Hendricks pushed Horton in a face. McQuaid immediately jumped in and started to wrestle with Hendricks. Both fall down, then they got up and wanted to continue but referee stopped them. Fun

Brad Marchand clear win Fun
5
Brad Marchand moves the puck out of the zone while taking a check from Alexander Ovechkin. Marchand turns to Mike Ribeiro, grabs him, and they drop the gloves. Marchand lands a right off the visor and then prods a little bit. Ribeiro turns his head away and Marchand shakes off his elbow pad before missing a right. Ribeiro misses two rights and then Marchand throws a series of eight rights, landing four while Ribeiro ducks and dodges to avoid the punches. Ribeiro then gets his head up and misses a right with Marchand missing a right after. Ribeiro ducks and Marchand gets the helmet and visor off of Ribeiro. Ribeiro lands a right to the helmet after getting his head up, then the linesmen step in and break them up. Narrow win Marchand. He was the aggressor and more active than Ribeiro during the fight but most punches missed. Marchand got some in though, more so than Ribeiro, for the win. Decent tussle between these two pesky but skilled forwards.

This had been building between Caps and Bs all game and finally Marchand and Ribeiro wanted to settle it, they at first locke dup and were close then seperated and from that point on Marchand pretty much owned this fight nailing Mike with some head shots and then getting his helmet off to finish off the fight clear W Brad

Nope, but he's supposed not to run away when a legit fighter invites him to fight.

But he's a Bruin. So, of course if the chances are that he has to take a punch, he wont drop the gloves.

Watch the replay, Ovechkin gives Marchand two good crosschecks and a slash in the ribs off the faceoff, Marchand sees it was Ovechkin yet he grabs Ribeiro and forces him to fight instead. Marchand is such a fucking joke. He looked right at Ovechkin, saw the number, knew if he forced the issue he might have to answer to someone tougher later so he grabs Ribeiro. Just another reason to hate that little Ewok. I like the B's but this guys got to go.Reply

I have no problem with people being non-fighters, hockey is a sport, and isnt all about fighting. But if you are going to play on the edge and run your mouth constantly like a little prick, you should atleast be able to stand up for you own actions. And Marchand cannot, if he didnt play on a team like the Bruins he would either shut his mouth or get his fucking ass beat.Reply

As much as everyone hated Avery, atleast he was willing to fight and stand up for his own bullshit. Brad Marchand is basically Diet Avery, but without the willingness to back his own actions. He should either fight more, or talk/cheapshot less. I have no problem with guys not fighting like I said, but if you dont want to fight, dont be playing like a cheap little bastard and running the mouth constantly. I have no problem with doing those things either, as long as a guy stands behind his actions and doesnt have the mitts cemented on like Marchand does.Reply

Ribeiro is a cokehead and looks like he's never seen the inside of a weight room. For christ sake he's listed at 6'0 and <180 lbs!!!

Matt Hendricks narrow win Fun
3
Matt Hendricks goes right after Nathan Horton and grabs on to him. Horton is slow to react and gets his gloves off just before Hendricks starts throwing. Hendricks immediately lands a straight right and an uppercut. Horton then responds with a straight right which misses. Hendricks lands another straight right and Horton then throws a big overhand which hits Hendricks on the shoulder and puts him off balance. Hendricks loses his footing and lands a solid uppercut as they go down. Horton gets up to his knees and connects with a right while the linesmen are in between them. Horton was clearly very angry as he was not entirely prepared for Hendricks and really wanted to carry on but the linesmen would not let it happen. Horton was bloodied in two places, on the eyebrow and above the ear.

Narrow Hendricks as he landed the only punches which bloodied Horton badly.

Matt Hendricks and Nathan Horton meet up right after a faceoff and drop the gloves. Hendricks rushes in on Horton as they grab on and then Hendricks throws two rights, landing one as Horton ducks. Horton lifts his head while missing a right and his helmet comes off. Hendricks connects with a right and then gets tripped up by a stick. Horton misses a right and ducks again while Hendricks misses a right and goes down. Horton lands on top and misses a right as the linesmen come in and break it up. As the two are sent off, they share some words and the Boston Bruins' bench also has some words for Hendricks. Short, bad, fight. Edge Hendricks for landing the only punches.

