ice. He quickly gets up and the slugfest continues. Dudley lands a few to the back of the head and swings Kelly around toward the boards. Both land well in a great exchange with Kelly tossing some solid uppercuts and Dudley landing some heavy rights to the left side of Kelly's face. Kelly, throwing his whole body into the uppercuts, starts to lose his edge and is leaning back at an angle when a Dudley right catches him. He goes to the ice and Dudley falls on top, drilling Kelly with a big right while they're down. Kelly rolls over to his knees and tries to get up but Dudley wrestles him back down as the linesmen hover in the vicinity. Kelly eventually manages to get to his feet and with his back to the corner boards, lands one late blow as the linesmen decide to get between them.

Clear win for Dudley. I had Kelly landing 5 of 13 with 3 big punches and Dudley connecting on 15 of 17 with 5 big blows. Apparently one of the players was bleeding as the announcer noted the stains on Dudley's jersey. He surmised it was Dudley's blood and though I don't believe it was verified, it did appear as if Dudley was dabbing at his nose in the box following the battle. I didn't see this fight as a TKO win for two reasons. 1) Kelly was already losing his edge and leaning toward the ice before Dudley's "knockdown" punch. 2) The punch didn't end the fight. Dudley was able to belt Kelly with another big punch, they wrestled, got up and went down again and then back up and when Kelly tossed another right, the officials decided to step in. Dudley was the clear winner though, landing more punches and more big blows, and controlling the fight. Good scrap.

After some aggressive jersey pulling Dudley and Kelly both throw rapid-fire punches. Both rely exclusively on right hands. Dudley had the edge in hand speed and power in this bout. He landed three or four good rights and put Kelly down. Kelly landed a few decent rights at the same time, but he kept getting beat to the punch.

Kelly rose quickly to his feet and resumed throwing rapid rights. Dudley again landed three or four good ones and Kelly landed a couple of weak rights in return. Dudley knocked down Kelly cleanly with his last punch and the two wrestled on the ice until the refs stepped in to break it up.

I rate it as a clear win because Dudley scored two flash knockdowns and landed the cleaner punches. Kelly was overmatched in this bout but gave a good account of himself. He landed well at times but lacked the power to hurt Dudley. His effort was terrific and he displayed great fighting spirit. This was no decisive win because Kelly had plenty of fight left in him as the refs intervened. A great scrap between two tough customers.

The officials break up the Dave Schultz and Jim Schoenfeld fight and while they're escorting those two off, Rick Dudley and Bob Kelly, who had paired off in the meantime, decide to start going at it. They grapple away from a linesman and then start exchanging rights. Kelly throws six and lands one before going to his knees while Dudley throws five and lands four. Dudley goes to his knees too and when they back up, Kelly just tries to stay in close. Dudley throws five more rights and lands one as they wrestle. Kelly throws two rights and lands one, then they resume exchanging rights with each other. Dudley throws seven and lands two while Kelly throws seven as well and also lands two before falling on his back. Dudley lands on top of Kelly and lands a right, then misses a right before they try getting up. Dudley tries to keep Kelly down but he gets up although the officials move in right there. Kelly misses a right over the officials before he's separated from Dudley. Spirited and good fight between two rugged, tough guys. Give the win to Dudley, he had more control of the fight and landed more.

Rare, rare toe-to-toe let 'em fly slugfest. Two tough men standing back and trading rights with no thought of defense. Close, hard fight with Dudley getting the decision. Both men fire like Rock 'Em/Sock 'Em Robots, but Dudley lands the more by virtue of his greater height and reach. How often did Kelly ever lose? He's banged up about the face after this one. If you can catch the video, don't miss it.

After Schoenfeld and Schultz are broken up, Dudley and Kelly find eachother and drop the mitts. They start going toe to toe with rights, and after about five thrown by each they go down. They get back up, and get their right hands going again. Dudley starts to pound Kelly with rights, the last one putting him down. Dudley continues to fire rights at Kelly. The linesman come in and Kelly gets up and tries to fight back.

Short T2T exchange between them. Dudley is landing better and Kelly goes down briefly with Dudley before they trade right hand punches a second time. Kelly eventually fell down again followed by Dudley. As they got up the linesmen broke them up.
