Adam McQuaid narrow win Fun
5
Adam McQuaid belts Frazer McLaren as he's heading for a loose puck but it never gets to McLaren. McLaren gets up and taking issue with McQuaid's hit, drops the gloves with him when McQuaid gets up. McLaren struggles to work his right hand loose and jersey jabs while McQuaid puts his head down. McLaren misses three rights as his hand gets loose and McQuaid lands a right. Then McLaren misses two rights before McQuaid connects with a right but loses his helmet. McLaren misses a right and keeps jersey jabbing as McQuaid misses a right. McLaren misses two rights and after McQuaid misses a right, McLaren lands a right. McQuaid lands a right and shakes off his elbow pad as McLaren misses a right. McQuaid misses a right and then they pause. McLaren jersey jabs a little bit more and then misses a right. McQuaid misses a right and falls back to the ice. McQuaid bounces up and then lands a right, after McLaren misses a right, McQuaid throws two rights and lands one. Then McQuaid misses two rights after McLaren misses a right and loses his hold on McQuaid. McLaren falls down and McQuaid is sent down too so the linesmen get in and break it up. Edge to McQuaid. He did better staying in range to land punches and was more accurate than McLaren. Neither landed many effective punches but McQuaid definitely landed more. Nice win for the middleweight McQuaid against a heavyweight in McLaren.

McQuaid stepped up and fought McLaren. Frazer is a big heavyweight and Adam was giving up a lot of weight. Adam is a lanky guy, but he has a long reach and pretty good pop in his punches. McLaren landed a decent right hand and missed a few punches.

McQuaid landed a partial connect and an average right. Frazer landed some light jersey jabs and missed with several right hands. Adam missed a couple of rights and landed a solid connect. He landed a body punch, slipped to the ice, and landed a pretty good right once he regained his footing.

McLaren landed a solid jersey jab, missed a couple of rights, and landed a couple of decent blows. McQuaid had the stronger finish. He missed a punch and landed a couple of solid connects. He missed a final blow as the men toppled over.

I rate this as a narrow win for McQuaid. McLaren had trouble reaching him with right hands and missed with the majority of them. He landed several jersey jabs, but not too many of those were that effective. Adam landed a few solid rights and had more impact with his blows. He landed the better and more substantial punches and earned the upset win.

This was a bizarre fight. McLaren was all over McQuaid early out landing him about a dozen to a half dozen in the early going. A lot of them were only glancing shots but he clipped Adam with a couple of decent punches and was in full control of things. It was almost like he was toying with him the same way he did with Josh Georges that time in the early going but McQuaid is no pushover. He fell down and instead of looking to finish him, Frazer lets McQuaid back up and as soon as he gets back on his skates Adam smashes him right on the button with a clean right hand that was the best punch of the fight. Then he clipped him with two more nice rights, the second knocked McLaren off balance and unlike Frazer earlier Adam does look to finish and fires another right that doesn't land but the momentum pushes and off balance McLaren over and ends the fight. McLaren totally let McQuaid back in it after Adam's slip obviously feeling he had things well in hand and could just play with him and he ended up blowing the fight as McQuaid comes back with three big right hands to draw even at worst, if not cap the comeback and score probably the nicest win of his NHL career. I think based on the finish you gotta give the decision to McQuaid. No knockdown, as it was a balance issue that McLaren fell victim to at the end but that balance issue might have been created in part by the three good right hands McQuaid put on him before hand after Frazer let him up. McLaren blew that one. McQuaid proves he's no gimmie and scores a nice comeback victory. Win McQuaid.

I thought it was funny how this one started, with McQuaid running into McLaren away from the play. McLaren just seemed kinda like 'wtf? ok we're going'

McLaren seemed to be in control in this fight though really didn't land anything clean. Then he dropped McQuaid to a knee and McQuaid seemed to surprise McLaren by popping right back up and landing. McQuaid lands the last couple so I'd say draw overall.

This fight is basically this sites wet dream....

A disappointing fight where neither guy really does much to the other turns into an opportunity for a clash between the two biggest homer-groups on here to pretend that their guy had an advantage or that this fight was worthy of a rating above 5.

Get serious, people.

David Clarkson and Jarome Iginla had signed in Toronto and Boston respectively, as some of the biggest free agent signings of the offseason. Both men were physical but skilled and could really grind it out against their opponent or deck them with a big hit. They also each had a good fighting ability. Clarkson was used to getting involved in the rough stuff and knew how to defend himself but his teammates as well. This was put on full display when Clarkson jumped off the Toronto bench to defend flashy star Phil Kessel from big John Scott during the preseason. Clarkson recieved a ten game suspension for his actions but was praised by fans and his teammates. On this occassion, David fought against Jarome Iginla, who had a very similar style of game.