Hendricks got very lucky here, he did get the hard shot in early but that looked to just make Horton angry and the slip and refs jumping in ended the fight way too soon as it looked like Horton was ready to tear Hendricks apart

strange fight outcome to have to pick a winner, as the way it finished before it got a chance to get going makes it seem like Hendricks did ok here, but a little longer fight would have seen a very opposite conclusion

You're forgetting a very important detail...Horton couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag. He's terrible and should keep the gloves on.

Shawn Thornton wants a fight with Matt Hendricks right off a faceoff but Hendricks ignores Thornton. Adam McQuaid steps in then and dangles the gloves at Hendricks. Thornton still wants to go and Hendricks dangles his gloves at Thornton before dropping them and turning to McQuaid as he drops his gloves. They grab on in close quarters and after a bit of wrestling, McQuaid misses a right. Hendricks lands a right as McQuaid lands a right, then McQuaid lands a right again. Hendricks lands a right as McQuaid lands a right before missing a right. Then Hendricks lands a good right to the face and while McQuaid stumbles a bit, getting some space in between them. Hendricks misses a follow up right and McQuaid gets himself set. McQuaid misses a right and Hendricks misses a right while trying to get back in close but McQuaid maintains some space between them. McQuaid lands a right, then after Hendricks misses a right, McQuaid lands two rights and Hendricks goes down. Hendricks gets up and McQuaid throws two rights, landing a good one to the head. Hendricks lands a right to the face again while McQuaid misses a right but Hendricks goes back down. McQuaid lands a right to the head and then falls over top of Hendricks who misses a right. The linesmen come in and break it up. Hendricks leaves the ice with a bloody right hand. Not a long fight but lots of punches landed here. A few from Hendricks and a bunch from McQuaid. They both landed some effective ones but McQuaid landed more.

Shawn Thornton badly wants to go with Hendricks to avenge Hendricks blooding Horton. Hendricks want's no part of it. McQuaid decides to give Hendricks a second option and he seems more than happy to oblige.

They grab on straight away. McQuaid lands a body shot and then they simultaneously miss a right. McQuaid throws three short rights, the first of which connects and then the second two miss. Hendricks then throws a big right which connects and then misses on the second which he throws immediately afterwards. McQuaid then throws two rights, the first of which misses, the second of which connects. Hendricks throws and misses a right before McQuaid lands two quick rights which sends Hendricks down. McQuaid pulls him back up and goes under and over connecting on both of the punches. Hendricks throws a solid right which connects and McQuaid takes down Hendricks and gets a good right in on the way down. Just before they land on the ice Hendricks throws McQuaid over so he lands on top. The linesmen then dive on top of the two of them to separate them.

Clear win McQuaid as he landed more punches and landed the best punches of the fight.

Hendricks drew the ire of the Bruins tough guys on this occasion. Thornton wanted to go with Matt. McQuaid stepped in and went with Hendricks. Adam missed a blow and landed an average right. He missed a few shots. Matt missed two punches and landed an average blow. He missed a shot. McQuaid landed an average punch and missed a shot.

Hendricks toppled to the ice as he slipped. He got up immediately. He turned his head and said something to an official. I think he was telling him he still wanted to continue. At any rate, it wasn't a good idea to look away from his opponent. McQuaid capitalized on the situation by landing two solid rights. Hendricks was off-balance to begin with and he slipped to the ice. Adam missed a couple of blows. Matt rolled over and missed a punch. The refs stopped the contest.

I rate this as a clear win for McQuaid. He landed a few more punches and his blows had some pop. It was a fairly entertaining fight because there was a lot of passion here.

Right from the faceoff, Shawn Thornton begins to challenge Matt Hendricks constantly. The play goes on, and Thornton keeps shadowing Hendricks who continues to ignore him and wants nothing to do with Thornton. The play continues near the blueline and Thornton just continues ignoring the play and pushing with Hendricks who earlier in the game took on Nathan Horton. Finally Adam McQuaid comes in and gives Hendricks a shot, sending a dance invitation along as well. And with Thornton still in Hendricks face, he completely ducks the fight and drops the gloves with McQuaid, which was laughable at that. Hendricks and McQuaid grab on quickly with McQuaid starting things by firing some right hands, connecting on a couple, then Hendricks answers back with a right hand of his own that doesn't seem to hurt McQuaid, McQauid than gets his left hand up into the face of Hendricks, not only throwing him off guard, but causing him to lose his balance and stumble backwards a bit as well. McQuaid takes advantage of this and lands a couple of bombs, almost appearing to TKO Hendricks at one point, who falls down, but with the refs about to step in he gets back up and continues the fight. As he gets up he seems to be in some discomfort and is hanging in a sideways style with McQuaid throwing some more punches, connecting with quite a few, and sending Hendricks down to his knees again as the linesman step in before any more damage is done. This was a truly embaressing moment for Hendricks, refusing Thornton for roughly 30 consecutive seconds of taunting, and than accepting a fight with McQuaid and getting destroyed...

