Cody McLeod finds Adam McQuaid and they drop the gloves a few minutes into the game, McQuaid's first fight since returning from a leg injury and McLeod's first fight since being claimed off waivers by the New York Rangers. They grab on and stand back but McLeod quickly moves in closer to the bigger McQuaid who throws two rights and lands one. McLeod falls to a knee wrestling McQuaid against the boards and then gets up as McQuaid misses a right. McQuaid throws two rights and lands one on the body as McLeod stands back again and then lands a right that jostles McQuaid's helmet and visor loose. McQuaid lands a right to the body and then turns his head away as McLeod misses a right. McQuaid gets in closer on McLeod and wrestles off the boards while McLeod misses two rights. McQuaid then shakes off his elbow pad and gets his arm out of his jersey. McQuaid stands back and misses a right that sends both falling to the ice as McLeod tries to leans away. Not a good fight between two tough veterans. Call it a draw. |

Not a good fight here between these two. They each threw a few punches, none of which connected. Can't see giving either player the edge in this one - draw. |

SarcasticPillow 20121 fight reviews 144 fight logs Feb 10 09:40 ET | Adam McQuaid clear win | Fun 5 |
Adam McQuaid takes issue with some physical play from Cody McLeod late in a blowout game so they drop the gloves for a second time tonight. They exchange a couple words while locking up in tight and then McLeod lands a right. McQuaid leans away and then stands back as McLeod misses a left. McQuaid throws two rights to the body and lands one, pauses, and then lands five rights, three to the body and two to the helmet as McLeod struggles to gain a better grip on McQuaid's arm. McLeod winds up getting turned around slightly before getting some position on McQuaid and moving in closer. McQuaid misses two rights, pauses to shake off his elbow pad, and then misses three rights. McLeod gets set in the meantime and then misses a left as McQuaid ducks. McQuaid throws four rights and lands one on the helmet as McLeod just tries to lean away but both are tired and the linesmen break it up. Definite advantage for McQuaid here. McLeod was inactive through much of this one while McQuaid landed a fair amount of punches. |

McLeod was taking a few runs at the Bruins defense in the third and McQuaid decided its go time again. McLeod didn't really want any of this one, all McQuaid. |

Much better fight this time around. This one was pretty much all McQuaid, who threw most of the punches and had McLeod on the defensive most of the time. Give Adam the obvious win here. |

All McQuaid in this one. He landed a lot more shots (though most didn't seem to have much behind them), while McLeod either couldn't get anything going, or didn't want to. Either way, clear win for McQuaid in this one. |

McQuaid was aggro after a hit and some extra from McLeod. McLeod landed 1 at the beginning then it was all McQuaid. McLeod was the only good part of a shit game from the Rangers. |

OldSkoolfan Feb 7 23:08 ET (later updated) | It's funny how eager McQuaid is to fight now that the Orr's and the Laraques are gone. I remember McQuaid skating away from Orr 3 times during the 2011 season. Pansy. McQuaid will go down as one of the most overrated fighters. He's basically a heavyweight that fights nothing but middleweights. Guy fucking sucks. | Reply |

I wouldn't have expected him to fight a guy like Orr or Laraque. They were way out of his league. It would have been up to his teammate Shawn Thornton to take them on. He is more suited to fight light-heavies or middleweights. Actually, McQuaid was more active in the years where there were still heavyweights. He has barely fought at all the last two seasons. I agree that he has been a spotpicker the last couple years but he does have some tough names on his fight card from years past.
McQuaid has fought Shawn Thornton, Frazer McLaren, Chris Neil, and Mark Fraser as well as many tough middleweights including Dan Carcillo, Cody McLeod, Tanner Glass, Zenon Konopka, Matt Martin, Arron Asham, and Cody McCormick. It's true he has been shying away from actual fighters as of late in favor of fighting weaker opponents, but it's not like his fight card is completely void of some tough fighters. | Reply |
Sheppy Feb 7 23:38 ET (later updated) | Don't bother with that guy. The guy is stuck in 2010.
He comments on Bruins fights and just runs his mouth. Guy's got the brain of a turnip.
Here's his starting arguments 90% of the time: 1. All Bruins are spot pickers 2. ____ turned ____ down 29 years ago. 3. Any fight involving Miller/McQuaid is automatically shit on. | Reply |
semenko93 Feb 8 02:53 ET | well chara and mcquaid are spot pickers for sure. Mcquaid did fight mclaren and mark fraser so i will give him credit for that but chara and mcquaid both wanted nothing to do with orr. | Reply |

Darren Langdon Paul Laus Peter Worrell Krzysztof Oliwa Shawn Thornton Andre Roy Gino Odjick Chris Simon Scott Parker E. Cairns Donald Brashear Georges Laraque etc...
....a "spot-picker". Chara will fight anyone who pisses him off - enforcer or not. | Reply |

Chara will fight anyone who pisses him off - enforcer or not. | Chara wasn't a spotpicker early in his career but in the last several years the quality of his opponents has really declined. The last time he fought a true heavyweight was when he went with Jody Shelley in December of 2011 (and bailed on the fight as usual). Since then Chara has fought Alexei Yemelin, Luke Schenn, Jay Harrison, Brian Boyle, Mark Borowiecki, Pat Maroon, Matt Martin, and Clayon Stoner. Not exactly the toughest guys. The only tough guys Chara has really fought somewhat recently are Chris Thorburn and Zack Kassian and they aren't exactly heavyweights. Not to mention how Chara acted really shady and cowardly when he fought Kassian. | Reply |
Sheppy Feb 8 10:52 ET | Chara is a number 1 d-man. He had to fight the top of the top to even stay in the NHL at one point, then developed into the best defenseman in hockey for a number of years. | Reply |
TheDanLine Feb 8 12:31 ET | Chara has always been a joke of a fighter. He has no problem destroying punching bags but when he's up against a legitimate fighter he "mysteriously" loses his balance. | Reply |
semenko93 Feb 8 15:33 ET | because i have seen every leafs- bruins game for the last 10 years or more and i seen chara refuse to fight orr multiple times and tie domi at an earlier time but decided he would ragdoll bryan mccabe instead ( still one of the most hilarious ragdolls ever) which i cant really respect. He sure had a long fuse with guys like orr, domi and belak but not with guys that he has 40-50lbs and 5-6 inches of height on. Its like trying to convince someone lucic never ducked laraque or john scott, we all know the truth, there is video evidence, lol. | Reply |
Sheppy Feb 9 01:19 ET (later updated) | Every player you've mentioned (other than Lucic and Chara) are no longer in the NHL, and haven't been for a long time. It's time to move on, man.

Pretty much everyone could be labeled a spot-picker in today's NHL. | Reply |
