Adam McQuaid narrow win Fun
7
McQuaid and Crombeen wasted no time in swapping blows. There was good back-and-forth action in the early stages of this bout. McQuaid landed a few decent right hands at the onset and Crombeen countered with a couple of partially connecting right hands and some effective jersey jabs. McQuaid landed with a few more right hands and was fixated on getting rid of his elbow pad. Crombeen took advantage of Adam's lapse of attention and nailed him with some pretty hard jersey jabs. The bout was about even in the early going.

McQuaid started to pull ahead in the second half of the fight. He threw eight right hands in a row. Four or five landed with good impact. There may have been a partial connect or two as well. Crombeen had been mostly content to throw jersey jabs, and he decided to launch a right hand. B.J. sensed that he needed to do something to turn the bout around. He was well behind on points at this juncture. Crombeen threw a hard right that landed flush. Adam was briefly stunned, but he went down more from a loss of balance than the impact of the blow.

I rate this as a narrow win for McQuaid. He built up a big lead with his right handed rally late in the fight. He landed a lot of his punches flush and was pot-shotting Crombeen for a while. B.J. landed a beauty at the end of the bout. It was a good shot, but I don't believe that it had a destructive effect. Both guys were arm weary and losing their balance at the end of the bout. McQuaid would have had a clear win if it were not for the good blow at the end. Crombeen's shot narrowed the gap and I think a narrow victory is the right call. This was an entertaining fight between two tough customers.

Carter Campfer's NHL career get's interupted only 9 seconds in, thanks to B.J. Crombeen and Adam McQuaid.

B.J. went looking for this one, as there was no contact between the 2 players as McQuaid skated into his own zone, and dished the puck across to Andrew Ference.

The verbal offer is accepted and the 2 men square off.
They lock up apprehensively and neither looks to get a great grip. Both men come up short with their first right hands.

Crombeen answers with a series of jabs, none of which finds their mark. McQuaid counters with a right, but B.J. blocks it with his left elbow while ducking away.
McQuaid follows up with an over-under-over combo and landed a nice body shot followed by a right to the head.

The 2 men trade rights that both score. Crombeen follows up with a jab, and then tries a right that McQuaid blocks.

Adam fires 2 overhand rights, but it's hard to tell from the angle if they scored.

B.J. comes back with a left that is blocked, and Adam fires 2 rights, the second of which knocks Crombeen's helmet off, and follows up with one more right to the side of Crombeen's head. McQuaid is now furiously trying to shake off the elbow pad, and while he is doing so, B.J. sees an opening and throws 3 quick jabs, 2 of which appear to land.

McQuaid fires a huge right, but B.J. ducks out of the way. He has a tight grip on Adam's left arm, and has him in tight trying to negate the reach advantage of McQuaid.

Three more rights are fired by McQuaid, but only 1 lands. He then fires 1 more right that catches the side of Crombeen's head.

McQuaid then fires 4 punches that all come up short.

Crombeen then shifts his weight and lands a right hand that glanced off of McQuaid's shoulder pad and caught him right in the face. Crombeen then uses his left that has a great grip on the sweater to push McQuaid back, and they lose their balance and tumble to the ice.

Good scrap, but McQuaid was the far busier puncher, and landed more shots. It sounds like the announcer thought BJ dropped him with that last punch, but he clearly didn't.

Narrow win McQuaid.

Adam McQuaid narrow win Fun

B.J. Crombeen approaches Adam McQuaid shortly after a faceoff. Crombeen wants a fight to spark his team as they're down early in the first period and McQuaid agrees to go. They drop them and squareoff. They latch on with the left hand and Crombeen prods before missing a right as McQuaid lands a right. McQuaid connects on a follow up right and Crombeen returns by jersey jabbing away with his left. McQuaid puts his head down temporarily, then throws three quick rights, landing one weakly to the body. Crombeen leans away and then misses a right before McQuaid lands a right. Crombeen jersey jabs again and then misses a right as McQuaid lifts his left up, attempting to block. McQuaid then throws two rights and lands one but Crombeen connects with a right afterwards. Then McQuaid throws four rights and lands two, one of them knocking off Crombeen's helmet. McQuaid pauses to shake off his elbow pad and Crombeen resumes jersey jabbing with the left. McQuaid misses a right and they both get a little bit bent over for a short time. McQuaid straightens and then throws three fast rights, landing one to the side of the head. Crombeen gets his left up to block but McQuaid connects with two rights while Crombeen just leans away. McQuaid misses three rights, then Crombeen lands a right and pushes McQuaid off balance while McQuaid lands a right. Crombeen goes down on top of McQuaid and then the linesmen come in. Win McQuaid for landing more punches in an okay bout with Crombeen.

I cannot vote towards a McQuaid-win because Crombeen's last punch dizzied McQuaid which made it easy for Crombeen to put McQuaid down at the very end. True, McQuaid was winning the fight by a wide margin BUT only up to the point just before Crombeen's last punch. That's when Crombeen's last punch was sort of a "momentary lights-out" punch in Crombeen's favor. That's why it was easy to push McQuaid by the face, down to the ice at the very end. You have to be a good detective to see exactly what caused McQuaid to easily go down at the very end. /////////// Total punches for both guys: McQuaid had 7 facial punches + 2 grazing-facial punches. Crombeen had 5 jersey-jabs + 1 grazing facial-punch + his last punch which was his only full facial-punch but damaging-enough that it dizzied McQuaid for the easy knockdown (by pushing McQuaid's face downward). I stand by my evaluation with the fullest confidence: Draw.

Average fight. McQuaid landed more, Crombeen landed the best shot at the end. I call it a draw.

Decent scrap here, i didn't think it was a question who won this one. McQuaid landed the more significant shots in this fight, also, where did Crombeens last shot hit? looked to me like it missed.

Clear win, Adam McQuaid