Clarkson and Iginla were battling in front of the Toronto net. They exchanged cross checks with both men trying to create some space up the middle of the ice. Clarkson seemed to be more aggressive as the defender. He really gave Iginla the lumber. "Iggy" was fed up and as the puck started to move up the ice, Clarkson and Iginla dropped the gloves. There was no square off as both men grabbed on as soon as they could. This was not a set battle. The combatants were really steaming and it appeared to be a grudge match. Iginla threw the first punch, missing Clarkson's forehead with a left hand. Iginla was able to land a solid right hand to Clarkson's jaw before the combatants started going toe to toe, Iginla with the left, Clarkson with the right. Clarkson threw six right hands, connecting with four of them. Iginla threw eight right hands, connecting with three. Clarkson got in tight and attempted to tie Jarome's arm up but was unable to do so.

Both men threw three left hands, Clarkson connecting with two while Iginla only managed to land the first blow he threw. Iginla switched to his right and threw four big punches but all of them fell just short or Clarkson dodged them with a few quick moves of his head. The blows would have had a real large impact on David. Iginla pushed Clarkson against the glass and they each threw three right hands. Iginla just missed his first two blows and partially connected with the third. Clarkson was able to land a mild punch, just missed with a second blow and then connected with a big right hand. Iginla got in tight as Clarkson connected with a body shot. Jarome pushed Clarkson up against the glass and Clarkson connected with another right hand. As the linesmen came in, Iginla, in typical fashion, managed to land two final left hands before the combatants were seperated. Both men skated to the penalty box, looking tired as they recieved a large ovation from the always lively crowd at TD Garden.

This was a good fight. Things had been getting heated in front of the net and the two decided to settle the matter with a round of fisticuffs. They had an early toe to toe spell though the punches thrown seemed awkward and had little effect. The combatants decided to get in tight but still traded punches at a rapid pace. Clarkson didn't appear to have his right arm in the most comfortable position for the majority of the fight. However, he was still able to effectively trade blows. The two had a mini toe to toe battle along the boards. Clarkson managed to stun Iginla with a hard blow. David got a few late punches in. Both combatants were visibly tired and the linesmen stepped in. "Iggy" got a few late punches in as he per usual. It was not the most sportsmanlike move. Both the crowd and the benches really got going after this battle.

I judge this as a draw, which is certainly not the majority opinion. Iginla managed to get a couple early shots in before the toe to toe segment of the battle. There was no clear winner of the rapid exchange of punches. Clarkson tried to take a defensive approach and it succeeded as Iginla took some wild swings that all missed. Iginla tired himself out, allowing Clarkson to get an advantage along the glass and he got better of the exchange. Even with Iginla's two late punches as the linesmen intervened, I'd still say he won the battle along the glass. This accumlates to Iginla early, even during the middle of the bout, Clarkson late. That amounts to a clear draw. The fight was a real entertaining one as there was constant action and it was great seeing two big, skilled guys trading punches.

Jarome Iginla narrow win Fun

David Clarkson initiates a fight with Jarome Iginla, repeatedly crosschecking him lightly in the arm to get his attention. Iginla tries to ignore Clarkson but eventually faces him and then Clarkson drops the gloves and grabs on. Iginla drops the gloves and grabs on too, then he misses a left and grabs Clarkson's helmet. Iginla lands a right and then gets a good hold on Clarkson's right, preventing him from getting free. Iginla opens up and throws seven lefts, connecting with four. Clarkson meanwhile misses four rights before trying to get a hold on Iginla's left. Clarkson puts his head down and moves in closer on Iginla who pauses before landing a left. Then Clarkson lands a left and Iginla misses a left. Iginla almost gets turned around and after Clarkson connects with a left, Iginla misses a left and gets bent over. Clarkson misses a left and Iginla straightens up and misses a right while Clarkson lands a left. They gain some space from each other and Iginla then misses a right as Clarkson misses a right, then they go to the boards with Iginla throwing two rights and landing one. Clarkson loses his hold on Iginla but gets it back immediately and then lands a right. Iginla throws two rights and lands one before Clarkson lands a right. Then Iginla moves in closer on Clarkson and he throws two rights, landing one. They wrestle and then Iginla lands two lefts while the linesmen work their way in and break up the fight. Pretty good scrap between two rugged power forwards. Iginla was getting the better of it early but Clarkson got going a little bit and had a fair comeback. Overall though I think Iginla got the best of the punching in this tilt. Narrow win Iginla.

Iginla and Clarkson went at it after some cross-checking. Jarome went with left hands and got off to a strong start. He landed five blows with average pop to jump out to a lead. He missed a couple of punches and landed a partial connect. David missed a few rights and had trouble getting going.