I didnt like Hendricks until today. This guy has balls. He was definitely outgunned here by Mcquaid but managed to land one really nice right hand that snaps Adams head back,Mcquaid landed more and controlled the entire fight. He looked like he knocked Hendricks down in the middle of the fight but that was not a TKO in my eyes.

Thornton was begging Hendricks to go at the face off circle at first Matt agreed and then backed off (I saw in person) Shawn got mad so he hit Matt's stick with his after the puck dropped Thornton chased Hendricks 1/2 down the ice while McQuaid was near the middle dot he said something to Hendricks and out of no where Hendricks attacked McQuaid this really got the Garden going, I thought it was kind of gutless but hey it's not me out there fighting and getting punched so whatever, McQuaid handled this fight pretty good I thought he nailed him at the end its close to TKO but I believe Hendricks went down more due to slipping than the punch althought its close TKO I go with clear W

This is a pretty cool fight because Hendricks avoided Thornton but still ended up getting beaten by adam mcquaid. This was also a very exciting game on St paddys day with 3 fights and a Bruins win. So Thornton is trying to get into a fight with Hendricks, and swatting at him with his stick but Hendricks clearly does not want to go with Thornton. After the face off Thornton follows Hendricks to the boards still swatting at him. Then McQuaid comes over with his gloves hanging. So basically Hendricks has to make a decision between these two guys and he chooses McQuaid. He charges at McQuaid and they go at center ice.

They exchange rights as Hendricks catches McQuaid with a big right. Then this angers McQuaid as he throws a jab and then hits Hendricks with a bomb as Hendricks goes down. He then gets back up as McQuaid throws two strong jabs and then Hendricks hits McQuaid with a jab of his own as McQuaid then topples over Hendricks as the linesman come in as McQuaid is standing over Hendricks who is still on the ice. Great fight in a great game. Clear win McQuaid.

The word 'crying' is a bit over-the-top, but what do you expect from a Bruins fan?

And McQuaid has always been a spot-picker, at least, at the NHL level. I can't call him a spot-picker here because Hendricks jumped him. But overally, McQuaid has always been a spot-picking scumbag until the day he decided to drop the gloves against better competition. When your record is 20-4-5, you know you're not fighting the right guys.

There are a bunch of guys that are in McQuaid's category IMO. Asham, Konopka, McCormick, Eager, Moen, Gaustad, Crombeen, Labrie and Fraser. These are the fights where he didn't pick his spots. His record against these fighters: 4-4-3.

That means McQuaid spends too much time fighting the likes of Ryan White, Matt Bradley and other punching bags like that. This is why he's a spot-picker. He has no problem having weaker guys like them on his fightcard when he's good for competition against real middleweights from his category. And I have nothing against McQuaid fighting weaker guys than him but he should fight stronger guys than him sometimes in order to stop looking like a typical spot-picking Bruin.

No, Campbell is an absolutely terrible fighter who can't even beat Steve Ott so if something did happen between Campbell and Buffalo like a dirty hit etc. Ott would fight, Scott wouldn't even challenge him it would be absolutely pointless. But if McQuaid did something which angered Buffalo I would quite like it if he stepped up against Scott. He would clearly lose but yeah.....

This is a great site but some of the posters ruin it. (murray3, ahler and you to name a few) If your hate towards the bruins wasn't so obivios someone outside your "bruins are pussies"- "ikr spot picking hahha"-redneck circle could actually think that what you say isn't just hate. But everytime something happens in a bruins game, there's something wrong with it. You need to understand that it's hockey first and fighting is just a part of it.

I agree. Nathan Horton wouldn't have taken the vicious run that he took at Eric Fehr to start the game, if the Caps had some artillery. It was really sad to see Hendricks stand up for Fehr, then have to go it alone against Thornton and McQuaid. Next time, maybe over-sized pussies like Alzner, Carlsson, Ward, Brouwer, Volpatti, and Chimera should buy tickets to watch Hendricks being outgunned and outnumbered.Reply
