Bobby Robins clear win Fun
4
Liam O'Brien hits Ben Sexton along the bench boards and Bobby Robins steps in to go after O'Brien. Michael Latta tries to interfere with Robins and get after him but O'Brien drops the gloves to go. Robins drops the gloves too and they grab on with Latta backing away from the fight. Robins throws five rights and lands two as O'Brien puts his head down and gets in close. O'Brien however falls to the ice heavily as Robins misses a right and then O'Brien misses a right up at Robins. Robins lands a right and the linesmen get in between them. Fairly poor scrap and a win to Robins for landing the only punches. O'Brien couldn't get going.

Robins objects to an O'Brien hit and nails him with a bunch of rights. Robins gets an extra two.

Adam McQuaid clear win Fun
6
I like this kind of fight. Two reasons, it's a little guy taking on a big guy, and it's Adam McQuaid. I'll go ahead and deliver my thesis early on, McQuaid will win this bout clearly, but I gotta respect Oleksy for getting in there and taking him on, despite the reach and wait disadvantage, and experience.

Speaking of experience, both guys can fight, but McQuaid is more experienced at the NHL level--Oleksy has 72 career fighting majors to McQuaid's 86, but McQuaid has had as many as 14 fights in an NHL season and Oleksy only 5. McQuaid is 37-7-16 with a fun rating of 5.0. He went undefeated last year at 6-0-3. Olkesy is 25-21-10 with a fun rating of 4.9, a respectable line for a six foot one hundred and ninety pound defenseman.

Both guys can play too. I like to point that out. I enjoy guys who can fight and not shit their pants when they get on the ice. Makes the game better for everyone. Oleksy has a +16 career plus/minus and 19 points in 61 games. He'll probably blossom into a 30-40 point defenseman, a nice investment for the Caps. McQuaid has a +53 for his career, and can net between 10-20 points for a team. A defensive d-man, his ice time has gone up each season--he was averaging 16 and some change last year.

Anyway...*takes long sip of scotch whisky*

Boston's leading the game 2-1, so it's interesting how this fight develops. Play dies down in the Washington Capital's end when Michael Latta skates up and gives McQuaid a nice little crosscheck to the mitts. Latta, who is not a fighter, and McQuaid, who is a fighter, no doubt have different opinions on the attractiveness of high waist shorts in female culture. McQuaid, obviously very traditional and old school, does not support these shorts. Oleksy, a very open-minded and liberal fellow, does and rushes in to give his opinion to McQuaid.

And then a fight breaks outs... *takes long gulp of scotch whisky, fights urge to call ex-wife*

We miss the first three seconds of the fight, by the time the camera gets in on the action at the 21 second mark, Oleksy is trying to stay in close to McQuaid, who pumps his ribs with some uppercuts. Both exchange and go over the top, but McQuaid is gradually pushing Oleksy out there and will use his reach to his advantage. Oleksy hangs in there and keeps going for broke with each punch he throws, often with little success and often met with McQuaid's fist.

They go against the boards exchanging glancing overhand rights to each other. McQuaid props himself and gets the separation he wants. They pound each other in the ribs and shoulder pads, with McQuaid sneaking in an uppercut that can't quite put Oleksy out.

McQuaid will hit Oleksy with a good overhand right at the 36 second mark, and the two will come together and begin to grapple briefly as Oleksy tries to jersey McQuaid, but to no avail. They go back to trading until around the 52 second mark Oleksy loses his grip and takes an uppercut and a cross. McQuaid takes full control and feeds him some shots to the body as they run along the boards. Oleksy ducks over to protect his face as McQuaid punches him in the back. Finally, Oleksy loses his balance and falls to the ice.

Good fight, nice scrap. Oleksy hung in there with a better opponent and shouldn't hang his head for this fight. McQuaid takes care of business as usual, but I'm hoping he'll engage more heavies this upcoming year.

Adam McQuaid clear win Fun

During a stoppage in play, Adam McQuaid and Steve Oleksy drop the gloves. They grab hold of each other and McQuaid misses a right before landing a right as Oleksy misses a right. Oleksy misses two rights and then McQuaid misses a right before Oleksy misses a right. McQuaid misses a right, then Oleksy misses a right, and McQuaid misses a right. Oleksy misses a right as McQuaid turns away, then McQuaid lands a right and after Oleksy misses two rights, McQuaid misses a right. McQuaid then shakes his elbow pad off while Oleksy misses a right. McQuaid misses a right before Oleksy misses a right, then McQuaid lands a right but Oleksy lands a right after. Oleksy gets in tight and McQuaid lands a right as Oleksy tries to pull the sweater up and over McQuaid's head. McQuaid throws three rights and lands one as Oleksy quits trying to get the sweater up on McQuaid and then misses a right. McQuaid misses two rights and Oleksy misses a right and then loses his grip of McQuaid as McQuaid misses a right. McQuaid throws six rights and lands two as Oleksy grabs back on but goes down to the ice. The linesmen then intercede, stopping the fight there. Pretty good tilt between two tough defensemen. Clear win for McQuaid as he landed more and better punches. Oleksy missed almost the entire time, unable to get in range against a much larger opponent.

McQuaid was too much for Oleksy to handle. Adam landed a body blow and missed a shot. He landed a body punch and missed a blow. Steve missed three punches and landed a shot to the shoulder. He missed a blow and landed another shoulder punch. McQuaid landed an average blow and a solid shot. He missed a punch, landed a body blow, and landed a solid right.

Oleksy missed a few punches and landed a partial connect. Adam missed two punches and landed a solid blow. Steve got the jersey up for a time in McQuaid's face. Adam landed an average blow and missed a shot. He landed two body punches and missed a blow. Oleksy missed a couple of punches. McQuaid landed a couple of body blows and missed a shot. Steve slipped to the ice.

I rate this as a clear win for McQuaid. His reach advantage and edge in punching power were too much for Oleksy to handle. Adam won the fight with ease.

McQuaid dominates this fight

(I apologize, in creating the fight I accidentally deleted the first fight, and I didn't see who it was between. So someone will need to re-add the fight that happened earlier in the game.