Iginla landed a solid blow and missed a couple of lefts. David switched to throwing lefts and had some success. He landed an average blow, missed a punch, landed a partial connect, and landed a solid left. Jarome switched to throwing rights and landed an average punch, missed a blow, and landed an average connect.

Clarkson missed a punch, landed an average blow, and missed a punch, He landed an average punch and missed a blow. Iginla landed a body blow and two solid rights. He landed a couple of solid lefts as the refs were stopping the bout.

I rate this as a clear win for Iginla. Iggy got off to a strong start. Clarkson landed some effective blows in the second half of the bout. I can see why many are calling this a narrow win. I think Iggy landed some effective blows at the end to widen the margin of victory some. Jarome did a nice job of switching hands in the fight and he definitely won the bout.

David Clarkson wants to fight Jarome Iginla as he cross checks Iginla numerous times. Iginla tries to ignore him but Clarkson continues cross checking him. Iginla faces Clarkson and pushes him backwards, Clarkson then rushes forward dropping the gloves and grabbing onto Iginla who's quick to drop his. Iginla misses a left and tries to grab Clarkson's helmet. Iginla lands a hard jersey jab with his right then Iginla throws a fury of six or seven lefts landing five. Clarkson throws four rights landing the last one weakly since Iginla ducks all of them. Clarkson tries to get close to Iginla but Iginla throws a left and lands it. Iginla switches hands as Clarkson throws a left missing. Iginla lands a right then misses a right. iginla than ducks down and lands a right handed body shot on Clarkson as Clarkson misses a right of his own. Iginla then lands two quick rights in a row. As Clarkson throws two rights landing one weak one. Clarkson and Iginla then grab on as the linesman get in as Iginla lands two more rights. Narrow win Iginla since he got going early with all those lefts he landed in the beginning and pushed on strong till the end. Clarkson came back a little but it wasn't enough to secure a draw. Good scrap between these two tough guys.

It starts when the veteren Iginla is crosschecked repeatedly during play by the stalwart Clarkson, so they hook up in a fight that winds up with surprising results. Iginla connects on consecutive facialpunches from beginning to end. This is in stark contrast to an atypical performance by Clarkson who did poorly because he missed with some of his swings. Clarkson only very periodically connected on 3 facialpunches in total, so Iginla clearly out-does him here since he connected on about 7 facialpunches. So, clear win for Iginla.

Good fight. Iginla threw a few nice lefts and landed the best shots.

Decent scrap here. Iginla got the best of it rather easily but he also had the shield on which made it tougher for Clarkson to land. That's the chance you take though as David picked the fight and they got right to it with no squareup to suggest mutual helmet removal and being as they're both pretty good players, I doubt Iginla volunteers the extra two minutes even if it's mutual. If you want to fight Iginla you're going to have to deal with his visor. Jerome land a nice combo with a good right, then a switch to the left for about ten straight out of the gate. Clarkson began to answer but Iginla would duck and land on the counter, switching things up and going to his right hand down the stretch. Clarkson landed one decent shot that dislodged the Helmet of Iggy a bit and pushed it back on his head a bit but it didn't come off and Clarkson was unable to mount much of a comeback. Good technical effort fighting wise by Iginla, and when his opponent tried to hit him back his shield didn't let him down either which made for a pretty one sided victory in his favor. Spirited Battle and a good little fight. Clear Win Iginla.

Slightest edge to Iginla for landing marginally higher quality punches.

Clear Win reviews should be pulled.

Odd, upon first viewing this I thought this was a rather even bout but many people here seem to believe Iggy won this one rather easily. Think I'll hold off on a review until I analyze this a bit more.Reply

both those fights were draws and the fact it stands as wins for iginla and mcquaid proves how fucked this site is. if it was boston against any other team it would be a draw but since its the leafs people say the leafs guy lost..Reply

Look at what website you are on, and what team Iginla plays for. This should proficiently answer your question.Reply

You act as if the Leafs homers aren't nearly as bad...... The only difference is that there are WAY more Bruins homers, so their ruining-effect on the site is far more visible.Reply

Watching this a few times, I can see how people could call this a clear win for Iggy, but I don't really agree with it.Reply

You should do a review on this one. We respect your opinion quite a bit. There is not just one valid call necessarily.Reply

Don't worry about majority opinion at all. I like to see different vantage points. As long as your call isn't clearly wrong and you can justify it, you should feel free to call the fight the way you saw it. Don't be afraid to go against the tide once in a while. You have established yourself as a top heavyweight on our web site and you should always feel free to share your insights.Reply
